Hotel Le Marais

"Hotel Le Marais is one of those rare boutique hotels that manages to at once evoke the charming, old-world essence of the Big Easy—see the wrought iron, ballast stone, and plaster edifices that characterize its cream-colored exterior—all the while reminding guests that it's set firmly in the modern age (gratis WiFi and a heated saltwater pool, mid-courtyard? Yes, please). The 66-room boutique hotel sits in the city's 'Upper Quarter' district, near restaurants like Antoine’s and Arnaut's, and well-known musical haunts including 21st Amendment Jazz Club and Wynton Marsalis—but its address on Conti Street means it's well enough concealed that it offers a quiet respite from the clamor of the nearby Bourbon Street (and the happy, beaded revelers that fill it each night)."

Our second time staying at this hotel… the 1st time was in 2019 before Covid. Hotel had welcome drinks, a bar, and offer breakfast and it was amazing. This time after COVID 2025 nothing was the same anymore. No welcome drinks, no bar in their lobby, and DEFINITELY no breakfast offered. The staffs were all nice but the hotel was not up to par for the price. We stayed here again thinking we were going to get the same hotel amenities like in 2019. They need to bring those things back and step up on housekeeping. The room was cleaned but the toilet was dirty! I provided pics of our toilet. Other than that it was ok.

Pierre and the entire staff were so welcoming and helpful when I arrived and throughout my stay in New Orleans. The room was extremely clean And the bedding was super comfortable. The enclosed courtyard with pool was a little relaxing oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street. Parking was very easy and right across the street. I will definitely be back. What a gem!

Stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights and found the hotel super charming. The hotel staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. We got a great breakfast recommendation from the front desk on our way out before our flight as well and they held/secured our bags for us. The location is perfect if you’re looking to be right by Bourbon and in walking distance to a lot of the nightlife. We did not hear any noise from the street in our room even though we were only on the third floor. We did however hear our neighbors who were quite loud and a lot of noise from the hallway. Beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean. You do need your room key to access the hotel itself after a certain hour as a heads up! We did wish the bar was operational and the pool was very small and got crowded quickly but still was a very nice outside area to hang out in (especially after a night out). We did love our stay and again the location cannot be beat!

Very relaxing place to stay. Don't let the outside fool you, when you walk through the main doors the staff always greeted us and were always helpful with any questions. The hallways and the outdoor area were spacious and beautiful. The fitness room was a good size. There was coffee and water bottles for the guests at all times. The pool and the pool area were kept clean. It was a fantastic area for us to meet and chill with our friends. This hotel is one street off of Bourbon Street and was within walking distance to anywhere in the French Quarter. We all agreed that we would stay here again!

Another great stay at the Marais. I have been coming here for over a decade, and it remains that hidden gem I have always felt it to be—a perfect FQ location, quiet and safe, especially for solo travellers. I do miss the on-site bar, but other than that, I have no complaints. The staff is always amazing, especially Pierre, who always goes above and beyond to ensure that you have a great stay. It's like coming back to see an old friend. Can't wait for my next trip back!

Google
Pierre at the front desk is amazing. He is everything you want in a front desk. We had no issues with checking in or out. You can definitely hear muted crowd noise at night but you should expect this given the location. We brought a white noise machine and had no issues. Rooms are decent with plenty of space and the AC worked well. The walk in shower is odd, the shower knob is at the other end of the shower so you have to take steps to adjust the temp. Towels are rough and thin. Our TV power cord was not plugged into the wall, or the TV. We had to pull the dresser out to find the plug. Our TV also didn't get half the channels listed on the TV guide. The pool is very small and only for sitting. If there are five people out, it feels crowded. Our window provided a nice view of a courtyard, but it wasn't the hotel courtyard. I actually think it made it a better view, nice and secluded.

The location was great....within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. The hotel left some things to be desired; like a counter in the bathroom. Maid service was sporadic, had to be requested on 2 out of the 6 days and basically just threw fresh towels in at us those days. Front desk staff was polite and helpful, got coffee packets for us when the maids didn't replace the ones we used. Be sure to try the Copper Monkey for a meal and/or drink next door!

Google
Great location 1/2 block from Bourbon St and walking distance to everything in the French Quarter of NO. Clean and quaint with a beautiful courtyard with seating and a soaking pool. Our room had a balcony overlooking the courtyard, surprisingly for being so close to Bourbon St it was not very loud. Complimentary water and coffee in lounge. We were only there for 1 night so I cannot say if there was a restaurant or breakfast there but it is walking distance to numerous dining options in the area.

Yelp
The hotel was impeccably clean and the staff were all beyond friendly. One of the front desk staff even offered to take pictures of my friend and I by the pool before we went to a ball! I cannot say enough good things about the staff, every person we encountered took pride in their job and were a pleasure to be around. That being said, the hotel did have some flaws. It is half a block from bourbon st so expect it to be very loud at night, especially on a Saturday night! Know this going in! Being ear plugs and you'll be fine. Secondly, the room we were in was lovely but the shower was slightly raised from the rest of the bathroom and that made the water tub onto the bathroom floor every time we took a shower. We had to line the floor with towels to keep it from flooding. It's a very poor design. Also, the toilet ran constantly after almost every flush and we'd have to open the back to adjust the chain, otherwise it would run all night. Aside from these minor things, we had a great stay here. We really appreciated the complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water in the lounge.

Yelp
My wife and I visited your hotel Le Marais from February 14th to February 19th for my 50th birthday celebration and stayed in room 206. We wanted to choose a hotel that was upscale, close to the strip with in house amenities but what we got was a very small room (Premium Room) and not one of the simplest amenities. If I was to give anything a good rating it would be the location and the staff. I also had 14 other people that joined us on our recommendation that were extremely disappointed. From the arrival we were greeted with extreme disappointment with the bar and being told that it had been closed since Covid but the website never mentioned any such thing, the outdoor area that was filthy, and the pool looks like a cesspool, to the reck of a premium suite that we paid extra for and smelt like gym socks as if the rugs had never been washed, to the elevator malfunctioning repeatedly, this hotel disappointed in every area that we could think of. The outdoor furniture is in horrible shape and was not cleaned and the indoor furniture was only slightly better. The draft in the half locking balcony in the premium room was brutal with the temperature dropping below 35 degrees outside it became a huge chore to warm the room and stay warm with the flimsy bedding. We did not even have a refrigerator or microwave to keep our food cold or to warm it up. There was not one microwave in the entire building from what we were told which is extremely unacceptable. We are extremely embarrassed because we chose what we thought was an upscale boutique hotel to host a milestone event and ALL of our guest were extremely dissatisfied with the accommodations. The hotels misrepresented its self in in publishing and I truly expected so much more from the J Collections brand. I have stayed at plenty of their hotels and this by far the worst experience that I have ever had. This was a once in a lifetime event that we spared no expense with, and with all the tragedy that we have experienced in the passing year, this was to be the moment where we forgot our heartache and sincerely enjoyed a moment. We did our best to overlook the obvious discrepancies and keep our guests entertained but the overwhelming feeling of "where did you bring us too" seemed to be the mantra for the week. Knowing that I was not the owner of the hotel, I still feel responsible as I was the spokesman for your establishment. None of this can I change. It is a moment in time that will forever be what it is and for that I am severely disappointed.

Yelp
Do not stay here the housekeeping staff steals and are in a possible theft ring. Management does the bare minimum to help and you will have to hound them just to find out the cameras in the hallway magically don't work. They will gaslight you as well. The theft occurred the night of july 6th during essence festival weekend My makeup bag with emergency money was sitting on my made up bed before leaving for a concert. I do my makeup while sitting in bed and zip up the large toiletry bag - so none of the items are laid out. Also we did not have housekeeping service to makeup the bed during our stay- we received fresh towels handed to us by the housekeeper that morning. With it being so hot after brunch (2:30pm) we went back to the room- showered and did my makeup for the concert. We left out the room after getting ready, stopped at copper monkey then walked a block up to call our uber and take pics. Ordered the uber outside at 5:22. Our pics show a time stamp of 5:28pm. We returned from the concert at 12:20. Next morning on sunday july 8, i wake up take a shower put on my swimsuit and went to retrieve my face sunblock from my makeup bag and realized the bag was gone. I checked the room from top to bottom, under the bed, in the bed, my luggage, my friends bed and luggage, bathroom, safe, drawers, dark corners and even the trash can (although to big to fit in it), unpacked my large suitcase and then repacked it -we did this 3x. We then came to the conclusion it was clearly and undoubtedly taken from our room. Not only does the makeup bag have high end products and some unused products but emergency cash in it. There is only one elevator for all 5 floors and u have to have a key to access the elevator there are cameras in the hallways. Management dragged there feet to help and we're on the defense- also no professional introductions or titles given unless i asked who they were. People at the hotel and surrounding businesses told me this hotel is known for housekeeping stealing and there are reviews on other platforms that also confirm this. I don't take theft lightly or think it's funny. I can substantiate my times and locations very easily. No compensation was attempted or given - it seems to be brushed off by management. Rest will in the pics if anyone wants to read in depth Location was ideal - in b/t bourbon and french quarter Small boutique hotel- rooms were clean and update Pool yard area was outdated and dingy No hotel bar, microwave or fridge No breakfast as advertised. Doors do not close properly to rooms Positives: Alesha and Pierre! These 2 are very professional and are doing there best! Had it not been for the theft i would have recommended this place based off their service. Pierre should be manager- he cares about his job and truly respects guest!

Yelp
Centrally located between Royale and Boutbon this hotel is perfect location in French quarter yet no noise once inside. Has a small pool, outside courtyard ,bar and gym . Rooms spacious and clean. Keycards often do not work on elevator but helpful staff will easily get you new one. Staff is friendly and helpful with quick check ins and out . Safe and well priced in this area

Yelp
This hotel was adequate for our couple nights. The room felt clean, nothing alarming or noticeable. The front desk staff and security officer who was out at night were all very pleasant. Very convenient to bourbon street, but absolutely no noise in our rooms at night. Would recommend this place!

Bea W.

Yelp
Would recommend this hotel- The good-location is perfect-one block off bourbon street but quiet-our room faced courtyard and was completely quiet. Room ending in 1,2 are by the elevator. Staff is great/friendly and helpful. The room was clean, plenty of towels. Outdoor furniture nice. Sun on the patio before noon. Good coffee in lobby in am. The "could be better" (there is no "bad")-furniture looks worn with scratches, scratches on the flr, room small, bar closed-pool not heated or taken care of-if pool important don't come here. Otherwise hotel was good and may stay again

Yelp
Pierre is the best. I will stay anywhere he is because he is truly a gem! He was so helpful. He was always in a good mood, just brightened our days. He is just such a good vibe. The other ladies were all friendly, gave us great suggestions, everyone was helpful! We got a room with a balcony and I highly recommend it. It's just to eat beignets on your balcony with coffee in the morning. The location is in the middle of the quarter, and we never missed anything. It was just perfect for walkability or just needing to run back to the room for something. With that being said, consider the noise, itsnot awful, but there are delivery trucks and honking in the mornings and bourbon street at night. Consider if you are a light sleeper! The shower pressure was good, it got really hot so we really enjoyed that! Towels are hotel towels, but they stock a lot in the rooms! They have hair dryers and make-up mirrors, which is cool! The only real downside we had was that there isn't a fridge, but it was probably good because it forced us to consider portion sizes when ordering places.

Yelp
Stayed 3 nights from 01/24 thru 01/27. Centrally located in the French Quarter, Hotel Le Marais is right between Bourbon Street and Royal Street. After seeing others reviews about the nightly noise from Bourbon Street, I came prepared with ear plugs, since I'm a light sleeper. I will say the first night I did hear the music until rather late 2-4am, but the other 2 nights I didn't hear much after midnight. The hotel is only about a 5-10 minute walk to most locations in the French Quarter (i.e. Jackson Square, Riverfront, French Market, etc.). We got a room on the second floor with a balcony, which I loved! Got to see some of the marching bands and hustle & bustle of Bourbon Street during the day. King bed room was perfect for our stay, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. The shower was a little strange, since there's only half a shower wall and water would splash out a bit, but we made do. They gave us 2 complimentary bottles of water in the room, and in the mornings we got coffee/tea and found out they had more water bottles in the lobby area by their bar (which is still closed). Their center courtyard has a small pool and lounge chairs. Check-in was easy, and staff were all friendly. Check-out was at 12pm and our flight was a bit later in the day. I saw online & checked with front reception that they have a baggage check to keep your luggage for you, which worked out really well for our schedule and made me have peace of mind during our travels!

Yelp
Stayed at the Hotel Le Marais for one night after an evening in the French Quarter. The hotel was great. Very convenient, clean, and a nice room. This hotel is not directly on Bourbon Street, which is a good thing. Because Bourbon Street gets REALLY loud after dark. Even Hotel Le Marias had some late-night noise just because, well it's the French Quarter. But it was fine. The TV reception was terrible. All the channels were low def and pretty crappy. But honestly you probably won't watch too much TV in NoLa. We stayed in a Deluxe room (least expensive). The room was very nice with a comfy bed. Everything was clean and well kept. The hotel does not have a restaurant or bar. But those are not far away outside of the hotel. It does have a very pleasant outside patio (pictured below) which was a nice place to chill after an evening out. Overall, a nice place and a very good value. I would stay there again.

Heidi V.

Yelp
This is my second stay at this hotel. Such a different experience. Upon arrival construction and homeless people laying everywhere. Inside the lobby. Bar is closed. Hasn't been open since Covid. So why keep up the outdoor lounge space if you can have a drink there. Pools dirty and not heated. Our room with a tiny balcony is lovely for an hour in the afternoon but unbearably noisy until 3am in the morning. The room is clean. The king bed just barely ok.

Yelp
I've put off writing this review hoping something good would come to mind about our stay, but I'm still struggling, so here goes. One night: check in Sunday, 12-18 (post-Saints victory - chaos in the quarter!), check out Monday, 12-19. 1) No signage anywhere on where to park that was visible from the car, and the website wasn't clear on this detail. Told husband take a right into the parking to the right, and THANKFULLY we found a valet for the Royal Sonesta there willing to take care of our car. 2) Gentleman at check in was not welcoming, and I think he answered every question about where & what we had with, "Just go out...and walk down...and...." Did I mention it was chaos? My other favorite response was, "I don't know." 3) NO food options in the hotel whatsoever except for breakfast drinks. No vending, no to-go snack options, just "You can go to the Walgreens around the corner and..." I came down and asked where I could get a Diet Coke, and thankfully there was someone from housekeeping who volunteered to get me a drink from the kitchen, even though she was obviously off the clock and waiting to go home. 4) Even if I found food, there was NO refrigerator nor microwave in the room. I get there is probably quite a bit of loss involved with appliances during Mardi Gras, but that's the purpose of a security deposit. 5) The elevator felt often as if it wasn't going to open the door. 6) The next morning the door keys quit working on the door, but not on the elevator. When I brought them to the female desk clerk's attention, she said, "They say they are activated, and look, they work on the elevator." I told her I understood that, but they don't work on the door. I just had my husband stay in the room so I could get back in. 7) Where can I get breakfast? "Out the door either to your right or left; they're all up and down the street." Yep, just what I wanted to do - walk on Bourbon Street by myself while my husband waits in the room so I can get back in with our breakfast. Oh, and we had nowhere to store leftovers, because did I mention, no refrigerator? 8) We checked in around 10P, check out was noon, and our flight didn't leave until 7:25P. (Not many choices to Salt Lake.) Could we please get a late check out? No, noon is our latest was the response. However, as I'm leaving to find breakfast, a new guest thanks the female desk clerk for allowing him an early check in. Nice. With the $40 parking, corporate discount + taxes, our room was $290 - more than the gorgeous/had everything hotel we stayed in two nights prior. Don't waste your money at this property.

Yelp
Our May 2022 stay at the Hotel Le Marais was a great way to enjoy New Orleans and it's French Quarter. This small boutique hotel is truly close to the heart of all the Quarter's famous restaurants, bars, antique shops and historic buildings. Our top floor (5th) King room faced the courtyard and noise wasn't a big issue, it was furnished like a mid-range hotel with a small coffee maker (but no fridge), flat screen TV, good AC, good Wifi, good lighting, and very comfortable bed. All the staff we encountered were friendly. Rooms, fitness room, pool area, coffee bar, and lobby were usually kept clean as best as they could. No free breakfast (but Cafe Beignet with good food and coffee is less than a block down Royal towards Canal). There are large convention style chain and 5-star hotels up and down gritty and sketchy Canal Street ... we thought the intimacy and location of Hotel Le Marais is a much better and less expensive choice.

Yelp
I would definitely stay here again! I didn't pick the hotel a friend did because she's been to NOLA many times so she knows the layout of the streets. But now I know why she picked this place, it's in a great location! I would never see myself staying directly on bourbon street after visiting, and thankfully I didn't! Because it gets loud! This hotel is located right in the middle of everything, on one corner is bourbon street and the other is royal street, either way you go you're surrounded by everything, but you can also sleep at night without hearing the craziness on bourbon The two men who rotate shifts at the front desk are so nice! We upgraded to a balcony room with a view of the courtyard & pool, which is so beautiful and relaxing to just chill out there, which we did many times to give our feet a break. The rooms were clean, spacious, recently renovated, water pressure & hot water was awesome, bed very comfortable, the only suggestion I have is please add mini fridges!!!!!!

Tariq H.

Yelp
As a standard hotel, this place is decent. The staff are friendly, things are clean, and there are a couple of chill areas to hang while you wait for your group. But for the price? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Things potential bookers should know, in order of what *I* consider the most influential when considering a place to stay: The noise levels from the surrounding streets will depend on where your room is. We were lucky enough to have a window facing the courtyard, so it was really quiet and we weren't disturbed at all! But we had to get another room because we brought more people than planned, and they had to deal with some levels of noise that made it a little hard to sleep. That said, it did taper off relatively early in the night but later than some may like. Also, the bathrooms were really strange? The shower had, like, half a door, which made showering with a partner (to save water, get your mind outta the gutter!) not very nice because it was chilly outside of the water. The bathroom also has a sliding door so it's not very sound dampening. For people who consider privacy when it comes to using the bathroom or don't like hearing others use the toilet, not ideal. For those who like hotel bars, this one has been closed since the pandemic and hasn't opened since. But honestly? Not a huge loss, just walk down the street! Amenities are fine, very standard. The hotel body wash smells amazing, so that's nice. The coffee is decent, but it's the only thing they offer in the lobby. For the price, I'd have liked some food as well. At least some snacks. The great thing about NOLA is the food mostly everywhere is delicious, so again it's not a loss but some choices or a hotel shop with snacks and travel essentials would have been a better use of space. And speaking of the lobby, the hotel elevator takes *ages*. It's like, I think the ropes must be greased with molasses or something. Faster to take the stairs. All in all, a very okay hotel. Not grand, not worth the price, but if you use points to book then it's decent! And I really did like the staff, they are kind and full of great suggestions for places to go. With a few tweaks, I may stay again. But I don't think I'd recommend it to a friend.

Ms. Fab F.

Yelp
The hotel is one of the best location wise. It is close to everything and I do mean everything!!! However, don't accept a hotel room with the following numbers: 202, 302, 402 and 502. These rooms are located directly across from the elevator and trust me it is noisy. The room was ok but housekeeping needs to do a better job. The bathrooms were hideous and you can tell they don't spend enough time cleaning them. Would I stay here again? No, because there are other hotels in the same vicinity.

Dax M.

Yelp
Stayed here with group of 6. Excellent service in every way. Friendly and helpful front desk, clean rooms, comfy beds. Fantastic location. Not some lame chain hotel. I'll be back.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here, we stayed 5 nights and had a really great time. This hotel is so centrally located to everything, Bourbon Street is literally right next door and you can walk to any French quarter location. That being said: we stayed on the 5th floor and could still hear the hustle and bustle of bourbon until about 4am every night. This wasn't an issue for us as we knew what we'd be getting into staying so close to the party but beware if you're looking for peace and quite. Pierre was awesome, always greeted us as we walked through the lobby, checked us in fast & early and answered any questions we had. The rest of the staff was friendly as well. I highly recommend this place.

Kelly H.

Yelp
The 2 stars is really earned by each of the incredible doormen at this location. Truly a delight, even if they just kinda hang back. Also the courtyard is lovely, and ultimately, as pretty easy going people, we did enjoy our stay. I probably would have stayed there again if it wasn't for the $310 charges added after checkout. First, when we checked in, we were sent to a room that had the beds pulled out from the wall: no bedding, no pillows. Okay. That's fine. They moved us to a room on the second floor instead of the top, which might have bugged a bit if the elevator wasn't so slow. We were happy to take the stairs. They evidently misplaced my check in information, and didn't correctly note we moved rooms, because for 2 days in a row I had to explain the room change when our key cards stopped working. Again: no big deal. They have to replace every key which is weird, and they also weirdly don't want to give you more than 2 of anything even when you pay for the extra person. If I paid for 3 people, you should automatically give 3 cards. Nope. 2 each time, even when I asked for more. They're also really persnickety: many times I was worried they stopped working in addition to the the few times they did. The showers are nice: water splashed out quite a bit but probably because the water pressure is incredible. Beds comfy enough, pillows great. Not the cleanest, though. I'm in the habit of checking under the beds before I leave for lost socks, etc. and found sauce packets, debris, and dust bunnies underneath. Again. Not a big deal. The charges though? Pretty lame. I haven't called yet to find out why but we didn't smoke, throw up, etc. The number of key cards constantly needing replacing? The fact that we asked for an extra robe? My friend put up a balloon banner and inflated maybe 6? Balloons that we left due to not having something sharp. Not my most responsible checkout with a 4am departure from NOLA but nothing gross. Should have at least called it good for the rest of the inconveniences.

Yelp
BAD EXPERIENCE. Broken elevator during our stay. Had to go up 5 floors only to realize their electronic keys are broken. Had to go back up and down again. No other rooms available in the lower floors. Clerk at the front joked about "putting our steps in". Not funny when you're tired from walking all day touring the city. GIving 2 STARs just because housekeeping services was good

Yelp
*Continued from above Edit: 01/16/23 I called Dauphine Orleans for Deborah the reservations manager (she did not call me but, benefit of the doubt was probably busy.) I was transferred to her line and introduced myself trying to have a better mindset with this conversation. I asked her how she was which she replied with a curt "I'm fine." Which, made me assume immediately she has heard of me or seen my review. Possibly both because it was not a kind introduction. I told her I just need a cancellation email in writing. She got right on it, but mentioned they did not have my email on file (which was the exact opposite of what the gentleman who cancelled my reservations at first told me.) I let her know and she did say it was not on file. Fine. There is an obvious communications break down somewhere since the other person assured me he sent the email. I gave her my email and she mentioned it would be about 25 minutes before the email could come through. I thanked her for her help as she was VERY helpful and she is obviously the person you need to talk to for reservations issues. I received the email about 15 minutes later which is great, and an honest relief. I have to say it is not a traditional email cancellation confirmation for a hotel but more of a word template made for specific asks like this. But, I can not confirm it's just what it seems like. Either way there is confirmation which is good. Oh, also the man on the phone who cancelled my reservation said the cancellation confirmation number is the same as the reservation confirmation number. It indeed was not. Lol. The number on my cancellation email is not even the same number that Elaine and Lawanda gave me.. which is interesting and I wanted to make note of that here. Over all what an experience, I'll never forget it. Lol. It is almost comical how horrible all around this was. I am sure the properties are lovely but i never had the chance to even stay there before I was treated this poorly. So unfortunately I will not be recommending any of the following properties from J collections to travelers. Bottom line, the hotel lost out on $1200+ Just from these 2 reservations alone.. but again they didn't seem to mind and will make up for it. But will never make up for the way they treated myself or my mom. And since I have not heard from management and Deborah was most likely aware of my issues and did not ask to elaborate so she could either pass it on and use it as a training moment or pass it to a GM. They most likely don't really care and are glad to probably put this behind them. But it will happen to someone else again, and then there will be another poor review. I hope it does not, as most people we do not like to be treated badly and want good experiences when we are willing to put our money into things. I hope someone does see this, and please let me know if a manager does want to speak with me on this. I would be happy to tell my side and they can take it as they will. Thank you.

Wonderful place to stay during a visit to NOLA! Great location in the French Quarter. In easy walking distance to everything: restaurants, shopping, bars. Room was large and comfortable, with free water bottles daily; free WiFi; and a great free breakfast with scrambled eggs, grits, sausage, bacon, fresh orange juice, coffee, pancakes, etc, etc. We also got free vouchers to have one drink each in their bar, Vive! Tip: Ask for a room facing the hotel's courtyard. We had one, and you could still hear Bourbon Street until 2 am nightly, but quieter than the rooms facing the street.

Yelp
We stayed here for my sister's 40th birthday celebration and it was AMAZING! The decor and ambiance were on point and added so much to our visit. I cannot say enough about how wonderful and helpful the staff was! They constantly went out of their way to be helpful and accommodate us. The breakfast buffet was amazing, we crawled down from our rooms each morning and nursed our hangovers with incredible food and then slithered back upstairs, it was perfect. Lol This place is such a gem; it's the only place I'll stay in NOLA!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed 4 wonderful nights at this hotel at the very end of August and we will definitely be coming back. At check in, each person staying in the room will get a free drink pass a Vive! which is the small bar on the first floor. The hotel is smaller but has a contemporary feel. Its decorated with black and bold violets with a few silver touches. Theres a touch screen TV by the one elevator that will inform tourists about the French Quarter plus show you which restaurants/venues will give you specials if you are staying in their hotel. When you walk into your room, you get two complimentary bottles of water. We got a Deluxe King room with a window facing the courtyard. The linens were white and perfectly pressed. It was clean and modern. The bathroom boasted a standup shower with a partial glass separator. There were ample towels under the modern sink. Parking is valet only which is located directly across the hotel in a parking garage shared with Hotel Sonesta. Valet is an additional 30/night with in and outs. The hotel has various specials on their website and I highly suggest you read thru which works best for the purpose of your stay and take advantage of them. I used their 'Summer in the city' Special which included free valet parking. The room comes with free Wifi that is pretty steady and fast. Every morning the bar area where Vive! is gets converted into the breakfast buffet with a decent selection of juices, bagels, muffins, cereals, milk, bacon, sausage, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, coffee (of course) from about 7:30 am to 10:30 am. I found the location to be just perfect. Its not incredibly crazy right outside on Conti, but as soon as you walk out the front door, 20 feet to the right is Bourbon street and 20 feet to the left is Royal. Both get pretty nuts no matter what day of the week it is so its a bit relieving for me. The staff was very helpful. Room service was swift. Overall I am happy with our choice and pleased with my stay.

Yelp
This is a great hotel in the heart of the French quarter. Nice boutique hotel with a nice little bar and free breakfast in the morning. It has a small little gym if you want to catch a quick workout. The door locks at 10pm and the elevators always require a key to access. So the security features are great. It's a street and half over from bourbon street so just far enough we didn't hear noise all night. We would stay here again it's in the heart of everything and we really enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
You know how occasionally you are surprised by how great a place is, and then you are reluctant to share how good it was because a) you still want to be able to get in and b) how could it possibly have been so good? Well, that is what our stay at this hotel was like. I booked it after checking the other two hotels we usually stay at, because this one was considerably cheaper for the dates we wanted. Plus, it included breakfast every morning! From the moment we got there and interacted with the friendly and efficient front desk person, to the morning we left, everything was wonderful. The one exception was a drippy shower faucet that took 3 days to fix - but as long as we kept the bathroom door closed, it was fine. The food at the breakfast buffet every morning was different and good - with pastries, fruit, eggs, biscuits, bacon, and potatoes, just to mention a few items in the rotation. In addition to the two complimentary bottles of water in our room, there were also bottles available in the tiny workout room. Our room was good sized, with a comfortable king bed, and was made up promptly each day. We were a pretty good distance from both the elevator and ice machine, so it was nice and quiet, with the exception of the door slams from the occasional inconsiderate guest. I love that the hotel only had 5 floors, because it made the wait for the elevator very quick. Located the perfect distance from the French Quarter, with the cool style of an old building that has been charmingly modernized, we would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Sunday night, great check in, great service!! Monday night?? TV's and phone not working, walked down (elevators very slow), desk clerk was absolutely no help, no answers. Room was very nice and clean, bed was very comfortable! Monday night, staff just didn't come across that they were very interested in helping.

Yelp
So disappointed. They cannot help the construction or covid fallout but every service aspect of this charming hotel is just - meh. The pool isn't clean. The pool sofas and chairs don't have cushions half the time. They weirdly come and go. Nobody cleans up bottles and dirty towels. Construction means you "valet" park a block away but still get charged $45 a day. Nobody is at the front desk half the time or they are watching videos loudly. The housekeeping staff came in and collected dirty towels but did not straighten up, clean or make the beds. When I complained they said they were short staffed. We were not informed of this when we booked On Expedia. They were in the room - so 10 minutes is all it would have taken to tidy up. We were gone 10 hours and the hotel is not busy so they had time. Then bar and lounge are closed while other hotel bars are bustling. I love the idea of staying at a charming independent boutique hotel but this has been a mediocre experience.

Yelp
MOLD!!!!!!! When we got to our room first thing we noticed was the mold smell and then we opened the window panes and saw why. The only reason it gets one star is because of Brian at the front desk trying to accommodate us in to other rooms but each room had the same moldy smell. We immediately booked another hotel and left. Still got charged for one night room and tax.

Yelp
The hotel is nice and modern compared to many I reviewed in the French quarter. A bit pricy but it also is one of the biggest party weekends here in New Orleans (Halloween), so that has impacted the prices. The #VoodooFest music festival is the 3rd biggest event in New Orleans from what I'm told so the rooms are expensive this weekend. I imagine it's much less pricey during non holiday seasons. Breakfast is included in the price and the breakfast was very good. They also have a nice little bar that you can have drinks at and take into the courtyard.

Yelp
I haven't had an actual family vacation in a very long time so when it came to booking lodging, I wanted to make sure it was a decent place. I looked through a bunch of airBnB places but finally settled on this hotel because of the unique lighting, the complimentary hot breakfast buffet, and its location in the middle of the French Quarter. All in all, great hotel, friendly staff, fair pricing and location for a 5 night stay. Next time I come to NOLA, it will be here.

Yelp
My wife and I have stayed here the last few years while attending Jazzfest. We keep coming back because staying here is so much better than staying at one of the big chain corporate beehives, which we find to be cold and sterile. The hotel is small enough to avoid the feeling of being part of a crowd, but big enough to offer the services we need. The atmosphere is calm instead tumultuous. There is good free breakfast, decent free wifi, a quiet courtyard, a business center and an exercise room. They don't nickel-and-dime you. You get vouchers for a couple of free drinks at the small, quiet bar. You can join a loyalty program (Stash) that can get you some free days at various affiliated hotels. They don't have a pretentious overpriced restaurant, room service or minibars, which is fine by us. You don't come to New Orleans to eat overpriced garbage. Good food is never hard to find. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but not opulent. The location is fine- step out into the French Quarter. The most important element for us, though, is the staff. They are all friendly, at all levels, in our experience. They try to responed to your needs. You feel embraced, figuratively, and sometimes literally. Hospitality is real here.

Yelp
As a value hotel, it is hard to beat this option if you are looking to stay on Bourbon street. This hotel's pricing is competitive, that was the only aspect that I enjoyed. The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were awful. Customer service was non-existent had to call the front desk 4 times within an hour to obtain an amenity. I was placed on hold and told " can I call you back I am helping a guest". Apparently I was not a guest when I called.... Again this is a great value hotel, with a location right on Bourbon street, so if location is a big deal for you, stay here. I can't recommend it for any other reason.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor do not book here Worst hotel ever!!! They cancelled my rreservation and won't refund me my money !

Patty H.

Yelp
Location is great but the noise from the streets was a bit too much. Hard to sleep. The walls are paper thin and we could hear our noisy neighbors partying all night. There are no amenities to this place. Bar is closed. No mini fridge in the room. The front desk is not helpful at all. Aren't they supposed to cater to their guests? Because just trying to schedule a taxi to the airport seemed like a hassle for them. Besides the location, I would find a better hotel to stay at in the Quarter.

Yelp
THIS IS THE BEST HOTEL IN THE FRENCH DISTRICT! It's literally a few feet from Bourbon Street and all the madness but, is far enough where you don't get all the noise that comes with it etc. when trying to sleep. We came during the first weekend of Mardi Gras activities and were impressed at how close everything was. Hotel and rooms were super clean. Staff was very courteous. To top it all off, they give you two free drink tickets to the hotel bar upon check-in. Will be staying here again next time I'm in town. A++++

Yelp
The most wonderful people we have dealt with throughout our journey of New Orleans. Pam is a godsend, and deserves a raise. We had a delayed flight, and she had already checked us in and had us ready to go as soon we finally got to the hotel. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

Yelp
We booked the Hotel le Marais as a central location in the French Quarter and because it was more unique than a standard chain. The hotel itself is small, but nice. The female concierge who was there most days was very friendly (didn't catch her name). She recommended some good food spots and gave us coupons twice that we were able to use (free appetizers, I'll take it!) In the lobby and downstairs there are big plush chairs and a bar which is where breakfast was served in the morning - breakfast consisted of bagels, pastries, yogurt, eggs, bacon, coffee/tea, cereal, etc. The room itself was very nice. Nothing out of the ordinary - king size bed, armchair, desk. The bathroom had nice dark tile but one complaint is the shower shelf was behind you when you were in the shower so you had to reach awkwardly or turn around to get your soap/shampoo. Weird layout. Overall our stay was fine. One night our next door neighbors were loud and super talkative for a few hours. Annoying but I felt super lame calling the front desk to say "Hey we're in new orleans and people are awake when I'm trying to sleep." But I was sick the entire trip and frustrated. The next night there was music playing somewhere outside that was very audible - I could feel the music against the windows, but thankfully it stopped around 11. I had read through reviews before we got here and people seemed split on whether this was a quiet or noisy hotel. Overall, you could NOT hear anything from Bourbon St. where our room was. I can't vouch for other rooms, however. I'm not sure where the music came from on Saturday night. If I were to come again, I would pick a hotel a little further away from Bourbon St only to have a quieter overall experience. When you want to sleep, you want to sleep, not worry about noises or music.

Yelp
GREAT PLACE TO STAY! Hotel Le Marais exceeded my expectations. My party of 12 came to New Orleans for a bachelorette party and the bride asked for a place close to bourbon that wasn't haunted, lol. This hotel was at the perfect location, not too noisy and close enough so that my girls didn't have to walk too far. The service was great from check-in to check-out. The concierge, Pierre, was very helpful and the crew helped us girls with anything we needed. Pierre even offered us tickets to house of blues. We needed a lot of water and they gave us as much as we needed. We lost our keys everyday (I know), and they replaced them. The room was clean and they had the needed toiletries available. What to expect: you need a key to take the elevator and enter the hotel after 11. They have free WiFi, but you have to reenter the PW every day. They only have one elevator so if it's not working...it's going to be a leg day. Cons: breakfast was good, but the sausage was over cooked 2/3 mornings. At night, they don't have much staff so you have to go down and pick up whatever you need from the lobby. The double rooms were a bit small. If we had known, we would've booked a bigger room.

Danielle M.

Yelp
Stayed here for a bachelorette. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Location is great, steps from Bourbon street. Unless you dont want the party atmosphere than don't stay in this area. But great for bach/bachelorette parties! However the rooms do not have any fridges, when we called down they did bring us a small one. But it only holds 20 beers. Also pool area is way smaller than it appears on Instagram, and was kind of disappointing

Yelp
I'm going to take a minute out of my oh-so-busy morning (yeah right) to inform fellow yelpers about a nice little boutique hotel in the Quarter. I haven't stayed a night here but I will soon. I had a pleasant evening last night at the hotel bar Vive. It's not really a hip bar (only due to the lack of customers) but it does offer hotel guests and locals a cool place to have a few drinks. Alex is a friendly and cool bartender there. The bar is clean and trendy. Had a great time hanging out with some tourists from NYC. Check it out if you're in the area.

Yelp
4.5 stars. I really liked staying in this hotel. The noise level was minimal, the location was fantastic and the hotel is beautiful. Also, the customer service was phenomena! From my last minute spazz when I called them freaking out that we might need an early check in, to the goodbye and invitation to return; they could not have been any sweeter! They also provided a nice breakfast, it is more than the coffee and bagels/dried cereal I have come to expect when I hear the term "continental". Lastly, the hotel bar was great and the pool is a lovely touch. My only issue was with the bed, the mattress was on it's last leg and as such I did not sleep very well during our stay. By night 4 I was very much looking forward to my own bed. I'm sure that's not the case in all the rooms though, but it bears mentioning since that's the only thing keeping this from a 5 star stay.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Le Marais. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is located in the heart of the French Quarter. The rooms were spacious and clean. If you are a light sleeper you may have a little issue with the noise level from the pool area or the street. I myself had no problems. I do find the room got a bit cold and wished for a heavier blanket at times, but the bed was so comfortable I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. The cleaning ladies were nice and did a great job cleaning the rooms. I also wish we had a fridge so we wouldn't have to use the garbage bins as ice coolers. The shower set up was a little odd in that it was partially open which I didn't like. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay immensely. Don't miss out on the free breakfast every morning.

Yelp
Perfect location: pretty much right in the craziness, but the hotel feels insulated and exclusive! Good value: the stay isn't exactly cheap, but they include a lot of nice little extras: free breakfast, free WiFi, free BOTTLED WATER and two free drink vouchers. Drinks at the bar are pretty affordable too! Great staff: the hotel is very well-staffed, 24/7. Pierre, who checked us in and was our concierge for the weekend, was fantastic. He knew my name, offered unique suggestions and genuinely wanted to assist us. The rest of the staff was great too: friendly, helpful and accommodating. The rooms: the rooms are a decent size for the area. Some aspects could use a facelift, like the old-feeling TVs, and some fascias, but the quality was good and what you'd expect for the price. The balconies are small, but a cool touch! Hotel Le Marais is a perfect example of a fine, boutique hotel in a great location. If you want to stay as close to the Bourbon St scene as possible, and want to stay in a "nice place," I would definitely give it a shot. We were able to walk to everything and had a great place to come home for breaks and at night.

Yelp
While Hotel Le Marais in itself is not a luxury 5 star hotel, overall it earns 5 stars. From the first moment we arrived the staff were friendly, polite, and very helpful. Erica? checked us in quickly, was so vibrant and even offered to help us find entertainment for the evening. Each time we came back to the hotel we were greeted and even when we passed it on the street. The attached bar, Vive!, makes great drinks and there is a pool on the property which I enjoyed twice (in November). While lunch and dinner are not served on the property there are many restaurants less than a few minutes walk and delivery is very easy. The hotel is immaculate, everywhere from the lobby, to the hallways, to the rooms. The rooms are on the smaller side but well appointed. We (my fiancé and I) stayed in a room with a king bed and never felt crammed. A safe is provided, which was appreciated. I wrote housekeeping a thank you note and Madeline replied which was very nice of her and she cleaned our room perfectly! During my second night here I had too much fun at the bar and forgot my sandals by the pool. I called the front desk the next day and housekeeping had them! Housekeeping does not play around here, they are constantly around making sure the hotel remains impeccable. My sister also stayed at the hotel with us and the only complaint (she had a room with a balcony) was she could hear people in the street below. I, on the other hand, did not have a balcony and did not hear one thing. I am a light sleeper and slept like a baby, every single night. According to the front desk, you can only book the balcony rooms directly through them. If you are interested make sure you bring ear plugs. Also, the balcony is shared with another room so make sure to lock your balcony door. This hotel is very close to Bourbon Street (literally around the corner) which makes it easy to walk to all the attractions and restaurants but at the same time avoid Bourbon Street, if you wish. The amenities are unbeatable. Complementary breakfast (cold cereal, bagels, danish, eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, potatoes, juice, fresh fruit, infused water), welcome drink, pool, gym. Though we did not use the parking, alike all other hotels in NOLA, they charge a hefty price. Unless you are roadtripping it to NOLA, I recommend not bringing/renting a car. We never felt the need for one. Thank You Hotel Le Marais for hosting my birthday adventure! And especially thank you Erica? At the front desk and Madeline at housekeeping. Also, please consider automatically refreshing balcony rooms with earplugs. Hope to see you soon!

Yelp
Currently staying at hotel. Room phone, and safe doesn't work. Reported immediately nothing fixed by maintenance. Room 202 flooded yesterday and made walking the stairs dangerous. Elevator does not work. Conti st. Is closed. Front desk locked me outside the hotel to have a smoke because she was working alone. Locked me outside the hotel on the sidewalk? Only 1 staff on premises at night doesn't seem safe. Couldn't redeem me in any way because I booked with a third party. Don't do it.

Will R.

Yelp
Undeniably good enough. Apparently the noise depends on where you are in the hotel. My room was near the back, and was extremely quiet. Hard to believe I was 30 meters from the heart of bourbon street. Charming, very French Quarter swimming pool area. Satisfactory breakfast--scrambled and boiled eggs plus decent coffee. Grits, hooray for being in the south, grits. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to NOLA, which is unlikely. There was a strange glitch checking in, and I got briefly stuck in the elevator. I attributed this to it being Christmas Day and thus having the B team on board. All quickly resolved.

Yelp
I did not actually stay here but my Mother and Friends and family did for my wedding. We had a meet and greet in the bar lounge area which had a huge turnout. I also got dressed in my mother's room so we could take pictures on the balcony for my wedding. everyone at this hotel was extremely accommodating. When I came to visit my mother they were very friendly! almost like family. Like everyone there knew who you were and was excited to see you. The rooms are beautiful. A bit on the small side but clean and orderly. Have safe place is on the quarter that are more boutique style and the rooms just don't have the same sort of freshness that the rooms do here. They allowed us to take pictures in the courtyard.

Yelp
Awesome location if you're going to Jackson Square and Bourbon St, it's only a couple blocks away! Very nice hotel. Erica at the front desk is the sweetest!

Shonta P.

Yelp
This hotel should actually be classified as a hostile. The hotel isn't clean and very under staffed. Dirty, dusty, sour smelling rooms with some an air conditioner unit that didn't work. Pay the extra and get a nice place to stay.
