Booked a more expensive room, and wrote on the booking that I don't mind having the less expensive room, as long as I can have a room at the back. For clarity - I only booked this about one week before arrival. On arrival I was given a room at the front, so my request was unable to be met/ From their point of view, I can understand this, but I was still a bit disappointed. ||The noise from the corridor and between rooms is bad/ You do not get this in properly noise insulated hotels. Thumping, talking, and running water should not be heard. ||At around 7am I start to hear a lot of inter-room noise. At about 7.45, I hear relentless loud scraping sounds, which sounded awful -very intrusive and very loud. At 8.15am someone knocks on my door and immediately, though briefly, enters the room (I was in bed) - This despite the 'do not enter' sign on the door, and the door lock turned - unbelievable !! I then look out and see they are pulling up the entire fitted carpet in the corridor (about 4 men are doing different things) - who does this, at this early in the morning, and what type of hotel allows this (/ books this at this time) + What type of hotel doesn't tell you this, when you check in, that this will be happening. - A complete and utter joke. Why has a carpet fitter, or whoever, got the authority to enter someone's room?! - Disgraceful. Imagine Someone had been changing in the room. Unprofessional, unsafe, stressful and idiotic.||After an hour of noise, it was then quiet for an hour, then all the workmen were back - they seemed to be fitting carpet in all the other rooms on this floor. The disturbance (scraping outside my door/ loud talking etc) continued, and my hope for a quiet morning, with a check out at midday, was not going to happen. ||The breakfast was average. It's in the basement in a long, narrow room. Some chopped apple, that wasn't very fresh, some bits were slightly bad. Little baguette left. No bananas. Some tiny bits of sausage left and a few soggy hash browns.||I will give recognition that this IS on a quiet road (impressive, for Central Paris), and the staff are pleasant. ||I brought this up (the disturbance and man entering the room) with the receptionist when I checked out/ he apologised, which although I can appreciate, it’s too late. Think ahead, I mean it shows a lack of leadership and organisation at the top. If the hotel responds to this, with a ridiculous response, expect me to write another (to them: think about what you're going to write).
