Le Phébus (Joucas, French Riviera / Provence) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set in a traditional Provençal farmhouse in the heart of the Luberon, Le Phébus & Spa is a luxurious getaway with a gastronomic restaurant and a stone-lined swimming pool with views over the surrounding countryside. Guest rooms are silent and elegant, with terracotta tile floors, buttery soft linens, and spacious marble bathrooms, plus practical amenities like Nespresso machines and complimentary iPads. Most suites feature a private terrace and pool, while a pair of freestanding villas come with fireplaces, bicycles, and butler service. Apart from the award-winning La Table de Xavier Mathieu, there’s a more casual courtyard café and bistro set around a pretty fountain; seasonal menus, naturally, are focused around fresh produce from the local markets. Cooking classes and spa treatments are on offer, and countless other diversions, from wine tasting to walking through lavender fields, await in the surrounding region." - Tablet Hotels

We loved this hotel. Incredibly beautiful, well kept, very low key so very relaxing. Great location |Would highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet , low key, beautiful experience We loved the very slow and relaxed atmosphere , treats every night from in house bakery and lovely snack bag (waters and homemade breads) when we left. Just what we needed to kick off our trip in Province

Well, no one is perfect, and that goes for hotels too. But this is a very special and charming venue that fits in and is in tune with the magnificent landscape. The mostly young staff are kind and earnest and really strive to provide you with a five star experience. I am especially grateful for several staffers that helped us overcome an exaspserating electrical/computer problem with a brand new lease car.We were on the way to a drained battery. Gollowing the advice of Car-2-Europe necessitated disconnecting the battery for a period of time and reconnecting it; which is not in my skill set.||The restaurant is justly praised for creative Michelin Star quality and originality. The breakfast too is quite pleasing.. ||We didn't avail ourselves of the spa and pool. Our room was comfortable and quiet, but there were some annoying deficiencies in our bathroom. They were very disappointing at this high price point. As is the case in far too many french hotels, the bathroom lighting is what I call "twilight zone." Dim track lights in a tall ceiling is depressing and unsatisfactory. Shaving for men, and applying makeup for women, is haphazard and ineffective.||While adding a rainwater shower head to an old thick and tall bathtub is a viable upgrade, when it barely comes up to my shoulders, it is not an enhancement. A stingy glass panel is not long enough to keep the water where it belongs. My wife had great difficulty getting in and out of the tob/shower. The lack of a secure bar at the back of the shower and the slipperiness of the tub were real safety hazards for her and I suspect other guests.||Maintaining a property of this size and grandeur in this coveted part of thr world explains the high prices. Whether you are getting your money's worth is a complex and personal calculation.

Simply amazing - we wanted to relax and this was perfect! Staff at check in, porter and waitstaff were amazing. Friendly, engaging and not intrusive all at once. The welcome wine, and focacia/evian send off treat were so thoughtful. We had a suite with private pool, and had to drag ourselves away. We had room service several times and each order was perfect. Provence is a dream and I don't want to wake up. I'd give it 6* for cleanliness, room size and facilites and STAFF. If you're looking for relaxation this resort is excellent.

This is the first time I’ve ever written a review, but I felt it was important to share our experience, as we were truly disappointed. We travel to Provence every year and usually stay within the Château Relais network, which has always been a guarantee of quality, comfort, and professionalism. Sadly, this particular hotel did not live up to that standard.||The room was unexpectedly small, and several basic amenities were missing. There was no complimentary water provided, and the minibar offered just one bottle of still and one of sparkling water. We were especially surprised by the behavior of the manager, who came across as impolite and unaccommodating—a far cry from the warm hospitality one expects at this level.||One of the reasons we chose this hotel was the advertised fitness facilities, but they were simply not acceptable. The gym consisted of just three pairs of dumbbells, a fitness ball, a bike, and a treadmill. The cable machine was broken, and no towels or water were available if you arrived before the spa’s official opening hours. The spa’s limited hours were also quite inconvenient.||Another unfortunate detail: if you’re sunbathing by the pool, be aware that diners in the restaurant have a direct view of the loungers—something that really detracted from the overall sense of privacy and relaxation.||On a positive note, I must say that the reception and breakfast staff were excellent—professional, kind, and efficient. Their service stood out and was the highlight of our stay.||All in all, this experience fell far short of the five-star promise, and we would unfortunately not return or recommend it.

Very nice rooms and great view. Spa access was an amazing perk. Tennis courts as well. Staff were helpful and kind. Would like to go back again.

One of the best places we stayed in Provence! We were in a lovely Suite with our very own pool. The property is beautiful, quiet, clean and comfortable. We never felt "crowded" since they have a limited number of rooms. The spa services were very good and the spa itself, was very enjoyable. We eat once on the property at Le Café de la Fontaine, which was excellent! Highly recommend this place! If you have the time, be sure to stay there at least 3 or more days. You'll thank me later.

Love a R&C visit! This place is beautiful and natural in its element. Very peaceful and beautifully understated. The staff was super, literally jumping to assist with reservations, cabs, anything requested. Chef Matthieu is constantly seen walking the property and speaking with guests. Very welcoming. We enjoyed a private cooking class. Our chef was knowledgeable and entertaining. We had a great time drinking rose and making a fowl dish with his tutelage. The restaurant is a gastronomic delight. We enjoyed the 5-course tasting and wine pairing… indescribable. Even the continental breakfast is delicious and way beyond your ordinary pastry offering. Our room was spacious. Drinking coffee in the quiet of the morning on the porch was an easy way to start the day. It was too chilly for us Americans to enjoy our plunge pool, but in the right temp this would have been refreshing. The spa was fairly sparse. Massage was good, but limited on luxury items in locker rooms. Nice indoor pool and sauna. Great location convenient to several villages.. Gourdes, Joucas and Rousillon.
