"Set in a traditional Provençal farmhouse in the heart of the Luberon, Le Phébus & Spa is a luxurious getaway with a gastronomic restaurant and a stone-lined swimming pool with views over the surrounding countryside. Guest rooms are silent and elegant, with terracotta tile floors, buttery soft linens, and spacious marble bathrooms, plus practical amenities like Nespresso machines and complimentary iPads. Most suites feature a private terrace and pool, while a pair of freestanding villas come with fireplaces, bicycles, and butler service. Apart from the award-winning La Table de Xavier Mathieu, there’s a more casual courtyard café and bistro set around a pretty fountain; seasonal menus, naturally, are focused around fresh produce from the local markets. Cooking classes and spa treatments are on offer, and countless other diversions, from wine tasting to walking through lavender fields, await in the surrounding region." - Tablet Hotels

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds however it’s a little dated in the rooms. We had two suites for our family of 5. The terrace was very small and the bathrooms had dated fixtures also the towels seemed very old almost threadbare. |Breakfast was a huge disappointment- very little selection and some days it had all pretty much run out by 10am even though breakfast is served until 1030. Juice had run out and there was no more - never come across this before. My children were hungry as they had just the option of baguette meat and cheese rather than child friendly options such as fresh pancakes, waffles, yoghurts, freshly chopped berries etc. All were absent and not even strawberry or raspberry jam. Very odd. |The hotel is severely understaffed and this reflects in the service. |The lunch and dinner menu is very limited and very few options for children so we went out each night. |Pool menu was also limited. |Staff were very pleasant but as I said not enough of them.|The staff did help my husband with a lively bouquet of flowers for our anniversary and they also gave us a lovely bottle of rose for the anniversary and when we left a lovely gift also of jam and wine. I can’t fault the staff at all I just think it needs more staff and some updates in the bathrooms.

I had an excellent September stay at Le Phébus & Spa,Provence. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was warm and genuine. The hotel's owner chef star Xavier Mathieu along with his staff, made the experience truly special. The food was exquisite, and the service went above and beyond. When I had a minor accident upon leaving, the concierge, front desk manager, and even chef Mathieu along with his young son and assistant personally assisted to ensure was taken care of. Exceptional hospitality from start to finish.

Beautiful Hotel with stunning views, our rooms were really nice and clean, staff always pleasant.|Just a couple of things to be aware of and a little disappointed |1. It was said to us breakfast was included, at checkout we were told it was not and it was 30euro pp for pastries there was one thing of scrambled eggs which looked different every day. The buffet never change the pastries were always the same , there were crepes that were ice cold (maybe it’s normal to eat them cold but definitely they did not taste that yummy) the fruit was really delicious as it was local.|2. Menu at the bistro very limited and unfortunately the waiters were not really nice although they place was not busy at all they took their sweet time to even bring a menu after watching us sit there for a little while.|3. The restaurants do not proved you with a bill.. all of a sudden at checkout they were o you want to see what you consumed? Very distasteful and a little scam in my eyes. Provide clear bills please from the beginning and inform guests how or what the policies are. I honestly left annoyed because of this. |Lovely hotel unfortunately this left a bad taste . The place is beautiful indeed and would definitely recommend just ask questions in the beginning

We loved this hotel. Incredibly beautiful, well kept, very low key so very relaxing. Great location |Would highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet , low key, beautiful experience We loved the very slow and relaxed atmosphere , treats every night from in house bakery and lovely snack bag (waters and homemade breads) when we left. Just what we needed to kick off our trip in Province

We had a weeks stay 9-15th August, the room and pool areas were good, fantastic views. The gym however was really poor lacking any real useful equipment or space. ||||We ate in the restaurant at the beginning of our stay, on the second evening I suffered a severe case of food poisoning…yes you are reading this right at a 5*hotel with Michelin star! ||||When I recovered after a couple of days, we reported this to reception. All they were interested in was booking another reservation as the restaurant was “very busy”. No response or reaction to the food poisoning at all…||||We didn’t eat at the hotel again.||||We have stayed in 5* hotels with Michelin stars in France and other countries, this hotel and restaurant falls way short of our experiences in all of them. ||||All in all would I go back to this hotel/ restaurant or recommend it to anyone else? Im afraid it’s a big NO from me.

Fabulous place to stay and either relax or use as a base for sightseeing Provence. We did a bit of both and had a fabulous time. Hotel staff are always available but never pushy. Place is truly 5 stars and the dining is fantastic - breakfast and the Bistrot and gourmet restaurant.

Well, no one is perfect, and that goes for hotels too. But this is a very special and charming venue that fits in and is in tune with the magnificent landscape. The mostly young staff are kind and earnest and really strive to provide you with a five star experience. I am especially grateful for several staffers that helped us overcome an exaspserating electrical/computer problem with a brand new lease car.We were on the way to a drained battery. Gollowing the advice of Car-2-Europe necessitated disconnecting the battery for a period of time and reconnecting it; which is not in my skill set.||The restaurant is justly praised for creative Michelin Star quality and originality. The breakfast too is quite pleasing.. ||We didn't avail ourselves of the spa and pool. Our room was comfortable and quiet, but there were some annoying deficiencies in our bathroom. They were very disappointing at this high price point. As is the case in far too many french hotels, the bathroom lighting is what I call "twilight zone." Dim track lights in a tall ceiling is depressing and unsatisfactory. Shaving for men, and applying makeup for women, is haphazard and ineffective.||While adding a rainwater shower head to an old thick and tall bathtub is a viable upgrade, when it barely comes up to my shoulders, it is not an enhancement. A stingy glass panel is not long enough to keep the water where it belongs. My wife had great difficulty getting in and out of the tob/shower. The lack of a secure bar at the back of the shower and the slipperiness of the tub were real safety hazards for her and I suspect other guests.||Maintaining a property of this size and grandeur in this coveted part of thr world explains the high prices. Whether you are getting your money's worth is a complex and personal calculation.

I arrived in a little peace of heaven. The entry and the garden al ready invites you to another level. At reception you feel a professional and warm welcome to check in. The room ( superior with balcony ) was with a great floor layout. The room was cleaned twice a day to my perfection. Breakfast was absolute stunning with great and top ingredients and varieties to choose from. Staff is very well trained and friendly. This hotel is a must in the area of Gordes ! The only negative point or suggestion I could bring up is that the reception staff ( which are only woman’s ) should get a help from a men to Carrie the baggage from the guests. I was feeling too embarrassed to let them carrie my havey bags to my room over th stops up and down to the room and did it rather myself.
