The check in was very efficient and welcoming, and our original room was very nice--it felt inviting, colorful, and cozy. However, after a couple hours in our room, a plumbing problem presented and we were told it couldn't be fixed and we needed to change rooms. The staff was very apologetic and quick to find us a new room. However, we were moved to a smaller room with less amenities that was much less cozy and it had a direct impact on our enjoyment of our stay. For example, one of the reasons we booked the hotel is because there was a room with a bath. When we were moved, the room only had an open shower. The new room also had a toilet where the door didn't close properly. At check out, I asked if the room we were moved to was the same price as the original booking (primarily because the vast difference in room comfort seemed it would be unlikely the new room was as costly). But we were told it was the same price. I mentioned we were disappointed with the smaller room size, bed, and lack of bath - it felt like we were downgraded. We were told we should have asked for a new room that had the things we were looking for. It made us feel like it was our fault that we weren't happy with the new room. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and we felt we spent way too much money for the quality of the stay and service we received. With the exception of check out, the rest of the staff was really kind and warm. It is unlikely that we would book this property again due to the failure to make us feel like valued guests.
