The location overlooking the lake is of course fantastic. On-site restaurant and bar are lovely, three pools to choose from (all operational when I was there). If you want to swim in the lake it's a bit of a climb down a wall to get there, or you walk through the bushes behind the small building at the far end of the pool area. Staff was nice even if maybe a bit uninterested, but can't blame them, there were barely any guests and they essentially kept the restaurant and bar open just for a tiny group. Everything friendly and nice. Rooms are a bit dated but everything works fine, so it's alright. WiFi was actually very decent.

Stayed here as part of tour across Senegal.||||Arrived at the hotel and were surprised by the facilities that include 2 pools and a large deck over the lake, with a fancy bar setup. That’s the positive part. ||||The room was on the smaller side and the bathroom needs an immediate refurbishment. The bed was comfortable and the aircon worked, unlike some of the other reviews. But the mosquitoes are present and definitely biting in the night inside the room…as the mosquito net has holes in it. Also the shower doesn’t work for more than a minute odd for hot water, so be ready for a cold shower. ||||Lastly, we did have a bad experience with the food. Our entire group got ill after dinner and we remained sick for the next 3-4 days…so it was a bad bug. This can happen sometimes but it is too much when coupled with the mosquitoes and the other infrastructure issues. ||||I would give this place the pass.

We never stayed at the hotel but ate at their restaurant. They have a large covered pier on the lake. It is beautiful and breeze, even if some planks look hazardous. The service was courteous and prompt. Most of the food was very good. The pizza dough seemed pre baked though, so not my favorite. The fish and chicken plates were very good. I would go again.

I had an enjoyable one night stay at Trarza. Would recommend the full board option. Food was okay and the staff are happy to oblige if you have requests. The pool is kept in immaculate condition. Nice grounds and garden. There is a new wing with 14 rooms. All with air conditioning, tv, and ample hot water showers. The restaurant on stilts above the lake : not to be missed! Wifi not available in rooms but at bar/restaurant area. Wifi signal not very reliable due to the area not the hotel. The boat ride round the lake costs 15,000 cfa if you want to stop at the salt collection area on opposite side. ||Staff are warm and obliging. At today's prices, good value.

I wouldn't stay here. The price is too expensive for what is offered it should be $15 a night not $60. I did eat at the restaurant a few times. The atmosphere is cool. My first experience was great I was amongst other tourists who were European my food and drinks were good and expensive. The 3rd time I was alone at the bar I didn't receive the same service as I did the 2 times previously my pizza was burnt. I asked if they could make another they basically went to the back and scrapped the black burnt crust and brought it back to me. I sat there waited for the bill literally there were 5 people behind the bar talking I was the only customer. It took 20 mins for the bill. I wasn't charged for the pizza which was 6,000 CFA however I still left a 2,000cfa tip even though I didn't get good service this time and wished them a good day. I noticed they treat and cater to Europeans better then black Americans. Please do better we tip too when service is good. I have sat and watched others not even leave tips.

We stayed here for one night, arriving late and me busting for the toilet after a long drive! One staff member, who spoke English, was super lovely and showed me to the “nice” toilet — there wasn’t any electricity so he also let me use his phone as a light (awwwww).||We seemed to be the only people staying there and other staff seemed indifferent to our presence. We had to ask for towels (they were nice ones, once they arrived), our balcony doors didn’t lock and there was a mosquito net over the bed but it had holes in it. The air-con was very poor in the room at first and the shower head squirted water everywhere… my friend and I had a semi-okay sleep — we both woke with sore backs and it was quite cold in the room as the air-con had finally kicked in!||We had some difficulty in the restaurant as half the food on the menu was not available and no-one spoke English (that’s okay — I do appreciate it’s not the country’s native language!) — we finally ordered food at 8pm (we were starving) and when it finally arrived, the meal was delicious (and huge!). Note that breakfast isn’t served until 8.30am — it was a very basic continental breakfast (omelet or crepe).

The bedroom was probably the best part of the hotel. It was clean, newly painted and the bed was comfortable but the tiny bathroom was run down, with the loo actually located in the shower. The mosquito netting on the balcony door had holes in it and the balcony door did not shut properly and certainly couldn’t be locked.||The main hotel area was run down with dirty tissues lying about. Food was poor, tasteless and overcooked. ||On the positive the two pools looked nice and were clean and were being enjoyed by various visitors but otherwise this hotel has little to recommend it.

Ideal location on the side of the Lake. Nice bar and restaurant area - you can even sit over the lake while eating.||Idea place to test the salty lake by having a float (it's very very salty), and there is a good pool.||Beware that some rooms don't have mozzie nets and the broken window screens let loads of bugs in, I got bitten all over! Usual selection of broken fixtures and fittings, but that's Africa. Check your room meets your needs!
