This is a tired hotel in need of a complete revamp of the rooms. While the common areas in the lobby have been refreshed, and reception/bar/restaurant areas are acceptable, the rooms are reminiscent of 20-year old Novotel's with scruffy walls, dingy toilets and mini-bathtub showers with no handles for the less agile amongst us. Even Campanile these days has walk in showers. Yes, I had a balcony with a view of Mont Blanc, but as for the rest, it's not a room in which you'd choose to spend quality time. The scruffy tin chair had seen better days, and the cabinet doors were loose and didn't shut. As for the rotary dial phone, I'm not sure whether it's an attempt by at retro-chic or they really haven't updated the internal phone system yet. On the positive side, the location is good, only a few minutes walk into the centre, it's near the bus station, and parking is excellent. Most staff are friendly but you sense the pressure they are under as service can be at times abrupt. Ushering guests out of the restaurant bang on the 10am breakfast deadline? Hm. Yes, I know, it's high season etc etc but for 400 euros a night, one does expect a more premium experience.
