We stayed in this hotel for just over a week in April 2012 and chose it based on the good reviews we had read about it and are sorry to say we were very disappointed. We reserved ahead of time and, as resquested, informed the owners of our arrival time in advance but they were not there to let us in. Their son let us in but failed to give us any details about the room which led to us getting shouted at by Florence the morning after for attempting to open our kitchenette incorrectly. ||||The breakfast is simply a piece of baguette and a glass of supermarket juice and coffee (that was often cold when we arrived to eat but was not refreshed). On the first morning the owner, Florence, barely acknowledged that we (2 new guests booked in for over a week) were there. So much for the warm welcome!!! Breakfast is supposed to be from 7-9am but when we arrived to eat on the second morning at 8.50 we were told we were too late and were reluctantly given the lukewarm jug of coffee to finish off. The next day when we arrived at 8.45 there were some sarcastic comments about us coming late. I don't think it takes that long for her to slice a piece of baguette!! For the remainder of the time we came at about 8am and Florence commented on how much more pleasant it is to get up early, etc. After taking a long haul flight to enjoy our VACATION we did not appreciate the comments about having a "merienda" habit.||||Florence told us that it was easier to hire a car to get around and, while she is right, we do not have driving licences so it was not possible for us to do so. Every day then we had to endure comments from her about how you really should have a car to get around and how the holiday would be much better if we had a car. Ok, but it's our holiday and let us enjoy it how we want! ||||In the evening time we could hear the family rowing in their house (which is part of the hotel complex) and the bad temper was evident at times. Bernard barely spoke to us when we were there and Florence, when she did talk to us, did so usually to chastise us. ||||On the day of check out, we were taking our bags out of the room at 11.07am (check out is at 11am) when she shouted at us from across the pool to hurry up as they needed to clean the room. We noted that a family in another room checked out about 10 minutes later without similar treatment. We got the distinct impression that she favoured francophones (we are non-native but fluent french speakers) as she appeared to be more friendly to them in the hotel.||||The hotel itself is nice, there is a small pool and a relaxation area and the rooms are simple but nice, with air con. The flowers and the birds in the garden are lovely and it is quiet at night. The only drawback is the attitude of the owner and that is enough for us to suggest that if you are thinking about staying here that you should keep looking.
