Hôtel Les Mouettes

Plage de Lorient is a perfect beach area for simple R 'n R. The Les Mouettes is right on the beach and an easy walk (across the street) for groceries, wine and spirits and only a few more steps to an excellent boulangerie (bakery). The bungalows (there are 3 buildings, each has two side by side living areas each with it's own private porch) are very clean and nicely furnished with towels, etc. and well maintained. Coralie and Claudette - mother daughter team - are terrific, very nice, easy going and speak English as well as their native language of French. ||Also nearby is the cemetery where Johnny Hallyday, a well known and loved French rock and roll pop singer and actor is interred. A short walk up the hill is the Lorient Church (Catholic) where services as well as community events take place.||Frankly, I love staying at Les Mouettes and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else :)

Les Mouettes is a lovely little hide a way directly on the beach in L'Orient. It is a very modest property for a simple quiet get away. The property is impeccably clean and the staff are very gracious. There are 6 air conditioned bungalows set for two. Each boasts a kitchenette and lovely patio directly on the beach. Across the street is a market and a few hundred meters away is an amazing bakery. It was recommended to us by some friends who spend a couple of months every year on St. Barths and use Les Mouettes for guest overflow. It is not fancy or pretentious, does not have a restaurant or TV, but if you want a conveniently located,clean reasonably priced bungalow directly on the beach this is your place. We will certainly be back next year.

Excellent location in front of Lorient Beach. Bakery, mini mart, gas station and some restaurants at walking distance. We stayed in room 6 and it was very nice and clean. I believe all rooms have ocean view. Nice, quiet and the porch is perfect for relaxing while you enjoy some wine, food and of course the view. Fantastic option for the price. Would stay again.

This lovely place is right on Lorient beach. The owner Claudette takes great care of all her guests. It's very neat and clean. And as the other posts said, grocery, bakery and restaurants very close. All of the rooms have a outdoor kitchens. We really enjoyed bringing dinner home or making something easy and having it out on our veranda. We will definitely be back!

Great location and experience. We went during the low season so things were very casual. PROS - Easy access to all of island...just turn right or left to explore either side! There is a small grocery store across the road for anything you need and not too expensive. Staff was relaxed and place was very clean. Our room faced the ocean and the breeze was fantastic. CON - It's small. No television (if that's your thing). No power adapter available. All outlets were 220. I know....noob mistake. Finally...no outlet for electric cars. If you have one of the small electric cars you can't charge it here.

If i could define value this would be it. This place is well thought out. Very European. Rooms are not large, but beds comfortable. Very clean- a very nice French lady comes in everyday to mop and clean. Claudetta, the manager I believe, is very friendly and helpful. I stayed in room # 7- which was the cheaper of the lot. Back from the beach, about 100 feet! I could still see the ocean. Doves come in for a little snack during the day; you might see some lizards strolling around. The little alcove outside your sliding glass door has a table and a nice looking mini kitchen. A hot plate, sink, refrig, coffee maker. No microwave. The AC was very cold if you so want it to be. My friend and I would sit outside for hours and just watch the waves. The bathroom, for a small room overall, was roomy. All facilities worked well. I could spend a month at this place. It is well located, just minutes from Gustavia by car. There is a grocery store (JO JOs just a short walk away), a French Bakery across the street, an excellent Wok Rest just down the street. Its a hit any way you look at it. My friend compared it to a mini Little Dix Bay. And if you are familiar with that place (at 500$ per nite), you will like this place. Again, this is a nice, minimalist quarters, at a very reasonable price (just search the prices around and you will see) 120 euros per nite, excellent location with superb ambiance. A real find. Had a recent stay at Les Mouettes, and it could not have been better. The mother-daughter team of Colette and Coralie run a well appointed and wonderfully positioned collection of beachside cottages on Lorient. For a relaxing low-key visit, this is certainly the place to stay.||These ladies were so kind and accommodating, we felt like members of the family.

Great location right on Lorient Beach. Good central location near conveniences, bakery,grocery stores a few restaurants. We enjoyed the outdoor kitchen on the large patio. It is a very clean property. We would stay again.
