I’m not even sure where to start, as there are just so many fabulous aspects of this hotel to recount. My husband and I just had our first trip to Sint Maarten/St. Martin, and I had wavered between booking this property and another popular one in Grand Case for our time on the French side. The moment we drove up the hill to the beautiful reception area, I knew I had made the right decision. We were enthusiastically welcomed by Christine, who offered rum punch and a celebratory bottle of wine to be placed in our room (I had emailed the hotel asking for recommendations for an anniversary dinner before we arrived). She walked us to the room and showed us around; it was delightfully cool with the A/C running, chill music playing, and a fridge stocked with complimentary soft drinks, water, and beers. These warm personal touches exemplify the atmosphere at L’Esplanade.
We stayed in a studio room, which was spacious, thoughtfully decorated, and unbelievably clean (not a speck of dust, even on the chandelier chain or in the sconces). The view of the bay from our balcony was stunning, and we enjoyed it alongside the delicious complimentary breakfast each morning. I opted in for fresh squeezed orange juice for a slight up charge and it made for perfect mimosas to kick off the day.
The pool area was beautiful and relaxing, and became our favorite place. Frank at the pool bar whipped up fantastic drinks and the simple menu was outstanding. I had some of the best fish I have ever had for lunch there one day.
We love to travel and it’s very tempting to explore other islands, but the experience at L’Esplanade is so impeccable, I find myself wanting to return as soon as possible.
