During my stay in Italy, I experienced a very serious incident at this hotel.
Late at night, a group of more than ten men were outside, loudly singing and shouting, making it impossible to sleep. I contacted the front desk, and they acknowledged the noise, explaining that it seemed to be someone’s birthday but that they could not intervene. They then offered to move us to another available room and asked if we would like to check the noise level there before moving. I agreed and went to the front desk.
The front desk agent instructed another male staff member to escort us to a different room. We were taken to Room 306, where the staff member opened the door and told us to enter.
Inside the room, it was immediately clear that another guest was staying there. There were personal belongings everywhere: bags, clothes, underwear, shoes, and signs that someone had recently used the bathroom and styled their hair. The guests appeared to be out at the time, but if anyone had been inside, we would have unknowingly entered a private occupied room, putting ourselves in an extremely dangerous situation.
I stopped the staff member and pointed this out. He did not appear particularly alarmed, called the front desk, and then led us to another room. By this time, it was already past midnight.
The next room had only one bed, which was completely unsuitable as we were a group of three adults. We returned to the front desk and explained that the room could not accommodate us. The front desk agent replied that he could prepare a suitable room for three people but that we would need to wait for one hour, and he attempted to end the conversation.
Before leaving, I asked him how he felt about having sent us into another guest’s occupied room. His response was simply, “I’m sorry, it was a mistake.”
At no point did he demonstrate an understanding of how serious and dangerous this error was. There was no sincere apology, no explanation, and no sense of responsibility. We decided that there was no point in continuing the discussion and returned to our original room.
I understand that outside noise is not always the hotel’s responsibility, and I appreciate that they attempted to offer an alternative room. However, this incident goes far beyond a noise issue. Guiding guests into another occupied room late at night is a severe safety failure.
The hotel will likely choose not to inform the affected guest that strangers were allowed to enter their room.
Yet the idea that unknown individuals entered one’s private room late at night, even in the guest’s absence, is deeply alarming and unacceptable.
This is not an exaggeration — under different circumstances, I could have lost my life that night.
The hotel itself is clean, and the other staff members were kind and professional. This should have been a wonderful stay. Nevertheless, this is the first time in my life that I have felt compelled to write such a review.
There are many hotels in this area. No matter the situation, I strongly advise against staying at a hotel that can make such a critical mistake so casually and fail to offer a sincere apology.
Your safety — and potentially your life — may be at risk.
