Hotel L’Orologio Venice

"Why book? Very smart, very clubby, and with a stunning Grand Canal frontage, L'Orologio mixes contemporary chic with attention to the needs of travelers with families, all within shouting distance of the Rialto bridge. Set the scene Peering across the Grand Canal towards the glorious Gothic Ca' d'Oro palace, L'Orologio is a sophisticated little bolthole, with contemporary wood-and-leather design and splashes of brilliant color. The backstory The small Italian WTB (WhyTheBest) group has hotels in Venice, Florence, and Rome, all smartly contemporary and most with a clock/watch theme running through the decor. Orologio, meaning pride, nods to the owner's particular passion. The rooms Muscular, modern decor dominates in the 42 rooms and suites of this Grand Canal hotel. The palette (reds, yellows, russets) is autumnal, and offset by black panelling. Bathrooms come with lashings of marble. Canal-facing rooms offer the ultimate treat: the two-level Premium suite provides a bird's eye view of the canal from its living space beneath a pitched roof. Food and drink Breakfast is a good spread that includes organic options and caters to intolerances. Through the day the long, low O Bar—with its massive marble fireplace and canal-facing windows—serves light snacks and meals, which can also be delivered to the fourth-floor roof terrace for a spectacular view over the city. The neighborhood/area Around the Hotel L'Orologio is a furiously busy bit of the San Polo district, with traders pushing their wares to the marvelous central market beneath the Rialto bridge. L'Orologio is just out of the scrum, allowing guests to dip in and out of the melée at will. It could hardly be more central though, and the nearby Rialto Mercato vaporetto stop means it's a short boat hop to just about anywhere. This is prime restaurant and bar territory too: you'll be spoilt for choice. The service Professional, competent, unobtrusive: there's not much personal about this service but you'll want for nothing, and bookings will be arranged competently. For families Special family rooms with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom are a comfortable option. Children under three can stay free with their parents. L'Orologio also has two large self-catering apartments in an adjoining building. Accessibility L'Orologio has several disabled-accessible rooms. Anything left to mention? A range of special offers from L'Orologio includes the Lido Beach Experience, with a private water taxi from the hotel across to the Adriatic-facing Lido, a couple of deckchairs beneath an umbrella in this most classic of seaside resorts and use of a picturesque beach hut to complete the whole Belle-Époque ambience." - Anne Hanley

Where do I begin? My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel L’Orologio Venezia. The interior is gorgeous and well maintained. Our room felt luxurious, with high ceilings and generous spacing that made the stay feel especially comfortable. Breakfast was great too, with a solid spread and lots of choice. One random standout feature (perhaps unexpectedly!) was the shower. It was without question the best shower I have ever used! I’ve seen a few comments about not having canal-facing rooms, but I really wouldn’t worry about this. You can head out to the entrance or ground floor and enjoy the canal view right there. The hotel's location is perfect for getting around Venice and seeing all the main sights. But what really makes this hotel stand out is the staff. Mattia, Giorgio, and Luca (along with the lovely breakfast team and cleaners) were incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming, and they made our stay extra special. I would honestly come back to Venice just to stay at this hotel again. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Me and my friend had an absolutely amazing stay and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The hotel was comfortable, welcoming, and a perfect base for exploring Venice. But what really made the trip special was the staff. I want to specifically recognise Mattia (apologies if I’ve misspelled your name), Luca, and Giorgio. All three were incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely helpful, and they made us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived. Their warmth and attention to detail really stood out and added so much to our stay. Thank you for such a wonderful experience! I would happily stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Venice.

Dear Hotel L'Orologio Team,||This was not my first stay at your wonderful hotel, but it was by far the most meaningful. I had the pleasure of staying with my family, who were visiting from the United States, and our experience was truly unforgettable.||We stayed in one of your beautiful apartments overlooking the Grand Canal for two nights. The breathtaking views, paired with the spacious and comfortable accommodations, made our time together incredibly special.||I would be remiss not to express my sincere gratitude to your always professional and welcoming staff. Your service was, as always, exceptional—attentive, thoughtful, and consistently on point. It’s this level of hospitality that keeps me coming back.||Needless to say, I will continue to highly recommend Hotel L’Orologio to anyone visiting Venice—and yes, I absolutely plan to return many more times!||Thank you again for helping us create such special memories. We had the most amazing stay!

Quirky, dark, modern hotel with generally very friendly, helpful staff. Great location. Buffet breakfast basic. Low quality bread. Dish of completely burnt bacon. Staff delivered jug of milk to table which she spilt but did not return to wipe it up. Cleanliness generally very good. However, on arrival in the room the tea mugs were found to be dirty. Room small but adequate. Fridge was constantly noisy. Bed comfortable. Needed to use hand held shower and had to keep pressing shower button in to stop main rain shower from starting.

From check-in to check-out, the concierge and staff were all very accommodating and friendly. The room was as pictured and we received a complimentary bottle of champagne. The breakfast was delicious and the bar had very tasty drinks. The location was perfect to all the activities we had planned in the city and you could easily walk around and find everything on the map. We will definitely recommend this hotel and very happy with our stay.

Overall a fine hotel. Good location and easy access by water taxi. Lots of American tourists stay here I think this hotel is a favorite of travel agents or package vacation sales (cruise ships, etc.). The rooms are smaller but nice. The elevators are very small. The air conditioning can be weak. Resist the temptation to open the windows because you will be eaten alive by mosquitos. Instead, call the front desk and ask them to lower your room temp. They maintain master control over the room features including air conditioning. The breakfast was nice. The bar and bartenders were awesome. Would book again.

We loved our stay here. Perfect location; close enough to the Realto Bridge but not in the most dense touristy areas. Water access. Breakfast every morning was excellent. The rooms were clean, beds very comfortable. Good showers. Excellent service by everyone we encountered working at the hotel. They also arranged water taxis whenever we needed. Would highly recommend this hotel!

My teenage son and I spent two wonderful nights at this charming hotel in Venice. Our room was large with a gorgeous view of the Grande Canal!|The location was excellent, just a few minutes away from the Rialto Bridge. Our room was larger than we were expecting. The breakfast included many options. The staff were friendly and helpful.
