Hotel L’Orologio Venice

"Why book? Very smart, very clubby, and with a stunning Grand Canal frontage, L'Orologio mixes contemporary chic with attention to the needs of travelers with families, all within shouting distance of the Rialto bridge. Set the scene Peering across the Grand Canal towards the glorious Gothic Ca' d'Oro palace, L'Orologio is a sophisticated little bolthole, with contemporary wood-and-leather design and splashes of brilliant color. The backstory The small Italian WTB (WhyTheBest) group has hotels in Venice, Florence, and Rome, all smartly contemporary and most with a clock/watch theme running through the decor. Orologio, meaning pride, nods to the owner's particular passion. The rooms Muscular, modern decor dominates in the 42 rooms and suites of this Grand Canal hotel. The palette (reds, yellows, russets) is autumnal, and offset by black panelling. Bathrooms come with lashings of marble. Canal-facing rooms offer the ultimate treat: the two-level Premium suite provides a bird's eye view of the canal from its living space beneath a pitched roof. Food and drink Breakfast is a good spread that includes organic options and caters to intolerances. Through the day the long, low O Bar—with its massive marble fireplace and canal-facing windows—serves light snacks and meals, which can also be delivered to the fourth-floor roof terrace for a spectacular view over the city. The neighborhood/area Around the Hotel L'Orologio is a furiously busy bit of the San Polo district, with traders pushing their wares to the marvelous central market beneath the Rialto bridge. L'Orologio is just out of the scrum, allowing guests to dip in and out of the melée at will. It could hardly be more central though, and the nearby Rialto Mercato vaporetto stop means it's a short boat hop to just about anywhere. This is prime restaurant and bar territory too: you'll be spoilt for choice. The service Professional, competent, unobtrusive: there's not much personal about this service but you'll want for nothing, and bookings will be arranged competently. For families Special family rooms with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom are a comfortable option. Children under three can stay free with their parents. L'Orologio also has two large self-catering apartments in an adjoining building. Accessibility L'Orologio has several disabled-accessible rooms. Anything left to mention? A range of special offers from L'Orologio includes the Lido Beach Experience, with a private water taxi from the hotel across to the Adriatic-facing Lido, a couple of deckchairs beneath an umbrella in this most classic of seaside resorts and use of a picturesque beach hut to complete the whole Belle-Époque ambience." - Anne Hanley

Our stay at Hotel L’Orologio Venice was absolutely amazing. From start to finish, the experience exceeded our expectations. The staff was phenomenal — welcoming, attentive, and genuinely helpful. The airport pick-up and drop-off service was first class and made arrival and departure seamless. We also loved the breakfast at the hotel — fresh, delicious, and a great way to start the day. The location is perfect: just a short walk to all the major attractions, yet tucked away enough to avoid the heavy crowds. We felt like we were in the heart of Venice without being overwhelmed by tourists. Can’t say enough good things about our time here — would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend to anyone visiting Venice!

We were a family of 4 adults so opted for the annex which was a separate building but right next door to the main hotel. We knew that there were several flights of stairs to our 2 bedroom apartment but the view of the Grand Canal was worth it. There was a bellman who carried our luggage to our apartment. |We contacted the hotel prior to ask about transportation to the hotel. We opted for the 15 minute minivan drive with a 5 minute water taxi. We needed to pay the minivan driver cash which we were told ahead of time. It was expensive but after a long international flight, it was well worth it.|Our apartment consisted of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large living room facing the canal, kitchen complete with a full size refrigerator, dishwasher and island. |Housekeeping changed our bedding each day and did an overall wonderful job. |The complimentary breakfast was fantastic with hot and cold choices. The waitstaff was very attentive and specially made our coffee choices.|The reception staff was top notch as well and very helpful. They arranged for a water taxi to take us to the train station when we left.|The hotel was very close to fantastic restaurants and shopping. The watch themed hotel was also a highlight.|Definitely a 5 rating in all areas. Thank you for a memorable trip!

The room & hotel were spectacular. The view of the grand canal was absolutely beautiful. One of the highlights was David at the bar. He was such a fun person to come back to at the end of our days for a nightcap. He knew each of the 6 of us by name and what our drinks were after the first night. And each night was a show watching him craft our drinks with such love for his job. He was definitely a highlight!

Our tour company booked us into this hotel and from the pictures and quite a few of the reviews I had great expectations. But when we disembarked from the water taxi and entered into the lobby we were underwhelmed. Once we got to our room we were disappointed as to how tiny and dark it was, with a window, yes, but one that looked directly at the brick wall of the building next door. The layout made it very difficult to manoeuvre around the bed. We returned to the lobby and asked if there was a possibility for a different room, possibly one with a canal view, even if we had to pay a bit more. They advised us that no canal view rooms were available but that they could give us a room with a better layout. So we took it, but it was only marginally better. The same brick wall to look at out the window. The same size and darkness, which became even more of a problem when it got dark out and we only had the insufficient room lighting to find things in our suitcases. The air conditioning in the room did not seem to work either, and no matter what adjustment we made, it remained hot and stuffy. |The pro about this hotel is its location, a relatively short walk to St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. The breakfast was decent, but nothing to get excited about. Hot breakfast items did not seem to get replenished quickly as they ran out. |My recommendation would be to specify a canal view should you be booking here. We really felt like this hotel's dark black and red decor was depressing and did not provide the magical feeling of being in Venice that we had hoped to experience.

We had a nice stay with family. Hotel is nicely located on the Grand Canal and is convenient to all the major areas of interest while also being a bit away from the crowds. Nearby Mercato Realto is lively with open markets during the day but quiet and relaxing as the sun fades.||Apperitivo at the tables in front of the hotel along the canal is lovely.||Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and well cared for.

This is a very nice hotel right on the Grand Canal. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Morning breakfast was very good. They have a nice area to sit in the afternoon and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the water. Highly recommend if you are searching for a hotel in Venice.

The hotel is right on the grand canal so the water taxi is able to pull right up which is a huge plus. The room was updated but a bit small( although not for European standards). Everything was within walking distance of all sights and restaurants and stores. All in all it was pleasant stay

Cannot rate this idyllic place highly enough.. for food, comfort, cleanliness & helpful staff. On arrival we were greeted warmly and nothing g was too much trouble. I recommend the cocktail bar for perfect drinks served in style. The hotel is perfectly situated to visit all the must sees of Venice. We would love to return! Thank you
