We checked out yesterday after a wonderful week's stay here. Paula and Megan are such fantastic hosts, catering to my dietary requirements at breakfast and even giving lots of advice on local eateries etc. They made our stay fantastic for our wedding anniversary, we didn't want to leave. The breakfast is plentiful, with lots of home made, delicious items made available. The hotel is very rustic, in a good way, with a traditional vibe. Rooms have everything you need for a relaxing stay, lovely balcony, strong shower, comfortable beds and a fan. The hotel is built in the area's traditional Pueblos Blancos style, so still cool in warm weather. Our room was cleaned daily, beds made and towels and bedding changed regularly. A laundry service was even provided which we appreciated. And Paula is happy to give you plates and cutlery to make your own lunch. We were lucky enough to have the hotel to ourselves for the first part of the holiday, so relaxing. The town is lovely, there is a Coviran in town to get water, beer, basic snacks and a bigger Carrefour in Cádiar, a 10 minute drive away. There is a local bar in Bérchules that does lovely tapa and food, and another in Alcutar, the next village only a 5 minute walk away. Don't forget to feed the poor cats in the villages! The hotel is in the perfect location to access the Alpujarras and Sierra Nevada region, and a lovely drive to Granada, the Tabernas desert and Almeria. A must see is spending time in Puerto de la Ragua, lots of amazing hikes and beautiful wild horses. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel, and will be back next year! Thank you.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in early April as an overnight stop on a hiking trip through the Alpujarras. A quiet location with comfortable rooms and easy access to pubs, cafes and the local supermarket. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both of which were outstanding. Paola the owner was friendly and helpful providing local knowledge of the village and its surrounds.

Great stop along the GR7!!! Excellent communication beforehand. Helped us figure out where to stop for a snack on our way into town. Also we arranged for dinner, breakfast and packed lunches because we (a group of 6 of us) were hiking the GR7 and it was all handmade and SO delicious. BEST packed lunches of our entire trip!! Usually we could only get bocadillos for lunch but at Hotel Los Bercheles, they made us a great lunch that kept us going for our whole walk! (Cucumbers, hard boiled eggs, etc!) We all said we would love to go back and stay longer!

We had a lovely evening at the hotel with hosts Paula and Megan. Rustic with country charm and fabulous views in a quiet location but easily accessible. We had a home cooked 3 course dinner and our vegetarian / vegan diners were well catered for . Highly recommended

Ownership has changed - now run by a mother and daughter team from the NL since December 2023. Both charming (if direct, as the Dutch typically are), great if you speak English as easy to communicate. Rooms basic but beds (all twin) super comfy and you get a bath - great after a 6 hour hike! What is outstanding is the food - all homemade, even the bread. Megan is a great cook - so expect fabulous soups and European (not Spanish) food. Emphasis on vegetarian cooking, but not exclusively. Breakfasts fabulous. Cannot comment on the ambiance as we were the only guests, think a lot of their trade is through guided walking holiday companies like Headwater and Exodus. The village is small, so no local eateries within walking distance, local supermarket very small but we did manage to pick up fresh bread for our walk. Not a tourist village unlike Bubion or Capileira. All the walks in their book were written by the previous owners so a few years old.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in the middle of March while travelling around the South of Spain. The views are stunning, food is amazing (actually the best I had in Spain) and the owners Megan and Paula are charming. I didn’t hesitate to prolong my stay here for few more nights. Highly recommend staying here if you are somewhere around in the region!

Arrived after a long days mountain biking to this superb welcoming Hotel. Sat out watching the sun go down drinking a well deserved beer. Rooms were pretty spacious with small balconies at front. Very comfortably furnished and dark and quiet at night, so an excellent nights sleep. Very friendly staff who spoke good English, as opposed to my poor Spanish ! Had a good wholesome 3 course dinner and equally good breakfast. Great location for mountain activities and super views.
