I had an amazing stay at Luna Llena and would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect, less than 5 min walk to town and the beach. I stayed in one of the shared bunk rooms, and everything was super clean and secure (the bunks come with lockers and I found that to be super convenient), and I slept well. The whole place is set in a beautiful/stylish atmosphere with gorgeous views overlooking the ocean. The staff was very friendly, and my friends and I enjoyed making use of the community kitchen to cook breakfast in the mornings (bonus that the staff puts out complimentary coffee each morning - so nice!) The best part was that from my bunk I could hear the ocean as I fell asleep each night, and in the mornings I could look out the window and see the sun rise over the Gulf of Nicoya. Best $15/night ever spent. If you're considering Luna Llena for a stay in Montezuma, just do it!

This was at a great location and the staff was friendly. The rooms started cool,at night which was awesome. However there were simple things that could be way better. My husband and I stayed 4 nights and cooked our own meals; I don't think the kitchen towels were replaced once. There were no washcloths to clean with so it was often dirty when we started and the towels were gross. Same in the bathroom... Our mattress was very poky as well. There were springs poking up in places making a comfortable spot hard to find. Overall it was a nice stay though.

Great spot for the money. Nice common areas, cheap rooms, great views. You'll see wild monkeys! My girlfriend saw a wild sloth. The cheaper rooms are slightly more private than a dorm in a hostel, but not much. Kind of like a commune or summer camp vibe. The private cabins with bathrooms are way nicer and more private. Definitely worth the $30 extra. Even still, is only a step above camping, so expect it to be hot. Also the walk into town is easy, beach is a little further than we thought. Road is loud af, but best jungle / beach mix we found in Montezuma. Free waterfall hike in walking distance, close to restaurants and bars, nicest people in the world working there. Made a reservation request via email, but didn't provide cc number, because that's risky. Milly responded and assured me there would be room and they accommodated us perfectly.

Buildings are very cool, and the garden one in a kind. Dorm room says for 4 people but there were 2 bunk beds and a single one, so for 5, little individual small lockers. Not shared bathroom in the dorm. Kitchen is very well provided (plats, bowls, forks, knives, cups, citrus peeler, etc.), but only 4 fire of 8 available complicated the smooth feeling on cooking time. One hot shower and 3 cold ones. Decoration is marvelous, facilities just correct

Common area is beautiful, as well as a hostel setup. One of the ladies working at the reception is also very kind and client oriented. Anyhow, we had a room with the sea view and apart from the waves that you can hear, which is beautiful, the noise from the street is unbearable. Also, the shower was not working well. From all accomodations we had in Costa Rica, this one was the most challenging with the insects. In the toilet, there was a nest of flying ants, coming with the rain. I just think it was fare to mention this to the one who cares about the noise and insects. I assume that sharing rooms and toilets might not have these issues.

I stayed at Luna Llena for 10 days while in Montezuma. It's a beautiful setting with comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. The beach/town centre is less than five minutes walk and from the common area kitchen (also some of the higher rooms) you can see the ocean. Watching monkeys daily with the occasional iguana just for variety was a highlight of the stay.

Wonderful place. Clean, relaxed and well organized. Surrounded by jungle, with friendly monkeys visiting often, beautiful view on the ocean, two minutes walk to the beach, very cute rooms and common areas, well equipped kitchen. We enjoined it a lot.

I was very disappointed with my stay at Luna Llena. There wasn't any soap or shampoo in the bathroom, when I asked for some it took almost an hour to get it delivered and they sent an industrial sized shampoo and soap bottle (so trashy). The pillows were horrible and made from cheap foam. The bed was very hard. To top it off the AC wasn't working well and it was hot all night. Not to mention the light outside the window that was keeping me awake all night. Very unpleasant experience, I would have rather stayed at a hostel.
