Madera Hollywood

"How did it strike you on arrival?A technicolor mural depicting Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn makes it impossible to walk by this hotel without looking twice. Inside, the bold design—black-and-white patterned floors, curvaceous furniture—pays homage to film's golden age. Once you've been escorted up from the mini waiting area downstairs, you can enjoy a welcome drink at check-in in the Hollywood Lounge on the third floor. Nice. What’s the crowd like? The Madera's loud, funky aesthetic attracts younger travelers, design enthusiasts and film buffs. The 38 suites—two of which have been designed after a specific Hollywood star—might also appeal to mega fans of Marilyn Monroe or Charlie Chaplin. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.We booked the entry-level Deluxe suite and immediately fell in love with the glamorous décor and bright pops of yellow. Spacious at more than 580 square feet, our suite overlooked the busy streets of SoHo and PMQ (a heritage complex turned indie shopping hub). It was equipped with all you might need: an LED TV, a high-tech control panel to adjust the lighting and temperature, complimentary minibar, a Nespresso machine, small kitchenette, and a dining table. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The cheerful bedroom decor stars a pretty velvet headboard and pops of color in the form of throw pillows. The queen-size Simmons mattress is dressed in soft linens and a down duvet. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? The walls and shelves of each room are covered with fascinating memorabilia—old photos, pop art and portraits as well as travel- and film-inspired books. Consider it visual inspiration to set your mind to holiday mode. We were also pleasantly surprised to find an oven and a washer/dryer in our room, which would be excellent for long-stays. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The winsome blue-and-white bathroom features a rain shower, small vanity area with makeup mirror, and white marble floors. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is free and each room includes a Handy smartphone. These phones work on the local network at no cost to you, and can make phone calls to seven countries worldwide. Room service: Worth it?Madera Hollywood doesn’t provide room service, but you can find some all-day snacks and refreshments at the Hollywood Lounge. Fortunately, you’re in the heart of SoHo, so there’s no shortage of restaurants and bars within a few minutes’ walk. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.If you’re celebrating a special occasion, upgrade to the Monroe Suite—the hotel's pink-hued tribute to the star. The 700-square-foot apartment-style suite holds Monroe memorabilia, retro decor, and fresh flowers in every corner. The hotel doesn’t have a spa or a pool, though you will find a 24-hour gym that’s kitted out with Technogym equipment and various cardio machines. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? The location on Hollywood Road could not be better for fashion and food obsessives. You’ll walk out into the middle of Hong Kong’s most happening district, brimming with art galleries, tiny boutiques, restaurants, markets, and bars. Bottom line: worth it, and why?A boutique hotel with bold design, Madera Hollywood provides film-star vibes in a convenient SoHo location."

Fantastic experience here! Staff was very friendly, helpful, and spoke English (very helpful haha). The location was great too. Plenty to do within walking distance and close to the mtr station as well. The room was clean and inviting. I cannot say enough good things about this spot. A special thanks to Selina, Pana, and Jojo for exceptional service!

Loved the spacious rooms and convenient location. So rare to find rooms you can spread out in HK. The staff; Selina, Pana, Jojo and Arthur are all great. We had to come back to the hotel with our bags after realising left luggage was full at the Airport Express MTR and they graciously took them back and kept them until 10pm! Much appreciated. Looking forward to our next visit.

The room was so spacious and had absolutely everything we needed! The hotel entrance was secured by key card access only, which made us feel very safe. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the room was spotless. The location is amazing, literally right in the center of everything! 🌆10/10! This is now our favorite hotel in Hong Kong! ❤️

This is, hands down, my favourite hotel in HK. The location is unbeatable. When I mean unbeatable, I don't mean you're walking 400m nearby. I mean you're walking 50-100m. You're right in the thick of it. I hesitate to give it a good review because I don't want the prices to go up. I stayed here for over a month. The staff were good. Bringing food to your door. Whatsapp communication. Gym was simple with everything you'd need.Peel street in 10m away. The rooms feel like an Airbnb, the lighting is good.My only gripe is the electronic curtains / sheers are a bit finicky. They can be hard to work. And whilst the lighting is good, it's not easily adjustable if you like to play around with a specific setting. All in all, close to perfect.

It was a comfortable stay. The twin suite was lovely. Very nice bathroom, living room with comfy sofa, kitchen with instant hot water dispenser etc. Everything you'd need in a flat. Location was perfect, right at the heart of Central. Highly recommend.

I and my friend had an amazing stay at Madera. We were especially impressed with Selina at the reception, who helped us with so many things. She was not only an excellent communicator but also guided us through the HK SIM card issues we had as visitors. Thank you Madera, I hope to stay with you again in the future!

Yelp
I am not going to kid. I was a little concerned. You know #tripadvisor has a lot of idiots doing reviews that have no reason too other than to complain. I booked my room @maderahollywood and was skeptical of all the great reviews. First it is easy if you are semi in shape. Even if it is raining 90% of the walk is on skyways. It is walk with light one suitcase. If you have a big one then forget it. When you first come into the lobby I was wondering um what is this? But the service was great so I let it go. I mean it is small, not even a lobby. But once checked in I was shown a side entrance and then it felt like a boutique hotel awesome is all I can say. And you are in the middle of everything. Will be coming back here. #hongkong #seoulotravels #boutiquehotel #hotels #screwairbnb #china #vacation #centralhongkong #maderahollywoodhotel #yelpelote #yelphongkong #yelp #googleplaces

Yelp
This hotel was was right in prime location so I thought I'd give it a go- I found the check in a little weird, you entered this one little room with a desk and a few couches to get your room keys, which gave you access to the door next door which let you up to the guest rooms. Lucky enough I was upgraded to a suite since it was my first time staying in the hotel. The room had a spacious living area with brightly colored furniture and artwork coving the walls. There was a long, skinny kitchen with a complementary minibar consisting of a few snacks and drinks (I never use hotel kitchens because I tend to eat out, so I always find it random when there is a kitchen available). The bedroom was pretty basic but good size, and same with the bathroom. Upon first glance it was a really nice room, but once I got settled in I noticed a ton of stains on the carpet, ottoman, and it made me hesitant to lounge on the couches. So in the end I used the bed to sleep, and the living room as a place to store my luggage, and spent little time inside the hotel. FYI the hotel does not have a restaurant, so that means no room service available, but your surrounded by restaurants in the area.
