Hotel Madrisa Lodge

Madrisa Lodge is a modern alpine-style lodge designed for active travelers, families, and nature lovers who want to be right at the gateway to the mountains. Beautiful place, kind and quick service with good food, the rooms were very clean with good beds, there were lots of delicious breakfast options and very good food for dinner.

Our family of 5 stayed here twice already. One winter we decided to spontaneously spend New Year’s Eve so we could hit the slopes early on Jan 1. The place has the usual high cleanliness standard for Switzerland and is definitely „no frills“ but all essentials are there and the best is the walking access to the Madrisa Ski area! If you don’t like driving or taking a bus in the morning this is great. Madrisa is the smaller more family oriented side of Klosters Davos and our kids love it. Coming back from skiing having a drink in town, going for a few groceries in Coop, feeling like the scene from the famous Aaron Slims photo that was taken there in the 60s.

The hotel is situated in a good location, every way you can reach a hiking trail through nature and mountains. There is a train station right next to the hotel. The hotel is very cozy. Parking is possible next to the hotel. The staff is friendly and willing to help and advise. Breakfast is a buffet and dinner has a three-course menu. All excellent and tasty. I definitely recommend.

Excellent service and very good location-bus and train station in front of the hotel. The room, although spacious and clean needs some renovation. Pleasant surprise and adding value to the overall experience were the two complimentary train/bus tickets to explore the nearby area.

Family friendly? Warm welcome? Definitely not. Arriving at Madrisa Lodge with seven friends and a small child was definitely the worst experience I have ever made for checking in. The receptionist was terribly unfriendly and aggressive in her tone. The pre-booked and just a day before arrival confirmed baby bed, wasn’t available. Instead of being constructive, the receptionist was telling me that I should find another hotel and cancel my booking. Annoying argumentation followed. She was unfriendly during our whole stay. That really makes you wonder why this person works in the service industry. Due to the noise caused by the train to our left side of our balcony and the main road to our right side, it was heavily noisy and not nice to sit outside. Water did not drain properly in the sink. Breakfast was average. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

The room is clean, the location is convenient (walking distance to the Madrisabahn) and the breakfast is decent. Frankly, the reason I booked this place was we could just walk to the gondola. Note hotel parking is not free. Overall, I recommend only for a short stay because the village itself is a bit shabby.

We stayed here for 4 nights over New Year. Booked this hotel as very few hotels offer anything less than a full week. It’s only a three star hotel with no frllls but this makes it comparatively good value for Switzerland. We had two interconnecting rooms for the 4 of us which worked really well. Rooms were spacious with balconies and decent storage space. Bathrooms quite small but showers incredibly powerful (and hot). Bar is self service but selection is fine and lounge area is comfortable. Very good breakfast choice. Staff all very helpful and friendly. very good location - 2 minutes walk to either train or bus station which makes it easy to get to Klosters Platz or Davos. 5 minute walk to the Madrisa lift. I would stay here again
