Hotel Mahayana

Very quiet gated small rooms with bath. Very close to all amenities and what the small beach town has to offer. We recommend you stay there if all you care for is outside activity and a cozy place to rest your head at night. We killed 3 deadly black spiders, the small fridge was a bit weak but for what you're paying per night you can't beat this location and the basic amenities offered. We would highly recommend you stay here if you're looking at hostels or similar.

This was an amazing stay. It has smaller rooms and a shared kitchen in the courtyard. Up to 5 minute walk to the restaurants and the beach. It's not swanky and literally off the beaten path, but we weren't looking for fancy. Great wifi, friendly staff. We will be back.

Great spot in a great location. Cute little rooms with all you could need. Really communal and made some new friends. Short walk to bars, stores, beach, food, etc. Only improvement needed is a regular cleaning/changing of the filters in the A/C. I have allergies which aren't usually ever that bad, but had a really rough couple of days because of the dust. Aside from a quick filter change, this place is golden! The owner is Also super nice. Bonus - check out the burger place at the corner. Amazing cuba libres and 2 for 1 drinks across the street!

Cecile is amazing!!! The property is phenomenal and the is my second home, home away from home. The guest, service, and everything about this hotel is magical!!! You will be happy to have picked this property. I’ve stayed at numerous hotels throughout Tamarindo and this is by far my favorite!!!

Hotel Mahayana is a gem! We stayed for over a month in the apartment and it is extremely comfortable and convenient. There's a fully equipped kitchen (it really has everything), its really central yet quiet, there's a little private garden with couches and sunchairs and the internet is reliable and high-speed. But the best part? The bed. I think these beds were made in heaven because I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. The owner, Cecile, is awesome and helpful with everything we needed. I recommend this place to everyone!

Very friendly owner(?). We had a problem with a smell in our room, she was very apologetic about it and we got to change room. The room was very clean so the smell was probably because of rain or the AC or something. The place it self is very cozy, and relaxed. Some reviews complains about small rooms. They are, but it's fine for me. Maybe if you hang out alot in your room it's not for you. But they had hammock's and seats outside of the room where we preferred to be when back at the hotel. They got a communal kitchen which we used for breakfast. And it was ok.

Super friendly and helpful service! Our room had a good amt of space, a closet to put stuff in, a hammock, and an outdoor kitchen. Wifi speeds were great in our room, about 50mbps and it never dropped service (I posted a speedtest.net pic, check the photos section).

Great hotel in Tamarindo! Small property (only 6 rooms) which creates a very homey atmosphere. Rooms are clean, come with air conditioning and hot water. Communal outdoor kitchen to use as well. Extremely friendly owner who's always happy to help!
