Hotel Mai Amsterdam

Lovely little hotel. Room was excellent loft style space with canal view. Honesty bar is a great idea and nice to sit in the lounge or take back to room. Staff were lovely and breakfast buffet was handy before a long day walking along the canals. Location is brilliant, we travelled by train and is only 5 min walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station. It’s a quiet street but directly parallel to the red light district - so handy for all the sights! Really recommend if you’re staying in Amsterdam

Great location and only a few minutes walk from central station. A short walk from other main attractions.||||I do think the hotel was expensive for our trip, given that we didn’t have breakfast included. It would benefit from having a fridge in the room, bottles of water, additional blankets/pillows, somewhere to put your suitcase and more storage for unpacking your clothes for the price that you pay, but overall we really enjoyed our trip. The staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. We also had fresh towels/beds made daily.

I stayed at this hotel for a night in September of 2025 after I had a miserable couple nights' sleep at an AirBNB style 'hotel' about 15 minutes away. Considering the price and the extremely central location, I really enjoyed my brief stay. The room I was in was on the top floor and had a really cool (albeit dirty) view outside - see the photo for my view. The room and bathroom were also massive and the lighting was definitely a vibe. Overall, no real complaints, I'd definitely stay here again.

Two night stay in a suite. Room was large with high ceilings and large windows, but somehow omits storage other than a handful of hangers and a shelf under the sink. The large couch was comfortable but had numerous stains on it. The room cleanliness was otherwise good. The super king bed offered a good night sleep. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The location is convenient for Central Station and the Red Light district, but many of the other attractions are at least a 20 minute walk.

Our stay was overall good. The staff were absolutely wonderful, friendly, kind, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. We had called ahead to confirm which rooms had a balcony and, based on the advice we received, booked the recommended room. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told this information had been incorrect, which was quite disappointing. That said, the hotel’s beautiful aesthetic helped make up for it. The room was smaller than expected but comfortable. Lighting was not ideal for us, even with the lined room lights at their brightest, it still felt dim (though this may be a personal preference). Most amenities are available upon request, which can be a little inconvenient. It doesn’t feel four star. What truly makes this hotel special is the location, central but peaceful, close to the metro, walking distance to many attractions, and right on the canal. It’s a beautiful spot for exploring the city.

A really lovely hotel in a prime location - close to the station, the red light district, centre etc. Lots of bars close by along with good restaurants and cafes. The hotel is spotless, as well as the rooms - all extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast is €20 per person, slightly limited but worth having if you want to fill yourself up - you get to choose one hot/cooked option from the limited menu, plus access to the buffet with coffee, tea, juice, other food options. We had a complimentary drink voucher when checking in. We could choose any option from the little bar (excluding cocktails & cava). The staff are lovely and the housekeepers do a great job. The only things I can personally fault are the pillows (I'm awkward and need really flat pillows. They're super chunky and firm, not soft, but I'm sure they'll be grand for most). Also the vibe is cosy, so the rooms are quite dark even with all of the lights on - just makes it slightly difficult when getting ready/packing etc. The bar is self service, which is great for cans/bottles, but if you want a cocktail or a coffee, it's slightly more difficult. Overall though a lovely, comfortable stay and a great hotel!

Very disappointing experience. Due to an extraordinary weather situation with heavy snowfall in Amsterdam, all flights were cancelled, making it impossible to travel. Unfortunately, the hotel showed no goodwill at all and was not willing to reschedule the stay or offer any kind of fair solution. Instead, it seemed they were only interested in keeping the money without providing any service. In such exceptional circumstances, I would have expected more understanding and customer-oriented behavior. Very disappointing and, sadly, not recommended.

Rooms are good but beds were very thin matress toppers on what appeared to be poor matresses so they kept slipping off. Also no wardrobe only coat hooks which is ok for a few days but if you were staying longer might be annoying. Air con good and shower/bathroom really nice. Breakfast was very good for the price and staff were lovely. Really pleased they were able to provide my hubby with gluten free bread rolls each morning which he said was some of the nicest GF bread he'ed had. Honesty bar is a great idea to and nice for a quiet drink. Be aware if you have children this hotel is in RLD.
