The hotel and the wellness area are nothing special. In fact, from the photos on the booking the expectation was that the room was in the modern part of the hotel, but unfortunately this was not the case. The staff wasn’t overly friendly and helpful either. The room had several damages but was quiet which was appreciated. There is an outside bike stand with metal hooks for locking.

This was my third or fourth stay at Hotel Maier but my first since the new extension was built. I had a room in the extension which was, obviously, modern and very clean. It had everything you could realistically hope for and was very quiet. The extension has also created an underground car park where I was able to securely park my motorcycle for the night. ||The staff were all very helpful and spoke good English which meant I wasn’t embarrassed by my schoolboy German. The food in the restaurant was excellent and an extensive breakfast was also provided.||I’m sure if I need to stay in Friedrichshafen it will be at Hotel Maier.

Room was extremely dated. Glad there was air conditioning. Walls were very thin, could hear the TV from another room at 5am. You had to book the steam room in advance. This wasn't conveyed to us so when my partner went to the steam room, it was off. Mr. Leobilla who was our waiter was great. The female waitress was good too. Receptionists were friendly as well.

This is a hotel which clearly holds itself to a very high standard, but which fell flat is some basic ways. The booking covered multiple rooms in the Hofhaus and Stammhaus, so we saw more of the hotel than most. Hotel Maier was fit for a one-night stopover. The place looks great; the team is wonderfully personable and proactive. Then you reach the rooms. The curtains were too small for the window (bright all night); the shower goes cold if a neighboring room showers; the TV wasn't connected to any channels. Most problematic: there was no food available for the gluten intolerance reported during the pre-checkin questionaire. It's no good if this info reaches the reception but not the restaurant. For those without intolerances, dinner was a highlight. The menu is an inventive showcase of regional ingredients (local watermelon!!), served with flair in an atmospheric dining room by a skilled team and accompanied by a drinks menu for every mood. Breakfast was frustrating despite the excellent quality. Everything is served to order, but slowly. It took half an hour for the coffee to arrive. There is so much food waste because the portions are conceived as platters. The wellness area was another highlight - airy, bright and well maintained. The sauna and steam room offer space for 2-3 people before feeling crowded. The bike parking area is also well designed: passive supervision, weather protection and maintenance tools are all thought through.

The rooms are nice and spacious. My only complain is that breakfast is mediocre at best, but not bad by any means.

Very noisy, you can hear noise from corridor. The bathroom is extremely small.|The reception was unfriendly. The room was very dusty. Not enough parking lot for cars. The pictures they showed seems nice but do not represent the actual room.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Maier for four nights and had a very comfortable stay. ||The hotel is nicely located close to the lake, and within a short walk to the outdoor swimming pool complex over the road, a short walk to the lakeside bar ( Gartenwirthscraft zum Schorsch) which has great views and beer, and the nearby Clubhaus restaurant. ||You also have the restaurant at the Hotel Traube as an option and indeed the restaurant at the Maier itself. We ate here on one evening and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. For two courses, a nice bottle of riesling and a few other drinks the bill came to about 150 euros. That is consistent with the UK London area prices and the food was really good which we thought was better value/ quality. The service was also very good. ||Room: The room was an upgrade on the basic option and was very comfortable and certainly spacious enough for us. It looked onto the inner courtyard where the outside seating area was located. We preferred this to perhaps an outside room that looked onto the adjacent road. It had a nice walk in shower and was very tidy and clean, with little sign of wear and tear. The air conditioning worked well. ||We don’t watch much TV when we are away but one improvement could be on the room TV which I could not stream from my iPad to watch any content. It seemed like the TV was not a smart model or was just not very intuitive. ||Transport to local areas: Just across the road outside the hotel are bus stops and rather than drive, we took the bus into Freidrichstafen. They run about every 15 minutes and was low cost at less then 3 euros each way. It is about a 15 minute drive away. The usual google maps was really good, providing a choice of bus numbers and times. Friedrichstafen provides good access to the various ferry boat options across the lake. I would recommend the catamaran boat to Konstanz, locely place to visit. The boat runs on the hour every hour and costs about 25 euro return per person. ||I would definitely stay at the Maier if I need to return to the area again. ||P.s. The only change I would like to see is that the room rate covers two persons, and not a supplement for a second person. The cost to clean the room is negligible so why not charge just for breakfast for a second guest. A lot of modern hotels operate this way.

Yelp
It is the first time for me and my wife we visit Germany. First the city and Fishbach has very beautiful nature, hotel Maier was really fantastic. hotel itself is clean, nice looking, room is large and spaceous. location is in a very good area and is famous, opposite to bus station. The staff are lovely, cooperative and helpful. The breakfast was good, also wifi service. We recommend this hotel for tourists visiting Constance Lake.

Yelp
Americans abroad traveling in Germany on this date. The hotel is not really catering to foreign tourists and I think we are a novelty with our English amongst the German guests. Diane at the desk gave us directions and put up with my questions on the area, she was very helpful and friendly. We are a party of 8 and have four rooms for two nights. The hotel gave us most of the top floor and we are very happy. Clean, large rooms with the gables looking outside, our room can just see the Lake out the window. Some have large tubs of porcelain, some are just showers. The Promenade parks are close, not sure of local tourist sights but we are not here for that portion for these two days. Many green novelty features that the family is discovering, motion sensor hall light, power cards for electricity etc. Beds are comfortable with the just comforter covers, sheets are not a given in Europe. AC is central and is very efficient, colder in the room than outside. Hotel has an elevator and on site restaurant and they stayed open for my wife and son last night. They take reservations and the dining hall was booked so it must be a local favorite. We would stay here again and are now on the way down to sample the breakfast which is part of the price.
