Hôtel Maison du Fort

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. What a wonderful experience. You cannot beat the location. easy walking distance to all of Old Quebec. I enjoyed being able to take evening strolls along the Dufferin Terrace and watching the sunset from the Citadel. All within a couple of minutes from the room. Speaking of the room. Charming, clean, romantic and comfortable. We had the Deluxe Queen #10 on the third floor. We also enjoyed the morning pastries along with coffee and juice. Just enough to fuel us for our daily adventures into the cafes. Marielle is a fabulous host. I felt like I was staying with family. This is as good as it gets.

We stayed recently at this hotel for a vacation in Quebec City for 5 days, our first visit. We could not have found a better place to stay. The location was perfect, Adjacent to the Citadel on a quiet street but walking distance to public parking, restaurants and everywhere in the Old city. The owner was helpful, warm and friendly, provided pastries and coffee in the morning. The hotel cat Oscar also very friendly and paid us a visit for petting in the afternoon. The housekeeping was good, the room had a lot of character and was spacious. A great value and I have no negative things to stay. Would highly recommend and would stay there again if we visit.

The owner is very nice, very accommodating. She gave us some very good pointers on the cooler parts of Old Quebec (not that many parts aren't great). The breakfast spread is small, but nice looking and great tasting. Very cat-themed decor. Like, nothing isn't cat related. The best part of the whole place, though, is the cat. Oscar is amazing. He will meow at you until you pet him. Give him but scratches and he will love you.

This rating reflects the comfortable and pleasant stay we had here in the midst of historic Quebec City. Our hostess was very kind and caring of her guests. She was knowledgeable about the attractions in the area and was keenly interested in ensuring we enjoyed our time here. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee fresh and good. Our room was cute and comfortable. The location is perfect. We were able to walk to every attraction yet it was just a little off the path so it was quiet and quaint. We felt like we were a part of the old city.

This is my first hotel stay in Quebec City and if they are all of the caliber of this establishment. I'll leave it at that. Free breakfast is fresh baked goods, fresh juice and really good coffee. Look out for Oscar the six toed cat. I think he may be related to the Hemingway cats of Florida, lol. I had a great stay. This place is quiet and peaceful, even though located within convenient walking distance to all areas of Old Quebec. I had a great night sleep on a really comfortable bed with a good view of the front Street from room 6.

Newly renovated but with old world charm. The renovations are really well done. Real quiet in the hotel. 5 minute walk from shops and restaurants. Great prices. If you stay in old Quebec ...this is the place to stay. I've been at a half dozen places in old Quebec and when i return.. yhis is the place. Homemade muffins n banana bread in the am, great coffee.. need i say more??

What a delightful, charming place to stay! We stayed at the Maison du Fort the last week of May and were delighted with the hotel, the location and Marielle. Marielle (and her cat) have created a cozy house/hotel which was a great launching pad to seeing Quebec City. The room was very comfortable, the location (near the Parc du bastion de-la-raine) was perfect, the muffins and other baked items for breakfast were delicious, and Marielle was very helpful telling us what to see and where to go. You won’t get the features of a three-star or four-star hotel, but it really didn’t matter. We weren’t there to sit in our room. The cat is very friendly too. A Canadian friend had told me Quebec City was the prettiest city in Canada and I agree. This little hotel was a great place to stay and added greatly to the charm of the city and enjoyment of our trip.

Hotel Maison du Fort is the perfect place! We wanted someplace relaxing and cozy in which we could feel pampered, and we found it here. Proprietor/hotelierre Marielle is delightful and helpful. Good location near Chateau Frontenac. Go for a Superior or Deluxe room if you can. The Standard rooms are very small. But, as with the others, they are beautifully appointed, and if they are all your budget can allow, I would still highly recommend staying here.
