Charming hotel in a perfect location! This hotel is absolutely adorable, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier — they made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The highlight for me was definitely the location! It’s just steps away from a stunning river view and all the historic landmarks in Old Quebec. Most major sights are within easy walking distance, which made exploring the city a breeze. Our room (Room #2) was cozy, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. I loved the modern renovation — it felt fresh, elevated, and very inviting. The bathroom was a standout, featuring a huge double shower that felt like a luxury spa. I also really appreciated the snack drawer stocked with delicious treats, and the provided toiletries smelled incredible! Each morning, I looked forward to the fresh croissants available — such a lovely touch that made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and honestly have no complaints. I’d absolutely recommend staying here and would return in a heartbeat. 🩷

The location of this hotel is perfect, it’s out of the city center and has parking. The room was well designed combining the bones of a very old building with modern decor. The front desk staff were really helpful, welcoming and friendly. The only suggestions I would make would be to clean the couch in the room, it seemed a bit dirty and to replace the milk in the mini fridge daily. We really were very happy with our stay!

We stayed for one night over the weekend, along with another couple, in rooms 2 and 3. We had booked both rooms for around $400 each. The hotel is very well located, within walking distance of all the main attractions. Note that parking costs an additional $30 and is about a five-minute walk from the hotel. The building itself is beautiful, with a nice mix of ancestral charm and modern design. Room 2 felt a bit small — there was no seating area and limited space to hang clothes, aside from a few hooks. We also had a minor issue with the shower drain, though nothing major. Room 3, where our friends stayed, was a bit more spacious, but the air conditioning wasn’t working during their stay, which made the night a little uncomfortable. The staff did provide a fan, which helped somewhat, but no further compensation was offered. Breakfast was served at a different location about three minutes away. It was simple but tasty, with quality ingredients. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The staff was warm and welcoming, and while there are a few things that could be improved — especially given the price point — the charm and location of the hotel still made it a nice experience.

Easily the worst stay I have ever had. Zero service and the fees of full service. This place wants to be 4 star but doesn’t know what that means. Impossible get a hold of, numerous calls, left messages, texts and no reply, unless they want to contact you. (More on this) Air conditioning was broke, for what we found out to be, 2 weeks! They did not tell us, no warning, it was crazy hot and I can add the hours up I slept. And zero compensation or even apology or frankly an acknowledgement. Going back to no communication, they did not respond to the air conditioning situation, ever. Found someone, cause no one is on site, and got a fan that just broke. Breakfast is okay if you like a half cold half hot croissants. From frozen I am guessing. Plus the 100ml of fruit. Room was so so. Water drains so slow you need to leave the shower before it fills, but you still get some time because the water pressure is soo low as it just trickles out. Then the double charged us and we called and talked to someone who would get back ti us, and they never did, as expected at this point. For the price I expect much much better

The rooms, staff, and location at the Hôtel Maison du Fort cannot be beat! Our room was delightfully modern with touches of the old building throughout. The staff stayed late for us to check in because our bus was late, they were happy to help with finding our rental car location and where to park, provided recommendations about what to do around town, and were happy to provide restaurant recommendations. I couldn't believe how close we were to the Chateau Frontenac and all of the charm of Old Quebec. If you can stay here, do so!

We stayed two nights at around $450 per night. We stayed in room three and it was very clean and updated. The bar was a small fridge, not large enough for a takeout box, and a sink. There was a station to fill up water bottles. The Room brand soap and lotions that were provided were high quality. There is not breakfast included which was mentioned on our booking.com site. When I inquired about it, they said they would have to speak to the supervisor and then they were never around to follow up with me. The desk staff is not supervised for very many hours each day. It says that the rooms are air conditioned but the temp never went below 23 Celsius (73 F) so it stayed pretty warm on the hot summer days. The bed was about as hard as I could imagine a bed could be. The water pressure was minimal so taking a shower took a little while extra.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel that's close to everything you want for your visit to Quebec City. It was recently renovated and the attention to detail is evident. The design is modern and welcoming. The service was excellent; the staff is dedicated to making your stay and visit a memorable one.

Yelp
Small boutique hotel near everything Quebec City has to offer. Our room, No. 10 had a comfortable queen bed, a desk and chair and 3 arm chairs to sit and read or watch every in. Plus a private bath with a tub/shower. Host-owner is helpful but not intrusive. Each morning fresh coffee, orange juice and a pastry or bread awaits downstairs, a perfect start to a day. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
This was a really nice place to stay with very friendly owner and cleaning staff. She has done a nice job of making the rooms quaint and functional. Everything is very clean. Breakfast is served down in the main level starting at 8AM. There are plenty of baked goods that she makes herself each morning - small croissants, muffins, etc. The resident cat, Oscar, is a bit of an escape artist and very friendly. He didn't bother us much at all in room 9, which was up several flights of stairs (Marielle said three flights but I think more like four - LOL!). That's really the only drawback is lugging your bags up the stairs as there is no one to help you. I saw several rooms on the first and second floors that you would need if you had issues with steps. The distance to the Old City is not too far and totally walkable. It's located in an area that looks like it's being revitalized with many buildings under construction. It's right next to the Citadelle.

Yelp
We were in Quebec and didn't have a hotel room for the night I looked on Orbitz.com and quickly found this lovely hotel where the woman and owner of the hotel business was so sweet over the phone and so accommodating that we came right over she checked us in right away and the place was absolutely beautiful it's a hotel bed and breakfasts that has 10 rooms and 10 bathrooms The room we had was so lovely and decorated such cheerful colors with beautiful cat pictures on the wall and large windows with shutters all around the room with lots of light and a beautiful bathroom with a large bathtub or you could take hot baths. The best part for us is meeting the main resident of the hotel which is the cat named Oscar who looks like he's has a tuxedo he's black and with a little spot of white under his chest. He was so sweet and friendly and he greeted us in the morning at our door as were going to breakfast downstairs. This hotel is located practically in the heart of old town Quebec or you can go down a couple of streets and catch the hop on hop off bus it's near the beautiful palace castle of the Fairmont hotel and all the shops and restaurants are just within walking distance. There is parking nearby that the hotel can find accommodations for your car if you bring a small car it's better to navigate the narrow streets. I recommend this lovely hotel. It was the highlight of Quebec for us

Yelp
Loved this place! It's a cute boutique hotel smack dab in the middle of Old Quebec. It's close to everything, tastefully decorated, clean, cozy, and a wonderful place to stay. The owner is super friendly and accommodating. She's decorated the whole house cat themed to accentuate her giant, lovable cat Oscar. We stayed in the two bedroom suite, which was located at the top of the hotel. (Note: there are no elevators). The bathroom and rooms were large and technologically modern. This place definitely made our stay in Quebec one to remember.

Yelp
My wife lost her job. I notified the hotels six weeks in advance. I asked for a hardship refund of the deposit and they refused. In the United States they be required to give it if they rented the room. They refused to listen. All they said was we're sorry.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stayed at Maison du Fort last weekend and it was amazing! First off, I don't know how this is only rated as a 2 star property. I usually stay at modern, high rise hotels but this B&B was the perfect change of pace. It is perfectly located within the Old City walls. The rooms were very clean and adorable and we had a private modern bathroom. The room was very quiet and we always got a good night sleep (and I am a light sleeper). Ann (the owner) was cheerful and genuinely nice. It was nice having Oscar the cat walk around the B&B and it was just like being at home. The breakfast in the morning was good and enough to get us on our way. If we return to Quebec we will definitely be staying here again. Great value and worth a visit.

Yelp
It was nice. The woman who runs the place is very gracious and helpful. Our room -- room 6 -- was nice, spacious and clean. They have WiFi, and cable TV. The location is good (not that Quebec City is very big...) I didn't do a lot of checking around to compare prices, but for a hotel in the Old City, it seemed relatively reasonable to me (at least, before Canadian taxes). Parking is NOT included.

Yelp
Stayed for three nights over holiday weekend and can't say enough positive things about this place! Perfect location, we walked to everything! Parked car in a garage down the street for $22 a day (recommended by hotel), and never needed it. Rooms and public areas are nicely furnished and super clean. Our room (#1) was great, double bed, small sitting area, private bath and a/c. There was a little noise from the street, as this room is on the first floor, in the front of the house, but it did not bother us one bit. Great shower head in the bathroom! If you are staying in Quebec City, this is your place! Great location, clean, nicely furnished and very reasonable!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at Maison du Fort while visiting Quebec. It's a wonderful old place located in Old Upper Town and convenient to everything a tourist would want to see. The room (#10) was lovely and comfortable. The proprietor, Marielle was a delight and helpful in every way. Pastries and coffee are served in the morning to get you off and moving to explore this unique and beautiful city. Parking is nearby for $20/day (you really don't want to bother with a car in Quebec). Please note that there is no elevator so if you have ambulatory issues, consider a room on the ground floor.

Yelp
What a wonderful stay! Everything about this place is perfect... from the incredibly warm and kind owner Marielle, to the adorable cat decorations, beautiful rooms and house cat, Oscar. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Perfect location in historic downtown. Owner helped us find parking across the street, and she speaks fluent English. Cute building with funny artwork that features cats. One friendly cat wanders the halls. Breakfast was pleasant. The room was large and well appointed with antique furniture. No noise at night. I would return to this wonderful hotel again.

Yelp
I loved my stay at Maison du Fort! It's a great value for the money, and for a two-star hotel, the rooms are spacious, very clean, and the location can't be beat. On a quiet street within the walls of the upper town, close to everything. Parking is at a premium in Quebec City, but the hotel has an arrangement with a garage nearby for 20 bucks a day -- reasonable for the area. Breakfast is a serve-yourself continental breakfast -- hence the low star rating -- but if a large full breakfast isn't important to you, this is your place. The place is really charming, and Marielle, the proprietor, is patient, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. She has a wonderful old cat who wanders the first floor, so if you're allergic this is not your place. Room 5 has a big bay window, good ventilation and all rooms have AC.

Yelp
A Wonderful, cozy, and inviting place located close to everything in Old Quebec City. We had a nice room with a sitting table and chairs, queen bed, and bathroom with a shower. The room as decorated so nicely and comfortable. The owner is a wonderful woman named Marielle, who treats everyone like a close friend. She has coffee tea and orange juice, yogurt, and homemade muffins,or breads for breakfast. I plan to stay there on my next trip to Quebec!

Yelp
Amazing. The hospitality, location, cleanliness, breakfast, and advice on what to do and see could not have been better. I recommend without reservation.

Daniel C.

Yelp
I would simply echo what others have stated. Our recent 2 day stay in Quebec City was greatly enhanced by our experience here. This is a clean, well-maintained building in the Old City. There are no elevators and the climb up and down the stairs could be an issue for some. That said, Marielle and Oscar, the house cat, provide a welcoming, delightful experience, complete with beverages and pastries in the morning, very convenient to all the beautiful destinations in the Old City.
