Hotel Majapahit Surabaya

We stayed 2 nights at Majapahit when we flew into Surabaya at the start of a two-week trip in East Java. We were attracted by the historic aspects of the hotel (which did not disappoint) but were pleasantly surprised to realise that the location is excellent. The area around Jalan Tunjungan is bustling with cafes & restaurants and at night it is full of locals. (By contrast, we visited Chinatown at night & it is downright spooky; completely closed up and dark. Similarly, the ‘Arab’ area is busy around the market during the day but is not particularly attractive for walking around). The staff at Majapahit are absolutely delightful - always smiling and helpful. We enjoyed a little tour of the history of the hotel followed by high tea in the lobby. The pool is 25m so good for lap swimming. Our room (Classic with king bed) was enormous & had lovely timber furniture. It was very comfortable. Devices to deter mosquitoes were provided but we didn’t need to use them. Breakfast was very good including the freshly made coffee. If you want brand new modern hotel facilities then this hotel is not for you. But if you want classic elegance, lush gardens and genuinely friendly service, the Majapahit offers a great respite from busy Surabaya.

This is a must stay in Surabaya with its rich heritage and history. We were upgraded for free to a heritage suite which is huge with a living room. The aura is quaint and quintessential. Lilla the receptionist was the best to give us the best tips to eat and enjoy around the Surabaya. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Very conversant in English. Strongly recommended

The room is excellent. Pool view. All of the facilities and the complimentary are top notch. The food are delicious. Always love to stay here for new year. 👍🏻|Classic historical hotel with excellent service. We have great view of the new year fireworks from this hotel.

What a fantastic hotel. One of a kind and the staff make it so special. I had a few issues mainly relating to other guests but the staff really did their best to make me feel better afterwards. So accommodating and so much history. One of the most beautiful places and it's crazy that you can stay there. It's a live in museum. Best service. Best location. Comfiest beds. Fluffiest towels. Real fresh flowers in the bedroom 😍

Toko deli very recommended , roti sisir original still same taste and very delicious. Lobby very soothing and staf very friendly. You'll welcoming by warm smile by all the staff. The MAJ have a very great ambience . Good place with a good music

Heritage, classics, and luxury brought me to the Napoleonic era. Also, this hotel represents Surabaya as Heroes City. I would highly recommend staying here during a vacation with family or business trip; you will learn the art of staycation while learning history.

its like travel back in time. if u like to see or feel abit of the early 1900s come stay a nite or 2. unfortunately unlike its better relative Raffles Singapore, this hotel is not filling its room it seems as we booked 3 rooms but didnt see many guests.
