Hotel Manda Beach

We only came here for a coffee in the restaurant by the pool. The outdoor seating area facing the beach attracted us. The male staff (who was a musician) served us delicious coffee and was extremely friendly!

After ready many previous reviews I was a bit skeptic, especially regarding the service and language skills.. However I just spent 2 nights with my kids and I will definately not fault this hotel. Service was very good, bungalow spacious and really clean and the staff really tried to speak English, some spoke very good English indeed. The reason I didn't give a five is purely the price of the bungalow as I thinks it's slightly too high for the area. All in all, we had a good stay whilst playing golf at Azura.

This sleepy little beach town has the market on tourism in the area. The hotel tries their best to bring about a resort style atmosphere. Mr. Du Donne made us feel at home in every possible way. The hotel management requires and provides swim caps for the pool. The food was good but may depend on the season. The calmer brochettes were out of this world. The beach is just steps away from the hotel pool and there are locals on hand to offer massage, hair braiding, traditional face painting, Pirogue trips and even cooking you a fresh catch of the day!

Decent accommodations, easy to find, and reasonably priced. We had the family sea view bungalow which was equipped with two double beds and one single, a full bathroom with shower, plenty of closet space, a mini fridge, fan, TV and safe. Our stay included breakfast (continental - bread, croissant, cake, fruit salad, yogurt, fruit juice, and a hot beverage (coffee/tea/hot chocolate) and eggs could be ordered at additional charge). Hotel has a large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and a bar area with a pool table. The water in Foulpointe is always calm thanks to the natural reef, but if the salt water gets too much for you the hotel pool is a good size with plenty of loungers and umbrellas and a small wet bar. My only 'negative' point about Manda Beach is its location on the busiest area of Foulpointe's beach, which means during busy times like holidays and weekends there is significant competition for umbrellas and seating, not to mention the relentless badgering from vendors selling snacks, souvenirs, massages, canoe trips, etc.

The pool is nice and there was once a swim up bar which is no longer used. They have fresh fish which is great. Breakfast is the same as everywhere else I stayed in Madagascar but in buffet form. Alcoholic cocktails were the same price as non alcoholic ones...|The rooms look nice from the outside but need a bit of attention inside. I wasn't too overjoyed by the lack of toilet seat in my bathroom! |The hotel is right on the beach - which is huge and attractive. The sea is very warm.|You will get pestered on the beach by the locals trying to make a living.|There were lots of bugs in the rooms but the reception did give me a mosquito coil and there are mosquito nets.

My husband and I were a bit disappointed during our stay at Manda Beach: - Only the service at the restaurant was satisfying. - The mosquito net is full of holes and mosquitoes and insects are coming in. - The roof of the bungalow (the most expensive bungalow we stayed in) had water drips from the rain. After this was reported to the person at the reception desk, they told us, "hopefully it won't rain anymore." - There was no warm water for 3 days and we informed the person at the reception desk. He said, "you probably clicked something on the water heater. It shouldn't be an issue." Well, customers should not be blamed for this issue. We wouldn't go in the closet and press on a button on purpose. He then said that he would send someone to repair it, and that was no problem. - The swimming pool is filthy and is full of insects and mosquitoes, so I preferred not to swim during our stay.

The hotel was OK, nothing amazing. We had rooms rather than bungalows so were a little further from the beach which was fine. Bungalows are on beach, rooms on other side of the pool. Pool was nice and food at the restaurant was good. ||||Room had 2 beds pushed together which we separated as were travelling on a group trip and didn't know each other- but only one mosquito net! Staff supplied a mozzie coil as an alternative! Bathroom was full of mosquitoes- no fly wire screens on doors/ windows so stuffy when everything closed up.||||Wifi in reception only- OK place but nothing special.

We stayed here for 1 night as part of a cycling trip of Madagascar in a bungalow. While a nice location on the beach the rooms were very tired and the bathroom walls had gone black with age. Cockroaches in the room. It needs a big renovation and then it could be a lovely hotel. Wi-fi in main reception only.
