I was very excited of staying at Santa Teresa Guest House in Rio. After all the press they got last year as a pop-up project from a very well known brand, my expectations were very high and I must say, I wasn't dissapointed. If you are looking for a Bohemian spot in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by nice restaurants and bars this is a good alternative. The service was excellent, so was the nicely served breakfast and the 24hrs. free bar, offering pastries from the region and fresh juices. My room had an amazing view over Rio, right on the top of the hill. The bed was super comfortable and the bathrooms well equiped (slippers, quality amenities, comfi bathrobes), all reffurbished and very clean. The public spaces are set up in a way that you feel invited to stay, chill and relax. The pool wasn't working yet as it was off season, but it looked to me like the perfect place for organising a roof top party. The staff was very friendly and professional. They organised me a tour around the top hidden places in Rio and gave me cool insider tips for shopping, eating, discovering and falling in love with the city. I would deffinitely go back soon!

What's so nice about this hotel is that it's removed from the hustle and bustle of Rio and all the tourists found along the beaches: it's like living in Rio rather than just visiting just another hotel in Rio. Beyond the location, Maria Santa Teresa is just a nice place to stay. It's small, which contributes to the homey vibe, but it's also very hip too. It's been recently renovated and is similar to an upscale ACE hotel. There's nothing bland about it, just comfortable cool. ||||I visited with several friends, and it's a great place to hang out. The pool is nice, the view is amazing, and the staff was extremely helpful in arranging meals, day trips, and transportation. I highly recommend staying here, especially if you're traveling with friends, alone, or as a couple.

Stayed at the Maria Santa Teresa for 3 days and 2 nights and could not possibly be more pleased with the experience we had! First of all the location is unreal. Perched on top of the lovely and gorgeous Santa Teresa area, the views from the hotel/rooms/pool area were absolutely stunning! It is also a couple blocks away from great restaurants, bars etc. The various rooms in the hotel - from the lobby, to the lounge/smoke room, to the actual hotel rooms- where all decorated fantastically. Definitely get an intimate, boutique-y feel throughout the property and it truly stands out as one of the nicer, hipper hotels I have ever stayed at. In addition to the aesthetics, the staff definitely gets a 5 star rating as well. Complimentary Breakfast was absolutely delicious and the concierge Bruno was extremely helpful with finding good restaurant recommendations, directions, and transportation. ||Would definitely recommend!

My husband and I stayed in the Master Terrace Room, which had fantastic views, comfortable bed, fun décor, great bathroom (and great bathroom products!). The reception area was unique, artsy, very trendy--we loved the vibe. Pool area was great, and also had wonderful views of the city. ||||The hotel is very secure, and staff was super helpful. We were robbed during the day down the street, however the hotel staff were extremely empathetic and helpful, even driving us to the police station. I would not give this incident as a sole reason to NOT go to this hotel; this can happen in any major city and is unfortunately common in Rio. Although it appears to be a safe and quiet street, be careful and aware that day or night you can be robbed; utilize the safe in the room to store your valuables!||||I would highly recommend this hotel for people who like unique, off the beaten path experiences, however I recognize it may not suit everyone. It can be hard to find in Santa Teresa, and it may take a taxi a while to find the location. There is a popular restaurant across the street, use this as a reference. There are quite a few stairs in the hotel, so travelers with mobility limitations may have difficulties. These things don't bother myself or my husband, but if you're looking for a straight forward hotel experience, look elsewhere.||||Thank you, Maria Santa Teresa!

We stayed 4 nights in this guesthouse, I would definetely recommend it! Nice staff, very helpful, good cook, free drinks and snacks. The rooms are beautiful, so much attention for detail, without making the whole place feel too Disney-like. We lounged by the pool every day after breakfast, great start of the day. The neighbourhood is great too, lots of bars and restaurants, including a very nice across the street. Also very safe to walk around, even at night. Would love to go back! (One warning though: Bring earplugs, the dog next door barks at everything that passes through the street. :-))

This guesthouse (in picturesque Sta Teresa) offers a very relaxing place to stay, far and high enough from the sometimes overwhelming busy, noisy and smelling streets of Rio, but close enough to feel right in the middle of this sparkling city. The view from your room or terrace is stunning. Walk down the street and big chance there is a taxi to be hailed, or take the old VW-van (that replaced the tram) to take you down and up again for R3 a person. The people running this place are very kind and helpful; no fuzz

Lovely British couple own this hotel. We had an enjoyable stay. Facilities were good and the advice given was sincere and honest. Would like to stay here again. A little out the way, but due to "safety fears" we decided to stay here. nice neighborhood, if you don't mind the steep walking.
