We loved this hotel. The decor was modern and updated and it feels light and airy, which is what you want from a coastal hotel. The front desk staff was great and the room was nice, even though a bit small. The only thing that would make this hotel better would be a view of the water. There is a rooftop pool, a hotel lobby bar, and a breakfast area where breakfast is served each morning. We made do with the breakfast, but it wasn’t the best but also not the worst. The hotel is within walking distance of the main square, the marina, the train station, and the bus station. I’d definitely stay here again if I ever return to the area.

I stayed here with my fiancé and had a great time. Miguel Riberio was at the check-in and was an unforgettable part of our experience. He was very kind and knowledgeable and gave us many great recommendations. The staff were very kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and large. Staying at this hotel was part of the reason our trip to Lagos was so wonderful. I would highly recommend it.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights 4 days. We opted for breakfast as well. We have received 5 star service. Excellent location. Friendly staff but special mention for Jorge Pereira. Breakfast could be improved with more option e.g. boiled/fried egg, sausage etc. Otherwise it is 10/10. Room service spot on. I will stay with them if I ever come back in future.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst doing a road trip around the Portuguese coast. |The hotel is in a prime location with a great little car park next door (3 euros a day). |It is absolutely immaculate inside and out, the bedroom is extremely user friendly and a must is to get a marina view.|We actually had a couple of hours on the roof terrace as the weather was sunny and it was so private. |Breakfast very good, just would have liked a boiled egg with my ham and cheeses.

So glad we chose Hotel Marina Rio for our 2 night stay in Lagos. The location is great, with an easy walk into old town, a beautiful walk along the river, and right across from the marina with restaurants and bars. The room was smallish, but lots of efficient storage space, very nice amenities, and a comfy bed. The staff were very nice and helpful.

This hotel is perfectly located, just across the bridge from a train station, with stunning marina views. The room was cozy, clean, and the check-in process was smooth. However, there were some drawbacks. The coffee machine didn’t work, and the hot water pot appeared dirty. Additionally, their towel policy was inconvenient—requiring guests to bring down used towels to exchange for fresh ones, with no extra towels provided. While the location and views are excellent, some improvements in amenities and service would make the stay more comfortable.

This is a great hotel. It is very centrally located and easy to park if needed. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, but the breakfast is nice and sufficient. They will also cook eggs to order if requested. The rooms are nice sized and the hotel staff keeps everything clean. The front desk staff is very helpful with recommendations for dinner, etc. We thought the price was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this spotlessly clean, newly renovated hotel 4 nights. We arrived in Lagos by train with the hotel being a 5-10 minute easy walk across the pedestrian bridge on the marina.|The entire front desk staff were very pleasant, helpful and professional.|The room was spacious with a nice view overlooking the marina. It was very quiet despite being on the street side.|Breakfast was delicious with many choices each morning. The location was within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, numerous sights and the water taxi.|We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Lagos and would be our first choice if returning.

Yelp
NICE HOTEL ACROSS FROM THE MARINA IN LAGOS, PORTUGAL ========================================== I found this hotel on my own after doing some research because my son and his wife wanted to go to the Algarve for a few days. My husband's cousin who lives in Cascais and speaks Portuguese booked it for us. The price was very good. I think we paid about 650 euros for two rooms for two nights for my son, daughter-in-law and then my husband and I. I liked everything about this hotel except our view in the rear of the property from Room #207. Our balcony basically faced the bus station, but we were also on the end of the building so we had a peekaboo side view of the marina. It was a comfortable and quiet room at night, so that was good. I would highly recommend booking a room on the side that faces the marina in one of the upper floors. They have a great balcony spanning half of the hotel on the fourth floor. It's a great place to relax at the end of the day. Bring your own beverages and snacks. They also have a small pool area up some stairs overlooking the bus station. They have a small bar by reception and the prices are good. You can get towels for the pool or beach, but you need to leave them a 10 euro deposit per towel. That makes sense or people will forget to bring them back. Easy access to activities at the marina. We booked a boat/kayak tour Ponta da Piedade Caves which was a lot of fun through Days of Adventure. It was a short trip on the water which is nice because I get seasick. I did take some Dramamine which helped too.

Yelp
Spotlessly clean, updated, and quiet! The room is a ten minute walk from the railroad station, which is how we arrived and departed. Each room has a balcony with two chairs and a table. We chose a room on the west side to avoid the sun while enjoying a morning cup of coffee. It was fun to watch the beehive activity of the live market on Saturday morning. Although the bus terminal is behind the hotel, we couldn't hear anything from there with the door closed. In the evenings, we enjoyed the shade on the roof top patio. They had multiple seating areas, loungers, and a pool. The views were remarkable. Staff members were all respectful, kind, and friendly. The breakfast was complete, including pastries, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, beans, cheeses, cold cuts, juices, and coffee. We chose this hotel primarily because we took the train to Lagos, and didn't want to walk far. But it was also an easy walk to the old town and to the beach.

Yelp
This is a truly first rate hotel in a great location. Rooms are clean, well-appointed and very modern. There's a small pool on the roof, with seating to enjoy the view. Good breakfast from 7-10:30. Secure WiFi with individual logon credentials for each device. I get nervous when I can see "Vlad's iMac" because it means Vlad can see me. It was yet another Rick Steves recommendation, and when I checked out, there in the lobby was Rick Steves - making the rounds to update the books. It's a tough job but someone's gotta do it.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in Lagos. The hotel is recently renovated and the rooms were really nice. There is a rooftop on the pool with two tanning decks (one on each side of the roof) and a bar in the lobby. One thing to note about the rooms- they primarily consist of twin beds, so we had two twin beds right next to each other (pushed together) rather than one large bed. However, the beds were incredibly comfortable and we slept really well. Rooms are also newly renovated so ours was nice. The rooms were a little bit smaller than expected but not so much that it made a difference. Balcony was beautiful and there was a safe and fridge in the room. When we checked out, we had several hours before our train and the front desk held our luggage. Overall we had a really beautiful and pleasant stay and would definitely come back.

Yelp
Great, quiet hotel with excellent staff. The location is a plus. We had a room facing the bus station which wasn't the best view but fun watching the drivers park the big buses with ease. I for sure would spurge and get a room facing the marina if we have to do again. The rooftop pool is fun and refreshing after sightseeing. Breakfast was awesome! Definitely a place to stay in Lagos.

Yelp
Great value for this hotel. We would stay here again in a second. The food in the morning was EXCELLENT. Pay a little extra and stay in a room that faces the Marina. We had a cheap room on the back side with a great view of the major bus terminal .

Yelp
I visited in 2015 and couldn't't have been happier. Nice place that is within walking distance of town and the beaches. It's a little further outside of town, but that makes it a quieter area. The breakfast is excellent and is different every day. The hotel does have a pool, but I did not use it. I enjoyed watching the sun set from the balcony. I highly recommend this place, and will definitely stay here again if ever in Lagos.
