Hôtel Marinca & Spa (Olmeto, Corsica) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Wildly beautiful but mostly under the tourist radar, southern Corsica’s rugged coastline is home to some of the most dazzling scenery in the Mediterranean. A steeply angled drive along a narrow mountain road leads from the port village of Propriano to Hôtel Marinca & Spa, set on an elevated perch overlooking the sea. The luxury hotel feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, which is a large part of the appeal, and with every detail taken care of — including several stylish restaurants and bars, a Clarins spa with a hammam and a Nordic-style ice room, four swimming pools, and a private beach with sunbeds attended by staff — there’s hardly any reason to leave the premises unless it’s for a pleasure cruise on the hotel’s boat." - Tablet Hotels

The hotel is beautiful, with a lovely beach and great food. The Michelin-starred restaurant is amazing — honestly one of my favorites so far from the 22 I’ve tried! But there were a few downsides. First, the rooms are very small, and both the toilet and the shower had problems. It took about 5–10 minutes to get warm water, which is not acceptable for this price range. Second, our room had a beautiful view, but it was just above the restaurant. We could hear them cleaning and moving tables late at night and again early in the morning (around 7 a.m.). It was very disturbing and woke us up several times. Third, there are very few sunbeds, and you have to pay and book them in advance. When we arrived, everything was already booked for the next five days — so we had no choice. One day, we saw five sunbeds stay empty from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and only after asking were we told the guests never showed up. That felt like such a waste. The staff is very friendly, and everything is clean — but for the price, some important things really need to be improved.

Nice views and good food at the restaurant. The private beach is a nice touch. I love all the pools and how everything is so close to the center of the hotel. On the downside, the showers are somewhat unfunctional as they are more beautiful than effective. The rain fall is a mix of cold and hot coming out of individual spigots, and there is no shower door, the steam and some of the water just flows into your room. The bed is extremely comfortable and the linens are of the highest quality. The towels are big and fluffy and they give you plenty of them.

The hotel room was cosy with a wonderful glimpse of the ocean. We enjoyed two days at the beach profiting from the mattresses we had to reserve for 60€. The Paillotte behind was a bit noisy at lunch as were some of the guests on the beach. The breakfast terrace is fronted ny a spectacular view of the ocean however the breakfast room is quaint and not what you’d expect for a 5* hotel , felt more like a dessert buffet. Plenty of service that felt like it was all over the place. The Michelin restaurant is outstanding.

**Hotel Marinca and Spa** A nice hotel with a luxurious design. Dog friendly. The staff were generally nice, and the service level was good. The breakfast was excellent. My only comment is that they could improve their plant based latte preparation; they simply added cold oat milk to the coffee without frothing it, as they did not have a steamer or other equipment for that purpose. The beach is small but very private. We booked sunbeds for our entire stay, which was very practical, although the beach has small pebbles rather than sand. The food at the beach restaurant, La Paillote, was good. The other two restaurants, La Verrière and the particularly cozy La Table du Moulin, were decent as well (though be sure to bring anti-mosquito spray). The rooms are modern and well-equipped; however, be prepared for their tiny size. Larger guests might find themselves touching the walls with their shoulders when using the toilet. The rooms do have nice terraces with beautiful views. The bar is cozy and offers a stunning view. The spa is small but very nice and cozy. They limit the number of guests to prevent overcrowding, so it's best to reserve your time in advance. However, be prepared for many stairs throughout the hotel; this would not be convenient for elderly or disabled guests. The hotel is quiet and romantic. You definitely need a car to access the city and other nearby attractions.

The great stuff: - scrumptious breakfast - sweet staff - gorgeous sea views at the beach restaurant - modern, super clean aesthetics - clean clear turquoise private beach with lovely beds - calm atmosphere Negatives - dustbin truck arrives early in the morning with loud noise - glass bottles banging sound around 23:23PM every night - supplier trucks noise around the winding narrow roads - cocktails are average (tiny and the taste isn’t that great)

We wish we could give higher than just average, because this property is absolutely beautiful! It’s very modern and updated and comfortable. And it’s in a fabulous location with calm waters and nice beach access and beds/chairs. The views are simply amazing! The food and drink selection is very good too. But service training is definitely recommended, to really boost this place to what it could be. Attentiveness is so crucial when on your vacation, and with some service focused tweaking, this would really make this beautiful property spectacular.

We stayed at Hotel Marinca and spa for six nights recently. This is a beautiful resort with amazing views. The housekeeping staff is constantly cleaning, the entire resort is very clean. We had an amazing time and the staff is beyond friendly. We had breakfast almost every morning, which is quite good for the price. on a few days of our trip we would go drive around exploring different beaches. The front desk staff would let us borrow towels and any other items we might need for exploring. Please note, there are a lot of stairs everywhere and you have to be mindful of where you are stepping. We had dinner a few times at the restaurant on the beach, which was quite good. Also, we ate lunch a few times on the beach on our beach beds. The staff was extremely attentive at all times and made sure we had everything that we needed to be happy. We also were able to hire the boat to take us around to some nearby beaches. We had a great time! Thank you!

We visited with an infant and a child and stayed in the family suite for a week. ||The hotel was an hour away from Figari Airport where we landed and 3.5 hours to Bastia Airport where we departed from. The roads were in good condition and the long drives were not as bad as I had imagined. ||The family suite was beautifully decorated and spacious enough for a family of four. It was very clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the extra large balcony overlooking the ocean. The bathroom was large enough with a double vanity, a walk-in shower, a tub and a separate toilet area. They provided Clarins toiletries and Le Petit Prince kids toiletries and everything was replenished daily except for conditioner and body lotion for some reason. But they were happy to provide when asked. There was a mini bar in the room and glass water bottles were provided per day. Housekeeping was efficient and there was an evening turn down service as well. We loved everything about the room except the AC and venting were weak for a 5 star property. ||The grounds and facilities are meticulously maintained and well taken care of. The reception and concierge were professional and helpful. We enjoyed the beautiful views from every level of the property as it is laid out on a hill. ||The breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the service was prompt and efficient. ||We tried both restaurants, and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. Restaurant La Paillote had more of a relaxed vibe with an excellent view of the ocean. The food was amazing. We particularly enjoyed all the pasta dishes including ravioli and spaghetti. We enjoyed the molecular cuisine served at Restaurant La Verriere. The presentation and attention to details were mind blowing. We had our child with us and the staff were very kind to let him enjoy his moment at the kitchen as well. ||The hotel beach is very private and absolutely stunning. The blue water and the golden sand were just beautiful. We drove around to many parts of Corsica but the hotel beach was our favourite beach due to its privacy and exclusivity. ||We paid for the cabana to enjoy the private beach and it was totally worth it in my opinion for a family with children. It was very comfortable and the beach boys provided an excellent service. We ordered drinks, food and ice cream to the beach and they were delivered promptly. The coconut ice cream was delicious. ||I thoroughly enjoyed the facial I received from Clarins Spa at the hotel. The therapist was professional and attentive. I was able to relax using their indoor pool, sauna, steam room and ice room. ||The valet boys were very hard working and efficient, making it a breeze to get in and out of the hotel. There was an electric vehicle charging station. ||There were several small pools which made it more private and we were the only ones in the pool most of the time. All of them had amazing views of the ocean. ||It wasn’t the most family friendly hotels we have been to due to the elevation of the property and how it is laid out on a hill but we managed to push the stroller all the way down and just had to fold the stroller to take stairs down to the beach. The walks were enjoyable through the beautifully landscaped gardens and the beach boys were always willing to help.
