The 26 Best Beachfront Hotels in Europe

"Cannes, France A vast palace hotel set right in the crux of La Croisette—the oceanfront road in Cannes that's home to exceedingly smart hotels and stores—might sound intimidating. Yes, the Art Deco design is as handsome as they come; all soft blues and whites designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon (also responsible for The Savoy in London and Hotel George V in Paris). The seventh floor is home to two of Europe's biggest penthouses, so you might see filmmakers or A-listers hopping out of a Bentley out front before being whisked away by impeccably dressed staff. There's a top-notch spa and a garden for relaxing by the swimming pool, a bar and a buzzing beach club. This is an old-school hotel that's always reinventing itself. —Sarah James Distance to the water: On the beach Travel time: 25 minute drive from Cannes Airport Price: Rooms from around $306 per night" - Lauren Burvill

This was our third (and best) stay at the amazing Hotel Martinez in Cannes. We stayed for 2 weeks in the beginning of July and it has become one of our favorite destinations. It keeps getting better and is a highlight in our summer..||WHY WE LOVE IT: |- Newly renovated rooms with refreshing light blue & white decor. Super comfortable beds and high quality linens & towels |- Excellent breakfast assortment with indoor/outdoor seating and friendly & efficient service |- The beach at the Martinez is BY FAR #1 in Cannes. The sunbeds are incredibly plush and comfortable - the Carlton doesn't come close with their plastic chairs. The entire staff on the beach is friendly, smart and highly efficient. At around 230/3pm every day someone came by to see if we were ready for our afternoon coffee. |- The pool area in the hotel is a lovely break offering a serene and relaxing atmosphere |- The hotel is very family friendly. They make families feel welcome. |- They recently opened a brand new bar with gorgeous decor |- The management team are special and thoughtful people that care. They check in throughout our stay to make sure things are going smoothly and are always open to feedback and suggestions. |- A quick 5 minute walk to the Cannes Tennis Lacour |- Our kids LOVE this hotel||We travel to Europe often and are lucky to stay at the finest hotels. The Martinez is #1 in Cannes and is one of our favorite places to stay.

From the moment we arrived at Hotel Martinez, Victor made our experience unforgettable. His professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail set the tone for a perfect stay. He welcomed us with genuine hospitality, made the check-in process seamless, and went above and beyond to ensure we felt comfortable and well taken care of. Victor’s knowledge of the hotel and the surrounding area in Cannes was incredibly helpful — he gave us fantastic recommendations and made us feel right at home. It’s rare to come across someone so passionate about what they do, and it truly elevated our visit. Thank you, Victor, for your exceptional service and kindness. You’re a true gem at Hotel Martinez! We look forward to returning soon.

My boyfriend and I had the most beautiful vacation staying at Hotel Martinez during the week of Bastille Day 2025. The room, location, and food were amazing, but what really stood out the most was the service. From the concierge staff, waitresses, maids, everyone was incredible. This was my first time in France (from USA), and my boyfriend explained that Hotel Martinez and the Carlton, were the top two in Cannes, with Carlton being #1. I can firmly say, our next trip to Cannes must be at Hotel Martinez, and we would not have had the top-notch experience if we were anywhere else, thanks to the staff. Delphine (if I'm spelling that correctly), made our trip especially magical. After over-hearing us denied from the restaurant because they were closing, she didn't skip a beat and directly guided us to this beautiful bar in the back. She had us seated where we pleased, and the bar was absolutely beautiful. Speakeasy feel, incredible mood lighting and curated art-deco furnishings. Delphine had us served quickly, and when that bar closed, made arrangements for an additional glass of wine - her wine recommendations were stellar. She introduced herself as the new manager of the bar, we thanked her for her exceptional service, and she beautifully described her love for hospitality, and her "why". In LA and Miami, especially at 5 star establishments, the staff often treat guests like they are a burden to even check in or ask for reservations. Not only did we receive exceptional service, but I felt the staff truly enjoyed their work, and made us feel like we were appreciated and wanted as guests. Delphine made our last night of the trip so incredible we both left Hotel Martinez the next morning firmly resolving to return as soon as we could. There aren't enough words to explain how magical this trip was for us - many thanks to the staff for creating this beautiful memory for us.

I had an unforgettable stay at this hotel! The service was truly exceptional — every staff member went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed. My room had a breathtaking view of La Croisette, and watching the fireworks from my balcony was simply magical. The whole experience felt like a dream. Highly recommended 🥹🫶🏼💙

Terrible experience – avoid at all costs! We booked and paid for a full sea view room, but what we got was a complete disappointment. The room had half a view of another building, and the rest was blocked by a curtain. This is completely misleading advertising and not what we were promised. The quality of the hotel is extremely poor. The mattresses are old and uncomfortable, the sheets are worn out and itchy, and the cleanliness is unacceptable — we found stains that looked like blood on the floor, which clearly shows the cleaning standards are non-existent. The bathroom smelled awful, with a strong odor of mold and dampness that made it almost unusable. To make things worse, the noise at night is deafening. The hotel has no sound insulation whatsoever — just old single-pane windows that let in every sound from outside, including loud music, shouting, and street noise. Sleeping was impossible. When we complained and asked for a refund — since we did not receive the sea view room we paid for and did not want to stay — they came up with endless excuses and refused to refund us. We were essentially forced to stay in a room we never agreed to. Totally unprofessional and a waste of money. I strongly advise against staying at Hotel Martinez Cannes. What they advertise is not what you get.

An amazing hotel.. quality, elegance, kind and professional service. We booked last minute and received a generous welcome and an upgrade to sea view for my big birthday. It could not have been more perfect. Our new favorite place!

This hotel was a huge disappointment. Every day felt like a circus, with loud events and chaos in the lobby — not at all the quiet, relaxing 5‑star experience we expected. They even mischarged me at checkout, and a month later the billing issue still wasn’t fixed. Service is poor — the pool closes early, and you can’t even get a glass of water one minute after closing. Definitely not worth the high rates. I do not recommend staying here.

OK, we didnt stay at any other 5 star hotels in Cannes, so maybe dont have the best perspective to compare this to. But at this price, I expect over the top service (rooms are ~$2000 a night during peak season). I know this is a little like going to the movies and complaining about the price of popcorn (Cannes in July in premium location, we should expect to pay up). We are traveling with our family of 5, so needed two rooms including one with a rollaway bed. I noted that on my reservation, on the pre-arrival form, when we got there, and when they came for turn down service. Despite those repeated requests, we still had to call @11pm to get the rollaway. Gym is tiny, so I went at peak hours, there was nothing available (every piece of weight equipment and every cardio machine). Similarly , we didnt reserve beach beds/chairs in advance, and they had none available (guess there are 200 spots at the beach v 400 rooms). So you are paying a huge premium for hotel with access to a private beach, with no guarantee of getting any access (you cant lay out towels on the beach if you dont have chairs). All this being said, beds are comfortable, location is great, service is friendly if not efficient. Restaurant on site (L'Palm Do'r ) is WELL worth the price and see my separate review on that!

Yelp
We stayed here 3 nights during Cannes Film Festival. I understand that the rate was very expensive but the hotel was very very nice! We booked 2 connecting rooms, 1 with king bed and the other with 2 twin beds (felt bigger than twin size). When we checked in only one room was ready so they have us the key for one room. When we got to our room, our luggages were already there and apparently the other room was ready too. So we didn't have to wait to use both rooms at all. Beds were super comfy! Staffs were super nice. Breakfast was good with so many selections. We ordered room service twice and ate at the Le Jardin restaurant once and all the food was amazing! They put barricade outside and the security was strict so random people and paparazzi couldn't get in to the hotel which made us feel very safe. Love this hotel!

Yelp
Had a very troubling experience at this hotel. We booked a two week stay at this hotel and expected to be treated great considering it was a 5 star hotel in no place other than the luxurious Cannes. We were very wrong. On our first day at the pool, my designer sandals got stolen and the manager of the hotel gave us a letter stating that it was not possible to track what happened because they didn't have video surveillance by the entrance of the pool, which we felt was absurd. After continuously communicating with the front desk, the manager finally gave me back my sandals after two days. Afterwards, we got our folio and saw a charge for the restaurant that wasn't ours. After complaining to the front desk and them giving us a hard time, we asked for them to pull up the receipt and on the receipt a different room number and name as shown on it. We never expected such a high end hotel to make a mistake and this took much time out of our day. Lastly, and what prompted us to write this review was an issue with our room rug. Whenever we entered the room, the rug was stained by the nightstand and the hotel was content in offering the room to us. We didn't complain because we were on a family trip and didn't want to make a fus. at the end of our stay and when we checked out, the hotel claimed they needed to replace the whole rug in our room because there as additional stains and that we were liable for 3000 euros. we explained the rug was stained and given to us not in perfect condition to begin with. the manager at checkout agreed that it was not fair and removed the 3000 euro charge and we just paid the rest of the balance and checked out. Two hours later roughly, my husband gets an email from another manager of the hotel that they changed their mind and they were charging us 3000 euros to our credit card on file, which they did. Never in my life have i experienced something from a hotel. it's a shame because Cannes is such a beautiful place and because of the hotel, my experience had to reduced.

Yelp
Grand central train station - busy dirty and crazy. We booked a suit for 4 people. The room has 1 sink, tiny little closet and small extra sofa. We asked housekeeping for an extra bed for my daughter as we cannot physically fit on the bed and the nice housekeeping lady was going to bring it but the management refused it without any explanation. Stella at the front desk said hotel policy doesn't allow for accommodation for a small bed to be added to the suite/. What happened to making customers happy? By bringing something you already have to help someone sleep better? The Mirror above the bed is so dusty, someone drew a smile face on it and it's still there. The ac makes a crazy noise when it turns on and wakes us all up. The closet is none existent / don't be fooled by the name- suite, it's really just a room for 2, max 3 people. This is max 3 star hotel. It's really just a Hilton.

Yelp
Feels like an overpriced holiday in express with every single anything you could ever expect costing an arm and a leg a la carte in addition to the price of the stay. Want a glass of wine, 25$ even though the same bottle is 6$ around the corner. Want room service, cool, 10$ extra on top of a dish that is already upcharged by 200-300%. I'm not sure what makes this a five star resort other than it being an enclave of rich folk. We sat down for drinks at the hotel bar and weren't served for ten minutes, and then weren't checked on for 45. Had to request a check 3 times and wish I had just bailed based on the pricing. Drinks didn't even have alcohol. Excited to sit on a day bed on the pier on the sea, sorry it's under construction and they won't mention a word to you. Want to get a drink at the beach bar, sorry it's a private event and closed for the night even though it was advertised everywhere while booking. Want anything other than an extremely basic stay at a holiday inn with fancy finishes, bring an extra 1,000$. Don't plan to ever return. If you're not wearing balenciaga or Versace on full display they will treat you like lower class peasants. One of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life in terms of human interaction and the only positive time I had was when I bought a bottle of wine at the grocery store and drank it in our room.

Yelp
My best friend and I decided to spend our birthday's in the south of France. Upon arrival we noticed we had a suite with a view we were not expecting, I called the front desk and they did not hesitate to upgrade us. We chose the best hotel in all of Cannes, they genuinely care about your experience. Our stay was one of a kind. Norberts from the front office caught on when we mentioned it was our birthdays and sent us a bottle of champagne, chocolates and a thoughtful note. The following night they sent another bottle of rosé. Cannot wait to stay here again during my next time in Cannes.

Yelp
Brand new pool, gym and remodeled rooms. This place is really nice with an amazing breakfast and room service. Can't go wrong with food and drinks here out on the front deck/patio. It's also great because you can book chairs at the private Beach club with the concierge to guarantee you a spot.

Yelp
Hotel Martinez is absolutely beautiful with a phenomenal location. Full disclosure I did not pay for my stay as my wife and I were traveling with my company for Presidents club in Cannes this year. The hotel renovated recently and they removed the pool.....who does that? The Hotel has a beautiful beach bar and restaurant on the beach with lounge service and a long deck to swim off of. The rooms are beautiful, I enjoyed a side view of the ocean. The room includes a California King Mattress which was phenomenal. The Bathroom was tremendous and included a large tub, large shower with overhead shower head and plenty of towels. Why the 3 stars you ask? Upon check in there was no one available to help us with 5 pieces of luggage to our room, the hotel knew exactly how many people were checking so that was a turn off. Room service prices for a snack are a joke....$40 euro for a club sandwich $40 euro for a hamburger plus a service fee...seriously? Prices for wine, cocktails and dinner in general are ridiculous thankfully reasonable restaurants and wine bars are close by. Breakfast was setup for us in one of the ballrooms, unfortunately we didn't enjoy it. Scrambled eggs were the only eggs offered and they were awful. No Eggs Benedict, no omelette station. The bacon was good, potatoes ok. The best part was the French bread, cheeses and prosciutto every morning. All in all it was a good stay, but I would consider a different hotel if I go back.

Yelp
We stayed here for a couple of nights while we were in Cannes. It's so ... underwhelming. The location and the hotel grounds are beautiful. But here's everything else: - the rooms: an entire side of the hotel is by the train tracks! So... yup. - the service is not five stars. And mainly the concierge and the front desk. The chamber team is very nice. But they came in to clean when we had "do not disturb," which was a bit strange. - the breakfast buffet is ok I guess. Not bad. - la plage: this is their private beach. Ok so this was probably the worst part. Terrible food, limited menu, terrible service. You have to hunt people down and all the tables by us where wondering why no one was serving food, taking orders, etc. So there you go. A three star, maybe even two, experience at a very exuberant five star price (which I wouldn't mind, if the cost matched the experience).

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with amazing service and incredible rooms. The only unfortunate thing is that they no longer have a pool. Don't expect inexpensive food.... I will say, this is the most expensive cheeseburger I've ever seen! $39 euros! I guess you have to pay to play here!! No problem, I'll go to the restaurant district. I really appreciate this hotel for the beauty, location, friendliness and comfort.

Yelp
This is a stunning hotel right on the seaside. We spent New Years Eve in the outdoor bar waiting to see the fireworks. The outdoor seating area is right off the lounge area with cozy couches and heaters. The lounge had a live band and dancing that night. It was all very chic! The fireworks were stupendous! What a night to remember! The next day we found a beautiful table in their beachside cafe and spent the afternoon soaking up the sun and nibbling on complimentary roasted chestnuts.

Yelp
Wow, honestly was excited to stay here. Looks beautiful from the outside but once you are in, not only are the room poorly cleaned, the staff (management and valet) are BEYOND disrespectful. I've never experienced people like this in my life. They are rude, honestly pretty disgusting, classist, unkind, sexist and racist people. Could not recommend this hotel LESS. I've never felt so uncomfortable staying anywhere else. Can't wait for my stay to be over. RIP Also: food SUCKS and is way too expensive. Don't eat here if you enjoy good food. (

Yelp
We stayed here for 5 nights while in Cannes. The hotel is very chic and upscale. Rooms were beautifully kept and decorated - we had upgraded to a sea view and were on the 6th floor - it was incredible view! Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The one concierge was not particularly pleasant, but aside from him, we had a stress-free stay. The hotel is located right on the main street and easy to get to the main shopping areas. They have a private beach access where you can pay for day beds (per person price). Service was slow on the beach, but the food and drinks were always worth the wait. We would absolutely consider staying at Hotel Martinez when visiting Cannes again

Yelp
Great view, this place is located right near the sea, too bad I arrived here in winter :), I am sure in the Summer this place is a blast.
