My Husband and I spent a very enjoyable week at the Hotel Masson. It is an excellent, well run, family hotel and the kind and caring staff all do a fantastic job. The majority of the staff speak good English. We had a very comfortable lake view room with a balcony overlooking the pretty garden.||The breakfast consisted of the usual continental type buffet with a selection of cereals, yogurt, raspberries, fruit salad, ham, various cheeses, boiled eggs, croissants, different breads, rolls, and a vast selection of home made jams. The orange marmalade was delicious. There was also a choice of fruit juices + coffee or tea. The 4-course evening meal was outstanding with an excellent variety of well cooked and very well presented culinary delights, the meat was always of excellent quality. The duck in fruit sauce was my favourite.||We found the local Riviera Card (which was given to us on arrival at the Hotel) most useful as we went out on local trains, buses, on two funiculars and a rack railway all free of charge. The nearest train station was Veytaux-Chillon (a 10 min walk) and the nearest bus stop was Bonivard (a 5 min walk) with a 201 bus every 10 minutes. We also visited the Swiss Vapeur Parc at Bouveret on the other side of the lake and were entitled to half price entry with our Riviera card. We travelled to Bouveret by boat from Chillon which was half price with the Swiss Half Fare card and the journey took just over half an hour.||We booked the holiday through Inghams and were very happy with their services and the half-board package as it included flights to Geneva/23kg hold luggage and rail transfers, a Swiss Half Fare card, a free daily packed lunch and one free entry to Chillon Castle. Travelling on the Swiss railways was a real pleasure - on-time, every time!

A lovely friendly hotel with stunning views across the lake and over to the mountains. |Rooms are comfy. Breakfast is great. |On the downside there is no lift but it's an old hotel so that is no surprise. It's also at the top of a hill that seems to get steeper on a warm day. |Ideally situated for Castle Chillion. Regular buses into Montreux takes about seven minutes.

Pros:|Spacious|Complimentary breakfast||Cons:|No AC|No elevator |Not walking distance to major attractions/activities||Check in was easy and fast. Our room was on the third floor. You do have to walk up a very steep hill to get from the train or bus stop to get to the hotel. The walk is 3-5 min depending on your speed. ||Room: the rooms are older (hotel is 200 years old), but well maintained. It was a four bed room. Two in one room and two in the other. The beds were comfortable. We had a lovely view. Fans were provided. It was hot on night one, but the next day it rained and cooled it down. ||Restroom: spacious. They provided a hair and body wash combo soap. Water always was hot enough. The water pressure was good.||The hotel is about a 30 min bus ride from most activities. The hotel will give you a bus pass. The veytaux chillon train stop is the closest to the hotel. |They offer free breakfast that includes hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, fruit, bread, juice, tea and coffee.

This unique, stunning hotel is a gem! You feel you have stepped back in time, with all that is best in traditional surroundings, while every modern comfort has been so carefully incorporated. Simply wonderful to wake up to the view of the lake from our room's balcony, and to sit and relax in the peace and atmosphere. Personal service at breakfast with delicious home-made jams from the fruit trees in the garden. We enjoyed beautifully served evening meals too. The welcome we received from the owners was exceptional - really personal service which was so helpful in every way.

If you enjoy staying in an old, historic building, this is where you want to go. As the hotel building is close to 200 years old, the floors and bed are squeaky and can be creepy at night. No elevator in the building however the staff was kind enough to carry the bags. Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. I personally wouldn't stay here again.

This exceptional historic hotel provided a pleasant place to stay. The hospitality of the innkeepers and their staff was top notch. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and a delicious breakfast. The latter is included in the room price. The views from the lake facing rooms are outstanding. One thing to note: if you come by public transit, the climb to the hotel can be a bit of a challenge but it will be worth the effort.
