Swiss Historic Hotel Masson & Restaurant Elise

Very charming hotel which I personally absolutely loved. Staying there felt like living in Switzerland 200 years ago and in combination with the visit to the Chillon castle we had a great overall historic experience. Our main purpose was visiting the castle so the location was perfect as it is only a 10 min walk away (you do need a bit longer for a walk back as hotel is located on a pretty steep hill). We had a 4-course dinner at a hotel and it was delicious. Breakfast was great too. But the most amazing was the hotel staff. We felt very welcomed and service was just outstanding. We had some issues at the room but it was fixed very quickly. I will for sure come back.

This historic hotel is beautiful and a fun place to stay just outside of Montreux. You can easily access the city center and Chillon Castle from one of the main bus lines just down the road. The included breakfast was delicious, and the small bar/lounge area was a great place to enjoy a drink after a day exploring. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We hope to return next time we visit Montreux!

This is a beautiful hotel! The staff were helpful and breakfast was nice. Only giving it 4 stars due to location/accessibility. Coming off the public bus system, it is an intense hill for almost anyone, let alone with any luggage in tow. This is not at all a problem when coming via car/uber/taxi, but please beware to those with mobility concerns!

Absolutely wonderful! This hotel is a jewel that should not be missed. The staff are friendly, kind, and very helpful. The grounds are enchanting and the food is the best. Please, stay here if you can. It is the oldest hotel in the area, so you will have to put up with a few squeaks in the floor but that only adds to the charm. Thank you Hotel Masson!!!

A lovely friendly hotel with stunning views across the lake and over to the mountains. |Rooms are comfy. Breakfast is great. |On the downside there is no lift but it's an old hotel so that is no surprise. It's also at the top of a hill that seems to get steeper on a warm day. |Ideally situated for Castle Chillion. Regular buses into Montreux takes about seven minutes.

This unique, stunning hotel is a gem! You feel you have stepped back in time, with all that is best in traditional surroundings, while every modern comfort has been so carefully incorporated. Simply wonderful to wake up to the view of the lake from our room's balcony, and to sit and relax in the peace and atmosphere. Personal service at breakfast with delicious home-made jams from the fruit trees in the garden. We enjoyed beautifully served evening meals too. The welcome we received from the owners was exceptional - really personal service which was so helpful in every way.

Absolutely beautiful historic hotel running for 200 years ! Balconies with stunning views on the lake, great breakfast, cozy and wonderfully decorated rooms. A bit of a walk from downtown Montreux, but completely worth it. Will be staying here again the next time we’re in town.

Pros: Spacious Complimentary breakfast Cons: No AC No elevators Not walking distance to major attractions/activities Check in was easy and fast. Our room was on the third floor. You do have to walk up a very steep hill to get from the train or bus stop to get to the hotel. The walk is 3-5 min depending on your speed. Room: the rooms are older (hotel is 200 years old), but well maintained. It was a four bed room. Two in one room and two in the other. The beds were comfortable. We had a lovely view. Fans were provided. It was hot on night one, but the next day it rained and cooled it down. Restroom: spacious. They provided a hair and body wash combo soap. Water always was hot enough. The water pressure was good. The hotel is about a 30 min bus ride from most activities. The hotel will give you a bus pass. The veytaux chillon train stop is the closest to the hotel. They offer free breakfast that includes hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, fruit, bread, juice, tea and coffee.
