The place is near gate 4 of the Alba-Carolina Citadel. There are some parking spaces available nearby or paid parking available in the Citadel. The entire place is decorated in a classic style. The only thing you need to know about is that the AC is not spit type, rather a mobile unit in each room, and these are quite noisy (I think this has to do with the fact that they cannot install outside units in this historic building) Good breakfast, a nice restaurant is available on site, a-la-carte but only until 10pm It's a good option to spend the night in the Citadel...

The location of the Hotel Medieval in Alba Iulia is absolutely fantastic. The majority of all of Alba Iulia's main sights (and sites) are in the citadel area and you are right there, within an easy stroll of them all. One of the sights, the 3 fortifications walk, is on the hotel's property and entry is included for guests. The rooms themselves are large and good looking, with nice views (at least in our rooms). The lobby and restaurant areas are nice. The breakfast offers a good selection and is in a nice room, with some excellent outdoor seating if the weather is nice. However, while the rooms are big and nice, but a little tired - could do with a spruce up. Every room, for example, had at least one non-working light bulb. The rooms had free-standing air-conditioning units rather unsympathetically placed into the room with a big tube heading to the corridor and combined a lot of noise with marginal effectiveness, although we were visiting in a heat wave. More clement weather might reduce the need. Finally, beware if you book with booking.com and pay in advance. The receptionist didn't realise, and we were accidentally double charged. As soon as the mistake was realised they were apologetic and the charges reversed as soon as possible, but just make sure to remind on check-out if you have prepaid.

Unfortunately I have to say that this hotel is a joke. We booked and arrived in time just to find a super hot room and the A/C was a mobile one and extremely noisy. Room wasn't prepared so at least cool and comfortable. The windows have no curtains. We asked to move to other room but the lady from reception who was like lost in space told us they are fully booked. The second level is dusty, smelly and terrible. And this is 150 euro/ night. In our desperation we called another hotel and moved out. This never happened before. Maybe disappointed but not shocked of such service.

I have stayed here on business for 3 nights in August. I would definitely say this is not a 5 start hotel. I would struggle to give it 3 in all honesty. Location is lovely as it is within the citadel. Building itself is nice and historical. Rooms, spacious but very dated and not clean. You can see many years of accumulated dirt on soft furniture and carpets. Bathroom toiletries didn't even contain a shower gel. It was very hot and the provided air conditioning unit was not sufficient to bring room temperature down to a bearable level. Breakfast, very poor choice. One day there was not even one piece of fruit available. Reception, although some of the staff working was very friendly and helpful there were times that there was no one available and the provided telephone number was for the handset that was left on the desk so no one was there to answer it. All an all I will not stay there again.

Good central location in the citadel with free entry to guests which is most likely why you would visit the town. Rooms are massive, arguably too big, bed low but comfortable and pillows good. However my room was out of range of the wifi, no ice was available 🤷‍♂️ no soap in the bathroom dispenser and the side table light not working and the aircon was a portable unit that vents into the corridor. Finally breakfast was a limited selection!!

This is an old army barracks that has been renovated with much attention to detail and attempt to create the impression of an old medieval castle. Our room was huge. Breakfast was a lavish spread and enough for a castle full of people. Unfortunately there did not seem to be many guests around and we imagined the hotel would feel very different with more people in evidence. No internet.

Party venue, not hotel! The hotel has a restaurant and interior garden used for parties and weddings that blast music until morning. When we complained to the staff, they informed us that nothing can be done. So if you want to sleep, or relax, this is not the place. Definitely not a 5 star hotel. The rooms are incredibly stuffy and hot, and the air conditioning is excessively noisy. Not even a chance to get some rest. Terribly disappointing.
