This hotel is a huge disappointment. I booked this hotel for the last leg of a trip with my father. We stayed in ridiculously nice hotels all over the country for around the same price. This hotel doesn't even come close. I cannot believe that it is rated with 4 stars. It's a 2 star hotel, at best.
Upon checking in and seeing the room, I returned to the desk because I thought it was surely a mistake. There were two ladies working at the desk. One was nice, but she let the other one handle the situation and she could not have been more rude. Apparently the hotel is completely booked, even though there isn't another person in sight. She offered no solutions and shrugged when I said that I might have to change hotels. Not shocking now that I have read the manager responses to other negative reviews on other sites.
The lobby area is nice, but the doors are open and there are tons of bugs swarming just inside, which is both annoying and disgusting. The room is hot and musty, but they claim it is against Italian law to turn on the air conditioner. As a lawyer myself, I highly doubt that, but even so, a 4 star hotel would at least provide a fan.
We are in a room on the first floor, and I can hear every conversation happening at the restaurant/terrace area across the street. I might as well be sitting at their table.
I have stayed in Hostels nicer than this room - it is so small that you have to turn sideways to walk between the pieces of furniture. There isn't even enough space for 2 suitcases. And the bathroom? I have seen bigger showers on sail boats. No exaggeration, I promise.
I am actually using their free Internet to find a new hotel in the area now. I would not recommend booking this hotel unless you are looking for a cheap experience at a high price.
***UPDATE***
This morning, I was contacted by the marketing director, Pietro, because he wanted to discuss my review. I was hopeful that he might have a solution to offer for my experience the day before. However, he was more focused on arguing about the photos on his website. He also accused me of being aggressive, which I suppose is his idea of a woman having an opinion.
It was obvious that we were not going to be able to agree and the conversation would get nowhere. He had no plausible solutions other than moving us to a new hotel, which is an even larger waste of my time when I would like to at least enjoy part of the vacation I paid so much money to book. Instead, I was prompted to spend my morning arguing with more hotel staff.
Also, as of this morning, the sink in the bathroom does not drain properly, the tiny shower leaks water everywhere, I was unable to sleep for all the noise coming from surrounding rooms and hallways, and the safe in the closet will no longer open with our keys.
So to amend my previous review: this is a 1 star hotel with a 4 star lobby view and 1 to 0 star customer service.
