Hotel Meksiko

This was our first visit to Ljubljana and the hotel was near the Polyclinic only two stops by bus from the station and four or five from Preseren Square and the bridges. |The staff at arrival were very pleasant and helpful, and our room was huge with plenty storage and a good shower room, although we had a problem with a flushing toilet which was instantly fixed. |The only real problem with the hotel was breakfast, which was very poor indeed and presented in an unwelcoming room with what appeared to be miserable, unsmiling staff. Although most staff elsewhere were very pleasant indeed, the misery seemed to extend to reception and when we left the hotel on two mornings, the young woman on duty could barely be bothered to acknowledge us. I would suggest she find a role away from contact with the public. |These were the let-downs of the hotel, and I would not recommend it because of these shortcomings despite the positives.

An accommodation located on the outskirts of the old town with the most basic amenities. But it was our encounter with Kanita that made our stay at Hotel Meksiko from 27 Dec - 02 Jan the most memorable. Our room key was not able to unlock our room for three times in a row and the hotel receptionist simply took our feedback lightly and just swapped our room cards. It was Kanita who took the initiative to go up to our room at level 3 personally to find out the root cause of the problem that turned out that the battery needed changing and it was rectified immediately. As we had an early morning flight that required a morning pick up at 6:30am, Kanita did everything in her ability to ensure the cab will get us to the airport in time. To the management of Hotel Meksiko - our stay in Hotel Meksiko was made memorable all because of Kanita! To Kanita - thank you for everything! Have a great 2026!

Meksiko Hotel is located adjacent to Ljubljana Central Hospital Emergency Building where including the hospital itself and the parking spots of ambulances. During day time, the sirens made by the emergency vehicles are constant. Luckily it was not the case during sleeping time of our 2-night stay. There’s a Hofer Supermarket right outside of the hotel. The main entrance of the hotel is quite hidden but there are big signs with arrows showing how to access the hotel from the main road and thus we didn’t have any issue to find its entrance. The breakfast room has enough seats for the morning crowds. However it could be quite tough to go through the isles between rows of tables/seats. Breakfast was decent normal continental foods with choices of coffee, juices, and tea

Breakfast was very crowded, I believe due to the short breakfast time (only 2 hours) and the small size of the place. Breakfast was chaotic, with long lines to get food and all the seats occupied. The staff were attentive and helpful, but the problem was the lack of seating, noise, and overcrowding. The fact that it's almost inside a hospital is a bit of a problem for those who want to rest during the day, as you can hear sirens. After 8 pm there are no more sirens. Another very important point: the hotel does not have a 24-hour reception.

The hotel was suitable for what we needed it for; a clean hotel reasonably close to the bus station before travelling to the airport early the next morning. However I'm glad we weren’t staying there for more than one night / the main part of our holiday as the rooms were basic and very clinical; there wasn't even a bedside light. The curtains were also short which meant lots of light entered the room, and the breakfast was basic with not much to choose from.

The service was fine and the room was clean and comfortable. Overall, the stay was okay. However, the breakfast was very poor. The selection was small and of low quality. Honestly, I left breakfast still hungry, as there was not enough food or variety.

The room was dirty, with hair on the beds! Disgusting! There was no parking space also, payd 18e to each car to park in front of some door! The hotel is not near to the centre! The ac does not work! I did not recommend!
