"On the banks of the Charente, the legendary Royal Ropeworks of Rochefort is now the site of this tastefully restored splendid hotel: huge lobby adorned with colonial frescoes, cosy, elegant rooms, peace and quiet guaranteed, and the restaurant with its Eiffel conservatory. A delicious trip back in time." - Tablet Hotels

Very warm welcome, friendly staff, small birthday gift, everything was perfect and professional. Even our dog received a personalised welcome. The only downside was that the swimming pool was out of service, which was a shame given the scorching temperatures. We forgive them, as it was a technical problem. We highly recommend this establishment.

Excellent spacious hotel in great riverside location with lots of green space. Friendly service and (these days very important) good air conditioning.

Would have given 5* but on arrival we discovered that the aircon was faulty and it was 33°C+. After a long drive through Brittany and the Loire Valley, we were hot and exhausted and very unamused to be told of the issue. The reception could have displayed more sympathy, and offering to move us to a budget hotel in their chain around the corner was not really a sensible option for a long stay customer. This was not just an overnight stop and I had booked a 4*! In the end, however, it transpired that the aircon in our room came on in the evening and we were able to sleep very well. For the following days, it was switched off during the day whilst the engineers worked on the system but back on late afternoon which was absolutely fine. The reception needed better information about which rooms were affected by the serious system fault and which weren’t! |The staff are all very welcoming and helpful. The restaurant menu is limited, presumably they don’t expect longer stay customers (we are staying 6 nights) but well prepared and tasty. The wine menu is reasonably priced per bottle. The room is comfortable but has a slightly freaky large portrait of a famous admiral overlooking the bed and what appears to be a colonial era plantation view behind the bed (inappropriate now??). The lighting in the room needs to be brighter as we can hardly see in the wardrobe area. The only real criticism is that the toilet is separate from the bathroom in a tiny space akin to a public toilet. There’s little room to get in and close the door behind you (ours doesn’t actually lock but not a major issue). Overall, we would thoroughly recommend - the ambience is restful and classy. The breakfast choice is amazing with lovely staff. The town is pretty with lots of history. Worth a visit.

We enjoyed our stay here despite travel time to the hotel being much longer than given on AA Route Finder France. We arrived hot and tired. Road access was barred from the postcode given by Brittany Ferries, so we had to first find the hotel on foot in order to get directions to the free car park. We were fortunate enough to get the last spot.|Despite this rocky start we felt very well looked after.|The weather was in our favour and we spent some time sunbathing poolside, we walked into town and beside the estuary, (perhaps not the prettiest of views) but the Corderoi Royale was most impressive. |We loved the Nuxe honey shower gel provided in the shower, a real highlight. |We had two comfortable, quiet nights here.|We visited on a weekend and the hotel was extremely busy so our future trips to France and Spain will be aimed at midweek breaks

Having had to postpone our original visit in August due to the hôtels AC failing, we were quite looking forward to this trip. Being a Gold card holder we were hoping for a room upgrade, but as per normal it was not forthcoming. No room at the inn. We were well received by reception upon our arrival and given a good corner room, with a couple of windows to view the port... if you strained for a look from one side of one window or perhaps stood on a chair for the other, furniture placement prevented an easy view. The room was pretty well appointed and comforting with a very pleasant bathroom. We ate one night in the restaurant, of which the fare was good and pleasing. If I have a gripe it would be concerning the 'welcome drink', during the past 12 months we have stayed at 5 Mercure, 2 Mgallery and a Novotel, on all occasions two drinks were offered as a couple, but not here, you get one and pay for you partners. After everything, a good stay and a recommended hôtel

Yelp
Uhm, not sure, how to rate; on one hand you have the beautifull environment, on the other hand the compareable low hotel standard... The reception is friendly & fluent in english. I got a quite room, facing the river. The standard of the room is very very basic and reminds me to my youth-hostel times. I was searching for the gym and found it after a while somewhere hidden through the outside pool area: an empty room with historical old threatmills - simply not useable /out of order. As saidm the pool is for sumemr useage only. The breakfeast is very basic as well, do not expect much. At least I got one time fresh baguette, the other day toast only :( All in all I must say, the hotel shall need to undergo major upgrade service or lower the rates which are actually 100€+ which is too much from my point of view.
