Oh dear! Our favourite hotel in Basel is now a shadow of its former glory. It is due for a major refit, but they keep it open with skeleton staff, reception boarded up and replaced with two checkin laptops, and the lovely breakfast deck is closed for residents. Avoid until it is refitted, unless you are desperate! Still a great location, but feels like a prison with card entry security doors.

the worst hotel experience ever, this soulless hotel is now run by a company based in Liechtenstein, WE SMART! it has no staff, the keys often don't work, no restaurant, just a coffee machine, no amenities at all, it is absolutely depressing and everything is as cheap as possible, total scam! before when it was Sorrel I liked to stay here, it has absolutely totally changed, while charging the same prices!!! also the music from the restaurant which is now a bar/nightclub keeps one awake till the early hours.

Lovely hotel on the river. Located just over the bridge from the old, historic area. An easy walk from hotel to the Christmas markets, restaurants, and shopping. The staff was helpful and nice, and the front desk staff was most accommodating. |We loved the pop-up street dining options just outside the entrance. Cable cars and other small, cozy units were brought in for after work noshing and meeting. If you are interested in dining in a cable car which features fondue, make your reservations ahead of time. |The hotel was clean. The breakfast was very nice, with a good assortment of eggs, meat, pastries, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juice, etc. The green juice/smoothie brought to the table for each person was delicious!

Location was absolutely amazing - right by the river and within walking distance to everything. There is no front-desk and we were not sent a check in code for our self check-in upfront, which was annoying. Rooms are sad and updated and unfortunately there was renovation happening during our stay, which was quite loud. The free coffee and pastry station was nice.

Worst hotel experience in decades. A/C was not working properly and the room was hot. Front desk is very rude and refutes anything we say. They charged my card for 6 days! $1000, but refused to refund any of it, even though we had to leave after 1 day.

Never again, we booked the room and after doing the self check~in we entered the room and there was someone else in the room. They provided no support and they were extremely rude given the difficult situation. Not providing any help. Inside is horrible as well!

a truly depressing hotel with absolutely no soul. the hotel itself is an annex *attached* to a historic building. The interior is reminiscent of rural new york suburbs, or the ghettos of LA. the view of the river is slightly redeeming, but overall the owner should feel shame.

No reception, no information 24 h. The room on the back, simple terrible, don’t use it. Pro active assistance like internet connection and transportation card didn’t happened. No value for money only location is nice
