For me it's my first time staying at a self check in hotel that too in a place where I know none and never been before but to my surprise everything here is managed so well. The charm of this hotel is its location. It's superbly placed in the middle of everything and accessible from every point. Initially it seems that you are alone and there is no one to guide or help you in time you need the most but I must appreciate the staff of this hotel, they are always always available via phone or via email. More than professional, it's the human side of people that's praise worthy. I will remember this hotel for it's people and their humane gesture, they came to my rescue with utmost understanding and politeness and I will carry this experience forever. Basel and Merian will be remembered together. This hotel has a small community coffee go kind of room that always has coffee and tea and fruits refilled/ provided with. As they don't have a breakfast system, croissants are supplied in the morning with 24/7 coffe-tea and apples and chocolate powder to make chocolate shake/drink. There's also a fridge stocked up with non alcoholic beverages. Overall it's a good hotel!

Very reasonabe rates, rooms have a great view of the river. Great location. There is complimentay coffee, fruit, and wonderful croissants in the morning. You can take trams or walk nearly anywhere in Basel. Don't miss the Lackerli store in the building.

This was an expensive horrible stay A shit sofa bed and a bunch of loud brawling drunks till 4 am Fully loaded garbage bins under the windows I’m furious that I was given a cheap sofa bed where I injured my knee upon getting on that cheap thing Why not given a bed like normal????? I also had a small bed in the corner which was too small for 2 Fridge was off not working Sheets smelled unpleasant pillows as well For the price I was charged for this all is unacceptable I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEY SHOULD REIMBURSE ME!!!!

This hotel has an amazing position on the side of the main bridge in Basel overlooking the river. I visited purely as a coffee stop and thought the interior was really fascinating. The service was great and I thoroughly enjoyed my coffee.

A basic, self serve hotel or motel. Not really great for a business traveler unless on budget. Clean tatty in places. Lots of bars and noise at night. WiFi in rooms. No coffee making in rooms , no water and no service.

Excellent location right next to the river, but very hot in the summer due to south facing rooms. Very noisy because of terrace, restaurant and the river promenade right in front of it.

I had been in this hotel in three previous instances, alwasys in October and always for the same congress (ABIM). It had always been a nice experience, with welcoming staff, nice breakfast in its resturant, good cleaning service. This time I stayed four nights and it was horrible. The new owners have converted the hotel into a self-check-in place. this means that you do not see a soul. the reception desk has been boarded up with wooden plank. The entrance to the restaurant is closed, with a sign "Kein Durchgang". The rooms are not made up ("only if you stay a week"). In the entrance lobby and in the staircase well a sewer smell permeated the air. The "breakfast" was totally squallid, a coffe machine with stale croissants in a bare room.|NEVER AGAIN!!

Terrible experience. The self check-in didn’t work, nobody answered the phone, there was no support whatsoever. I had to go look for another place to stay. I hope i get my money back…
