We've stayed at this hotel 5-6 times over the years, but it had been 4 years since our last visit. We like the master suites and have stayed in several of them. This suite was on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. It had a king bed, two bathrooms, a mini fridge and a sitting area. A very comfortable room for us with lots of space. Breakfast was included and was very good. One of the things I really like about this hotel is the service. They excel at the basic things and the small things. If I wanted ice in a cup, I got it from the bartender with a smile. If I needed change for a 500 peso note, the front desk took care of it. As simple as those things are, many other hotels disappoint. This hotel is one of our favorite Mexico hotels.

I wanted to love this place. And I loved lots of things about it. But overall, my experience was that it goes heavy on presentation and then drops the ball on the details. The rooms are comfortable in size, but there are a number of details that make it feel like whoever designed them never had to stay in them. There aren't enough hooks on the walls in the bathroom. And the one that there was was directly over the trashcan which makes one reluctant to hang anything from it lest it fall into the trash that is filled with used toilet paper. Regarding the trashcan, it's a wooden bin with a much smaller plastic bin inside. The lid tends to fall off into the trash and since the plastic bin inside is smaller, a lot of the dirty toilet paper ends up outside of it. Not very sanitary. The floors are beautiful, but they are slippery and I almost fell stepping down from the bathroom into the bedroom after a shower. The glass shower partition is about a half meter narrower than it should be, so the entire bathroom floor gets wet during a shower. And about the steps between the bathroom and the rest of the room, they are dangerous at night as it is pitch black in the rooms. A nightlight would be very helpful (and safer). My big toe would appreciate it. The balcony was nice, albeit looked like it hadn't been swept in years, but the sliding door didn't lock, the wooden shade doors didn't latch, and the music from the restaurants in the courtyard and on the rooftop didn't stop until after 11pm each night. Twice we were unable to access our room because of a faulty lock and had to wait around for 20 minutes for someone to come fix it. And let's not forget that if you want more than 2 bottles of water, it's $50 pesos for a single liter (triple or quadruple what any corner store charges). Why not just have water filling stations for guests? The wifi is terrible and barely works in the rooms, though it is strong in the courtyards. A lot of these issues I wouldn't take the time to raise if not for the 5-star claim made by the hotel. For the price paid, I expected more. Can't beat the location, though! And the free parking was much appreciated. The free breakfast isn't half bad either. The building is absolutely beautiful and has an enormous amount of potential. It is generally in great shape. And the staff were all as helpful as could be. Specifically, the parking attendants were both wonderful and deserving of recognition.

A lovely hotel in the city center with a friendly and welcoming staff at the reception. The rooftop bar, however, was a bit underwhelming. Breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of options. The pool is available, but it seems few guests are interested in using it. Overall, a good choice for a central stay.

Lovely hotel, full of character having been converted from a former family home, with the restaurant set around a very attractive courtyard/garden. Great location too, right on the central square. Our room was beautifully decorated, the pool area is very relaxing and staff and service were excellent. We really enjoyed our stay here. Just be aware that the car park is right round the back of the hotel, as we couldn't find it initially!

Don’t get me wrong. This is a lovely hotel and a GREAT restaurant. Hard, uncomfortable hotel bed mattresses are a problem in Mexico. The hotels buy hard mattresses because they last longer so it is always a challenge to find a hotel with comfortable beds. A hard bed is like sleeping on concrete. There is no guarantee of mattress quality regardless of the hotel price. I disliked our bed in room 2410 (king size ) and our twin beds in room 2204. Both made for a miserable, sleep deprived night for me. So if hard beds are an issue for you also, please take note of this comment.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location in Valladolid. Close to ADO, cenotes and tourist sites. The standard rooms are comfortable but a little dark. Breakfast good with lots of food but it can be busy. Drinks and snacks at the pool bar are expensive.

Location and rooms: the hotel is located in the perfect location, right near the square and quite comparatively to other places we have stayed at. However on the third floor near the rooftop we did hear lots of plate scraping late at night/early in the morning which woke us. Food: My partner and I were both unwell from breakfast. But the rooftop dinner on our first night was amazing! Carlos/Charlie on the rooftops service was absolutely impeccable! Service: most of the service was great, however the front desk on one occasion wasn’t helpful. As my partners birthday was coming up I was searching to find paper and scissors to make a card - upon wondering the town and coming up empty handed, I went to the front desk and asked where I could purchase these items or whether I could have one piece of paper. The lady was quite abrupt and unhelpful, which was disappointing. And flat out refused to give me a single piece of paper or borrow scissors.

Great location and value, low key rooms with good restaurant. Room service was always in the afternoon, not a bother, just something to note. Little pool on site and protected parking. Great stay in Valladolid.
