A hotel with clean and fairly basic rooms, but the location can’t be matched (literally across the train station) and the breakfast spread / Japanese restaurant is decent.
I couldn’t find the entrance initially because they share an entrance with the Japanese restaurant Moshi Moshi on the first floor. As informed by the hotel, the reception isn’t staffed 24/7 and I didn’t think that would be any issue. However, it did turn out to be quite inconvenient when I wanted to check in / out (waiting around) - so something to keep in mind if you’re pressed on time. If you arrive when the reception isn’t staffed, the sliding doors also won’t open automatically and you have to look for the black input device on the wall to the left of the entrance (photo attached) and enter the code provided to you by the hotel.
When there was a receptionist, they were always friendly and helpful. So there’s no fault with the actual service itself.
By the way, included in the St. Gallen city tax (which you have to pay as a tourist) is a free public transport ticket for the city so be sure to ask for it if it’s not offered!
