What a wonderful hotel! The rooms have just been renovated and are very stylish. And the hotel is really positioned. Central to everything, it’s on the main shopping street and looks out to the lake. The staff were amazing. They were warm and friendly, very polished and professional, and of course helpful. We had two adjoining rooms to accommodate our young kids. I travel a lot and can highly recommend this hotel!

We had two nights here at the beginning of January. The hotel is under renovation but that didn’t trouble us at all. The new rooms are excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful. The only way we knew that there was work going on was the scaffolding outside one end of the building. Very good location. Highly recommended.

Our room was beautiful and spacious. Every single member of staff was attentive, kind and could not do enough for us. The concierge team were brilliant, suggesting restaurants and organising ice hockey tickets for us. I can’t say the ongoing refurbishments caused any issues for us, we had a wonderful stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

It's a wonderful hotel. The rooms are renovated and are very elegant while maintaining the original style. The location is really great, close to the main shopping street and overlooking the lake. The staff was friendly and professional. One of the best hotels I've been to.

A classic hotel right on the edge of Lake Geneva, offering bright rooms and a calm, upscale atmosphere. Breakfast is excellent and the rooftop bar has one of the nicest views in the city. Perfect for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

​I cannot say enough good things about our recent stay at Hotel Metropole. After a grueling transatlantic flight, we arrived feeling exhausted and were hoping just to drop our bags in morning . To our absolute delight, the staff went above and beyond to arrange an early check-in for us. Being able to freshen up and rest immediately made a world of difference in how we started our trip. ​Every staff member we encountered was professional, warm, and genuinely attentive. It’s clear that guest satisfaction is their top priority. ​You couldn’t ask for a better spot. It’s perfectly situated for exploring the lakeside, Old Town and Christmas market.

3 nights, lake view older room due for renovation. It all seems disconnected lots of space that’s locked away unused. No vibe in the foyer or venue. Some rooms and sections have undergone renovation. I’m sure when it’s all done it wil be grand. Reception was tiny, a small check in area, very dated as was the dining room for breakfast. Staff were polite and friendly. Room housekeeping excellent. Pretty quiet too considering the location. Excellent location. I’d stay elsewhere next time.

Excelente location and kind crew. They are basically uplifting the whole building. We stayed in a renewed room and it was a really good experience. The only downside was the rooftop restaurant closed due to the renewing but they still allow you to check the outside view.

This was an okay hotel for an overnight in Geneva. The travel agent booked it and did fine. Nice hotel, clean, good location. I went for a long walk around the lake at night and in the morning it was a quick walk to coffee if you want to get out of the hotel/ Really nothing to complain about as far as the hotel itself. Chocolate in the room upon arrival. Decent bed. Most importantly, air conditioning that worked on a very hot summer day. I would stay the Ritz Carlton I walked by nearby next time but it was okay enough. They weren't super nice at check in when I told them that no, I was paying for the room and it should have been in my name. Pretty sure he rolled his eyes at me, even if not intentional. They also could not give change at the desk for USD/CHF, which is pretty standard at hotels in Europe. Aside from that and being less than impressed with how small the room was, even for EU, it was good enough but not anymore than 3 stars for me.

A very premier hotel, very much catered to travelling industry professionals and business-people. I stayed here during a business trip, and the staff were very friendly. The bed and pillows were super soft, and the bathroom amenities were perfect (shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair dryer, even a robe and slippers!). I also love how they leave a tiny piece of chocolate on the nightstand!

I haven't stayed at the Swissotel, but I have visited coworkers who have, and they have all enjoyed staying at this high end business hotel. They even have a personal espresso machine (not Nestle!) in the room. The bath products are higher end, not the cheap stuff, and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The service is fantastic. The hotel itself is also conveniently located, it is about a 15 minute walk straight from the train station across the Mont Blanc bridge to the hotel. This review is for the event services and 5th floor facilities for events. We recently had our company Christmas party here and it was a great! The 5th floor is specifically used only for events. They have 2 rooms that can be sectioned off into separate rooms or opened up to join each other by a narrow hallway. The ceiling is lower, but creates a cozy atmosphere. You could easily set up the space for meetings, or for a Christmas part like we did. We had a DJ and a dance floor in one room, and a couple of tables and standing tables w/ buffet in the other open space. The hotel staff were VERY friendly and helpful. The decorating was perfect. The buffet food and dessert were OK. I have rarely had amazing buffet food at these type of events, but their food was towards the better end. The dessert buffet was OK, the petite cakes were a bit dry. The amazing add on to this space is the LARGE outdoor roof balcony. WOW! IT is large, spacious, and offers a fantastic view of the lake and the Jet d' Eau. Very impressive. Overall is this place extremely expensive? No, it was reasonable for a Geneva event location. Definitely would hold an event and attend an event here again. It was an overall great experience and place.

J'aime bien l'hotel Swissotel Metropole! OK, that was the limit of my French, so back to English. In the 10 or so times that I've been to Geneva, I have always (except once when it was full), stayed at the Metropole. A couple of reasons for this: Number 1, it is really close to my office (although the office has now moved). However, for people not travelling for work, this translates to "it is close to the town centre", which makes it easy to access the shops and restaurants. It is also facing Lake Geneva, which makes it easy to cross the bridge and access the restaurants on the other side of the lake. Number 2, the service is impeccable. The staff are always really polite, and when I was at the height of frequent visits, the manager knew me by name. Even after a year, he still recognised me. When my parents celebrated their wedding anniversary here a few years ago, I put in a quick call to the hotel, who organised champagne and fruits, which was a really nice gesture. Number 3, they have a loyalty scheme (always a bonus when you're a frequent traveller). The only main downside to the hotel is the cost - the full cooked buffet breakfast is a whopping CHF42! Although, I suspect this is fairly in-line with costs in Geneva generally. It's a very good business-styled hotel. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a booking for my next visit, so will need to try out another hotel. Boo.

I love the Hotel Métropole and have stayed there many times over the years. This time though two issues.... Our lake view room was on the first floor and with the trees there was zero view. Not a big one since we were out and about 99% of the time anyway. But still it was an up charge. The other issue was about the bill after the fact. It was only about a $60 charge but I sent an email and a fax. And the issue wasn't even so much about the $60 but no one ever got back to me in any way. Will probably not make another trip to Geneva but if I do it's a toss up if I would stay there again. After all it ain't cheap.

We had an awesome first time visit in Genève secondary to Hotel Métropole's staff and the hotel's location. We were able to walk to most of museums and fine dining restaurants. Claire, at the front desk, made our stay memorable with her attention detail (wonderful room and delectable birthday dessert)! Julian, the concierge, helped us plan fun and memorable outings such as a visit to Gruyere, a chocolate and cheese factory tour, a castle tour, and H.R. Giger exhibit. Would definitely recommend this hotel!!

Enjoyed 6 days at the Swissotel Metropol a small (112 room) hotel. Its location--right at the Old City and among shopping and tourist sites--is PERFECCT. Public transportation by tram or bus is within a block or two of the hotel at the most, making it easy to get around Geneva. Lake Geneva is right across the street and many rooms have wonderful views. Windows actually open but when closed, the room is soundproofed from the busy street below. The Old City is right there, just a short walk (uphill) from the hotel. It's a great location to explore all areas of Geneva, including taking a bus to France (just a short ride away). We stayed in a 1 BR City Suite which was spacious, but the view--overlooking an office building on a main street--was disappointing, esp. in contrast to our son's Jr Suite, which was recently renovated and was airy and bright and spacious, with incredible views of the park fronting the lake and of the lake itself. The hugely high ceilings, soothing and modern blue and white decor, and 3 floor to ceiling windows made it tempting for my husband and I to trade rooms with him since his room was much nicer (but not as spacious as our 1 br. suite). Note that our suite had a separate bedroom with a king bed but there is no bedroom door--not a problem for us, but could be challenging if you want privacy. The bathroom was spacious and nicely appointed with a deep tub, a small shower and a toilet and bidet. (my son's jr. suite had an amazing steam shower). The breakfast buffet was compact and well-appointed, with both European (meats, salads) and 'regular' (eggs, bacon, etc.) food available. Pastries were delicious and fresh fruit and yoghurt were always available. The lounge at the hotel is very popular, and it is an attractive place to grab a drink or even dinner. Prices are outrageous ($18 for a regular drink) and food, of course, is hugely pricey (think more than $30 for a hamburger). That said, Geneva is expensive when it comes to food and drink everywhere so Swissotel is not gouging its patrons, it's merely charging what all hotels and restaurants in Geneva charge. (there is a rooftop bar that's only open in the spring/summer which i hear has amazing views). Concierge and front desk service was exemplary, despite some pre check-in problems (one of our 2 hotel reservations was mistakenly cancelled, causing a bit of panic until the error was rectified). We thoroughly enjoyed our Swissotel stay and will use this chain again (have stayed in Singapore Swissotel) for our int'l travel.

This place is very well located. The old rooms are small, but have high ceilings and are well appointed. The new rooms are great. The breakfast is ok. Not great. And the lobby bar is crazy expensive, and I am coming from NY. But I like this hotel. Much better than the places on the other side of the bridge. Close to bars and restaurants. Decent value for business travelers.

This Hotel is seriously good! Of you want to feel spoiled and sleep like you've never slept before. I came around Xmas time and stayed one night before doing some shopping in Geneva before going up to the mountains. It was a perfect! It was also on the lake so the views were beautiful and the service was flawless.

Really wonderful stay here. The room was tiny, but this is Europe so there you go. Aside from that, it was really comfy, super clean and stylish, had a really good bathtub and shower, and very comfortable beds. What made our stay really nice was how kind and accommodating the staff was. The concierge helped us out multiple times, setting up train tickets for us (which we found confusing), and making dinner recommendations and reservations for us on the spot. The bartender made us feel like family, and the restaurant staff was protective of us when a guy at the table next to us was acting a little off. We really felt appreciated and at home here. Next, the location is really good- it's right next to the lake, and a two minute meander from the old town which is gorgeous. The city is relatively small and this hotel is pretty much in the middle so anything we needed was very easy and enjoyable to walk to. Love Geneva, and loved this hotel. :)

Our experience at this hotel was absolutely wonderful!!! The staff were all extremely friendly and attentive. The rooms were very clean and modern. Although our room wasn't ready when we arrived, we enjoyed a complimentary drink at the bar while we waited. It was delicious!
