The location is the best thing about the hotel. It is walking distance to the train and bus station. It is also near the city center, which is good if you want to have any food or drinks outside of their allotted time they serve. Their sign says the bar is open most of the day. It isn't. The only bar we saw open was the bar above the beach for its three hours a day. Breakfast and dinner are served at their specific times ONLY. Otherwise, you're on your own. Don't plan on bringing food or ordering food elsewhere or plan to pay their extra fees.
The beautiful garden is the second best thing. You can walk it in 15 minutes if you take it slow. All the amenities for their small fraction of a private beach are extra. We were more comfortable leaving the hotel and going to the public beach next door. It is way bigger and more friendly.
Outside of all the little rules they have for everything, the reception service is the worst. Tourists are NOT welcome here. We spent four nights here and didn't receive a "thank you" or a "how was your stay?" at checkout. If you speak anything other than Italian, you're really more of a bother. This is a hotel for other Italians, not tourists. At first, I thought it was because we were Americans, but then we saw other English speakers get poor treatment and eyerolls.
The housekeepers and other staff were more friendly and welcoming. We actually snuck cheese and crackers to our room on our last night because we didn't want to spend any more money at the hotel. Pretty sad for the amount we paid and the distance we traveled. I wouldn't come back here, and I would recommend English speakers stay somewhere else. (This is the only poor review I've given on Google. I like to give businesses the benefit of the doubt and try to use this platform for positive encouragement. But I did not feel welcome here.)
