Hotel Metropole

Hotel Metropole was a perfect choice for our stay in Santa Margherita Ligure. The service was impeccable with exceptional attention to every detail. They even took notice of my birthday with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and a nice greeting from the hotel. Our junior suite was cozy and clean with two balconies facing the sea. Breakfast was delicious, on Women's Day female guests received flowers as part of the breakfast service. Dinner at the hotel was also definitely worth trying. The relaxing spa, beautiful garden, private beach, clean facilities, great food, and sophisticated atmosphere would easily make Metropole a five star experience, but it was the top-notch service that made our stay memorable.

This was one of our favorite hotels we’ve ever stayed in. The location was perfect-very walkable, but still quiet. The hotel staff went out of their way to make us feel at home.

This hotel is sophisticated, charming, and set in the most beautiful grounds of manicured gardens with spectacular views. The rooms have retained their elegant style with attention to detail in the amenities to make your stay the completely memorable experience you would expect. The staff are very professional and helpful. The spa area is wonderful as is the pool and sea side area. So much attention to detail. Breakfast buffet is superb! Thank you to the hotel management and staff for such a magnificent holiday break!

This is one of the most beautiful hotels in all of Italy! The location on the Mediterranean Sea is breathtaking! My wife always has a wonderful massage with candle at the beautiful spa, and the breakfast and dinner at the restaurant are always spectacular! We return every year and the hotel even grants our request to stay in the same sentimental room! The staff are so incredibly friendly and we feel as if they are a second honorary family to us. Our family has returned to Hotel Metropole no fewer than 17 times (19 for some of us), and each visit only deepens our affection for this extraordinary place. Family-owned and gracefully run, it combines the charm of a private villa with the comfort of a refined seaside retreat. The staff — loyal, familiar faces year after year — embody warmth and genuine hospitality, creating an atmosphere that feels both personal and timeless. Set directly on the beach, the location captures the essence of Ligurian beauty. Hotel Metropole is not just a destination for us, but a cherished tradition.

The rooms are too pricey for what you get. It is an Old Property in Santa Margheta Italy.. convenient location to the train station, the beach, port town square and to shuttle to Portofino. The rooms are small, not very luxurious, NO IRONS in the room, The Breakfast buffet was average, The grounds are beautifully maintained. The Pool and terraces are lovely and scenic. But still not worth the money.

Best Hotel in Santa Margherita Ligure! My husband and I came to this sweet little town thirty years ago but could only afford a small room in a pensione. This time we spent five nights at Hotel Metropole. The staff are incredibly sweet and hardworking. The room was spacious and the bed so comfortable (although I had to ask for a fan because of the high heat wave) , the gym and spa were great and I love the ‘beach’ area. You can jump right into the sea and they have pool noodles to use! Breakfast was the same but very good and the staff couldn’t do enough to make you happy. Can’t wait to return!

My friend thought it was perhaps the best hotel she had ever stayed at. I am more widely travelled but I thought it was among the best. I booked it 9+ months in advance to get the best accommodation at the best price. It's in the perfect location. It's in town around the corner from the train station. From the center of town, there is an easy (but crowded) bus to the center of Portofino that leaves every 15 minutes. I suspect Santa M. L. is a better place to stay than directly in Portofino.||It has great amenities. The spa is free and nicely arrayed with a steam room, sauna and large indoor pool with sea water and massage water jets. One needs to reserve an hour in advance. It was not crowded so they let us stay later. The chases lounges on the aqua sea are magical as are the fragrant gardens. The gym is well enough equipped. They specify that they wish you to dress for breakfast. The buffet was not the best I have had in Europe but was above average. They gave us a room with a beautiful view and a small balcony. There were black Ants that came in from the balcony but they sprayed and that took care of it ||We stayed 3 nights which was ample time to see the immediate area. But one could stay here longer and tour Cinque Terre as well.

Exceptionally amiable hotel with nice food and moderate prices. Saltwater pool and small beachfront are a big plus. Don't mind the €18 bottle of Pinot Grigio either. ;)
