Metropole Taormina Maison D'Hotes (Taormina, Sicily) 15 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"When it comes to Sicilian hospitality, glossy high design is hardly the first idiom that comes to mind. As the island’s economy has developed, Sicily’s general atmosphere of rustic earthiness has gone from stigma to selling point. That’s true of Taormina, whose old town center is as pleasantly weathered as any in southern Italy. But once inside the old Metropole Taormina Maison d’Hôtes, behind that 18th-century grand-hotel facade, it’s another story entirely." - Tablet Hotels

Great location. Excellent view. Very attentive staff. Loved the terrace bar. The concierge was 10 on 10. A good place if you want to walk the streets and access the beach ( 5 minutes walk plus a cable car) ||Ambra was outstanding

We loved our stay at the Metropole. The room was beautiful, the location truly incomparable. You walk out the front door and you are right on the main walking street in town. Amazing. And the stunning water view from the terrace bar is mesmerizing. But what we loved most of all is that we happened to be there during the Taormina Film Festival with celebrities such as Michael Douglas coming and going from the hotel. Yet the hotel staff never ignored us and was responsive to any requests. And we were never inconvenienced. The professionalism of the staff, the beauty of the hotel, the ideal location - all make it a winning combination. Truly great.

This was a superb hotel located right in the heart of taormina. Stunning views from a beautiful terrace extremely relaxing .||The infinity pool divine unfortunately advertised as an adults only hotel they allowed children in and along with some maintenance it wasn't perfect . I discussed this with the duty manager however and he totally understood my slight disappointment and compensated us for the inconvenience so all was well but just check before you book ! ||Room had a stunning view and was very clean with a super shower .

I’ve been vacationing the Amalfi Coast for a decade. This was my first time in Sicily and I can tell you Sicily and Italy are very different countries. ||I found Italy receives Americans better. Half the Sicilians in Taormina would prefer we aren’t there. ||So here’s the lowdown:||The pool failed to open on time and service was delayed by hours multiple days.||Not enough loungers for the guests. There’s only 25 rooms.||Had 100 euros get wet and they refused to exchange my bill. They made me feel as if I was trying to give them a counterfeit euro. ||They had me run around from bank to bank on my vacation. Bank staff is non existent if you’re American. Unfortunately, this over shadowed my stay because the management did not get back to me for several days. ||Beyond frustrating, and ridiculous when this should be handled by the hotel, which had zero sympathy.||Most of the staff is great the management is terrible. ||We expected better service or accommodation when you have an issue. ||The great things:|The suite is gorgeous. 2 story loft with a killer shower and bathtub. The views are beautiful and relaxing, and the pool is perfect.||Servers Carlo and both Giuseppes are incredible and entertaining. Very nice people! Take the time to say hello!! I tipped 20 euro to most staff members. Focus on the staff I suggested if you’re American. ||Angelique, the front desk manager is very sweet and easy to talk to should you have an issue. However, the manager is not familiar with customer service. ||Upon checkout I never received an itemized bill. Hold your receipts. They told me they threw my receipts out and charged me randomly for items that were not mine. ||An airport transfer is usually 75 euro this hotel charges 180. You can get a private service for 120.

This hotel is perfectly situated in town. The views are spectacular, and the breakfast spread is delicious. No complaints. By far the most important and impactful part of our stay was the staff. Amber, in particular, was incredible - she arranged everything for us, and everything she recommended was top notch - to the best gelato place, to special dinners out, to boat cruises and Etna tours. I’ve traveled all over the world, and Amber and the rest of the team at this hotel were beyond impressive.

Stayed four nights at Metropole, and it was absolutely the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. The location was perfect and the room was beautiful with a stunning view, and everyone was warm and friendly. Maria’s city tour was wonderful-she introduced us to hidden gems around Taormina that we would’ve never found on our own. Thank you, Giuseppe, for the beautiful breakfast photos and your kind hospitality each morning. We definitely want to come back again!

We stayed at the Metropole during a trip with other families, and the hotel definitely added something special to our experience. The location is perfect, right on Corso Umberto — close to everything but still quiet, with breathtaking sea views.||The hotel is stylish and well-maintained, with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The infinity pool overlooking the sea is a highlight — both relaxing and incredibly scenic. Breakfast on the terrace was another favorite moment: good quality food with an unbeatable view.||Our room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. Some small details could be improved (e.g., the air conditioning was a bit noisy at times), but overall, comfort was high.||The staff was friendly and helpful, always ready to assist without being intrusive.||We recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a refined, central place to stay, with great views and a touch of luxury without going over the top. We’d happily return.

Extremely Disappointed by the Service – Not What You’d Expect from a 5-Star Hotel We made a reservation last night for breakfast at 10:00 AM at Hotel Metropole Taormina. Not only did we not receive any breakfast, but we were also treated shockingly poorly by the staff. No one acknowledged us, no one explained anything, and we were left waiting for an hour—completely ignored. All it would have taken was a simple explanation that breakfast is only for hotel guests. Instead, we were made to feel invisible and entirely unwelcome. There was no apology, no courtesy, nothing. We’re especially disappointed because we had just spent money at the hotel the night before on cocktails, trusting that this 5-star hotel values its guests and delivers high-quality service. Clearly, that was a mistake. This experience was deeply unprofessional and disrespectful. We had hoped to enjoy a lovely breakfast in a beautiful setting, but instead, we were left feeling humiliated and angry. We would absolutely not recommend this kind of treatment to anyone expecting a luxury experience.
