Hotel Metropolitan (Bologna, Italy) 12 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There are plenty of reasons to be fond of Bologna, from its status as Europe’s oldest university town to its extremely well-regarded culinary scene. Sophisticated and urbane twentieth-century design, however, has not commonly been held to be among Bologna’s attractions. You’re much more likely, in this town, to find yourself steeped in Renaissance splendor. But there are exceptions to every rule, and in Bologna, the exception is the Hotel Metropolitan." - Tablet Hotels

On our first visit to Bologna we figured we would stay at the hotel Metropolitan because of its location in the city as it was fairly central to all the interesting areas and gave us a great place to start to explore from. One thing to note is that it is a bit of a walk from the train station, but the walk is nice and is mostly under porticoes which made it much more enjoyable. ||The hotel itself was very clean and nice and the room was set up very well. I did read from other reviewers about the odd shower/bathroom arrangement and I need to report that it was indeed a bit odd for us as well. Once we figured it out it was not an issue though and we got along with the bathroom/shower just fine.||The hotel staff was very friendly and the rooftop lounge was a great place to spend the later evenings and sometimes the late afternoons. The rooftop lounge had very nice views with good drinks and snacks. The breakfast downstairs was good, but I would only rate it a 6 out of 10 due to the lack of selection. I will tell you that the coffee was fantastic though!||We quickly fell into the timing of the Bologna locals which included a light lunch around 12-1pm, an Apertivo around 5-6pm with a very small snack and then dinner at 7-8pm. This is not our normal timing (being from the US), but once you get into the flow it works quite well and you can tell the time by the packed crowds at either the bars and/or restaurants. ||There is not much to complain about and it was a very nice stay. For those interested in Cars and/or Motorcycles you can visit the Lamborghini Museum, the Ferrari Museum in Modena or Maranello or stop by Rino’s Garage which is right around the corner from the Hotel Metropolitan located at Via Gallier, 2. Say hello to Reno for me!

Well located being a walkable distance from the train station (10 mins no cases and 15 mins with) and easy walk to restaurants and the city centre. Hotel is clean and presented well and all the staff were lovely and helpful. Particularly enjoyed the breakfasts, which were plentiful with good coffee (actually the best we'd had in Europe). Unfortunately the Australian exchange rate is so average that our room was particularly expensive (not the hotel's fault at all). Car parking facilities are available I believe (check maybe an extra cost). Does have a lift. We'd stay again if we visited beautiful Bologna.

We weren't guests but searched for a roof bar in bologna. Good views, very nice setting and the service and cocktails from Julio were standout. He did everything to make sure we were comfortable and it was a great experience. Recommend this place if you are in Bologna! The complimentary bruschetta and cheese was a nice touch and tasty!

We stayed in one of the hotel’s apartments, located just a 3-minute walk from the main building. The apartment—and its bathroom—was spacious, modern, and spotlessly clean. Everything was in great condition, and the air conditioning was especially appreciated during the hot July weather.||The apartment is situated right next to one of Bologna’s main shopping streets, with many tourist attractions, restaurants, and bars within easy walking distance.||The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful during both check-in and check-out, making the whole experience smooth and welcoming.

Our family stayed at Hotel Metropolitan for fours nights in June. All the hotel staff is incredibly customer focused, from the front-desk, rooftop bartender, and the breakfast waitstaff. |The breakfast has delicious choices and drinks on the rooftop are amazing. |The fitness center is not onsite which was unfortunate but Bologna is well suited for early morning walks before it gets too hot. |The air-conditioned rooms provided a nice respite from the heat and the hotel location is central to everything in town. |Molti bene - Highly recommend!

The hotel staff was wonderful and very helpful. The rooms, we had 2, superior and 1 family. The rooms where very spacious and bathrooms nice sizes. My only complaint is in the family room where there is an extra sofa bed the hotel charges 30 euros a day to use. I believe there should not be any charge since the bed is there. Or if there is to be an additional charge it should be a one time extra for the use.

Our room was spacious and well appointed. The private deck was a huge plus. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The roof top bar was a big highlight. The location in town could not have been better. Close to some of our favorite restaurants and the best shopping while far enough away from the university crowd.

Yelp
Centrally located, clean/modern rooms, and friendly service. I mean, what else could you ask for? The place is pretty much right in the middle of the centro, which puts it in walking distance of pretty much everything there. The rooms are reasonably large, clean, and modern, with everything pretty much working the way you'd expect it to. And the service is excellent - especially around the (excellent!) breakfast spread in the mornings. Mind you, that's for if that want breakfast - if all you want is an espresso, you can get that too :-) The bottom line - I have no complaints, and will probably stay there again...

Yelp
I am not sure why this hotel doesn't have a 5-star rating. It is in a perfect location, right down the street from the center of Bologna. The staff was professional, helpful, and friendly. It is clean and modern decor. Our room was big and had great lighting and air-conditioning, which was important as there was a heatwave happening in Italy. I would stay there again when in Bologna!

Yelp
Great location, clean rooms, great staff, FREE WI-FI, great price, comfortable beds, decent showers and A/C. Basically, that's all that really matters when you are looking for an Italian hotel in the middle of summer, right?! The walls are pretty thin so if you have the misfortune of staying near some, um, "loud" neighbors you might get a few laughs and not a lot of sleep. But, hey, you're more than likely on vacation if you are staying here so what does it matter?! You can walk to the train station from the hotel or they will happily radio a taxi. The square is a few blocks away and on the weekends (well, at least while I was there during the Summer festival time) the street near the hotel is limited to pedestrians which was nice! Close to the University section of town as well as farmer markets. Da Cesari is nearby too (eat there!) which was a plus.

Yelp
Great location, clean with new fixtures, and nice staff. The front desk gave a great dinner recommendation.

Yelp
It's an ok hotel, pretty clean. There's a slight smell to the room though and it's very odd the layout on the hotel itself. Just to get in the front door there are 2 steps (not the greatest with suitcases), then even after taking the elevator to our room you have to go up and then back down another 10 steps. It's a little dark too, not the greatest view from our room. The front desk was great, very helpful with what to see in the city. Also the terrace is nice, very quiet. Overall not bad, not great or memorable either.

Yelp
Average in every way. Rooms are clean. Staff are helpful. But, bathrooms are tiny and rooms are plain. The shower was so tiny I gave up using it and waited for the next hotel. The mod, boutique-hotel look does not extend beyond the very small lobby. There is nothing to experience here other than a place to sleep.

Yelp
Easy to find. Quick, easy and friendly check in. Room was very clean, well appointed and surprisingly spacious. Location is perfect; within walking distance to everything. There is also a very nice cafe a block away for a good quick bite. Overall a very enjoyable and restful stay. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Cheers.
