Mi Tampi is a nice little hotel, but I'm not sure it really lives up to the high ratings it has here. XThe staff are friendly and helpful. Wifi is pretty good and there are computers for guests to use. Breakfast is typical Chilean - bread / cheese / ham / hot drinks. Our room a good size and was spotlessly clean, but the decor and furnishings were very tired. The room had a pillar fan, which was an essential feature as the room became very stuffy when the fan wasn't on. Our room didn't have any exterior windows, which suited us as it was not affected by noise outside the hotel, but probably contributed to the room being stuffy. The interior courtyard is a nice feature, but unfortunately the hotel allows people to smoke in it and the smell carries whichever way the wind is blowing. Pricing at the hotel is high for what is provided, and that for me makes this an 'average' choice. Taltal is affected by the mining boom so you will pay more than you would elsewhere.

English speaking stuff is an exception. However, the people are friendly and the rooms overall clean. I was in room 4, in which windows cannot be locked. So one should not mind that theoretically someone could enter the room from the courtyard at any time. When I first entered the room, there was a disgusting smell of sewage hanging in the room. This came from a floor drain in the bathroom. I put the bathroom mat on the drain and the smell quickly disappeared. The hotel could have figured it out themselves. Instead, the bathroom mat was placed back in front of the bathtub when the room was cleaned. Warm water was flowing quite limited. It took me a while to wash shampoo out of my long hair. The breakfast is simple without choices (One roll, two slices of cheese, one yoghurt, coffee/tea, biscuits + jam on the second day of my stay). The small pool in the courtyard could not be used during my stay. The water was green. The price for the room changed when I arrived. A Chilenen fried of mine was told a cheaper price at the phone, but I had to pay 47.000 per night. Although the room was big, this is not a valuable price at the end of the season/ start of off-season, considering the smell in the room, the simple breakfast, the limited hot water access, the security issue with the window, and the green pool in the courtyard.

Tal Tal is a lovely quiet town on the Pacific sea shore, with a grand plaza surrounded by shady trees, lively and friendly and full of history. On our way back to La Serena, we spent one night at the Hotel MI Tampi and this is one place we love to remember. The house is of typical Chilean architecture, and the rooms are around an airy courtyard. Whilst the building is old, the rooms are kept spotlessly clean and feature new bed covers, new shower curtains, new taps and shower heads, everything in perfect order. ||For dinner, we were recommended the restaurant Brasas near the Plaza which opened at 8.30 PM. We were not disappointed. The décor, the various dishes and the service were outstanding.

Very nice place, friendly people. Big rooms, clean, WIFI free of charge.||Like some wirters mention before all rooms have doors and window to a garden. So it can be loud if people sit there or come home at night. I do not understand, too, how man can build a hotel this way, but this is the main, traditional style all over Latinamerica. ||Whoever travels, and does this without earplugs, should not complain about noise ;-)||Good Place to stay.

This well run hotel has very clean well equipped rooms and great bathrooms with excellent showers. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the standard Chilean fare so nothing fantastic, nonetheless a highly recommended hotel.||||Taltal is a very characterful little town with a beautiful plaza and well worth a look.

Well, we picked this hotel because of the good reviews but were disapointed. ||Yes the staff is nice but comfortable room are more important. ||The rooms of the hotel are centered around a small courtyard and the windows open to this courtyard. So you hear all the noises of the other guests and if they smoke, you smell that too. Some rooms have their windows on the hallway and one is without a window. ||To cool down the room, you can use a fan and open the window (see the above mentioned problem).||But what really bothered me was the smell of the bedlinen: like wet clothes that you have forgotten to get out of your sport bag......||||Breakfast was standard.||||The swimming pool is a big tub in the courtyard.

Clean, comfortable, cozy rooms. The staff and owners were friendly and helpful. They serve breakfast in the morning and bit was excellent. We ride motorcycles and there was safe, secure parking in an enclosed area.

New hotel equipped with large room and big bathroom also, overlooking the inner courtyard. High level of cleanliness and staff very friendly. Soundproofing not perfect but acceptable .||The big effort , considering the prices, is duly requested for poor breakfast!!
