Arrival at the hotel is initially depressing. Apparently high above the City, narrow street clogged with cars and locked steel grill. But First impressions were entirely wrong!||||The hotel is just 5 minutes walk downhill (and 10 minutes up) from the old city., the frill is not normally locked and we did not need a car to go to any of the important spots. The owner was there to greet us and the decor inside is extremely nice with Ottoman artifacts and antique furniture.||||The lift that only takes two passengers with their luggage took us to the 4th floor where we believed our room was, but it wasn't! Signs sent us up 15 stairs to another landing. Opening the door we found a lobby and another 15 steps, on a right-angled staircase, that took us to our room. We left our heavy luggage in the lobby!||||The room was magnificent, air conditioned, huge, beautifully furnished with skylights and a window overlooking the rooftops. It was big enough to have a party for at least 20 people. There was a nice, modern bathroom, and a small reading annex with plenty of books on the shelves. But again access to both are involved steps. two up and three down.||||We survive the steps carefully without any problem despite my advancing age (born 1939) and in the morning discussed it all with the owner. His reaction was helpful and assured us that id we had asked for help then the staff would have delivered and collected our bags.||||Breakfast was nit much more than continental style but it was nice ti have it in the enclosed courtyard.||||If you want to use this hotel and cannot manage steps then make it clear that you need a lower room accessible by lift. They have several.||||Don't be put off by all this, apart from our nice room the location is perfect for most tourists.
