. We booked a Junior Suite in this four-star superior hotel for a week. The location is very central, but the hotel clearly needs a complete renovation and refurbishment—especially regarding sound proofing. You can hear everything happening inside and outside the hotel from the room. The TV does not work properly, the bathroom and toilet need significant attention, both lifts were broken at the same time for almost a full day, and the entire hotel lost power one early evening.
On top of that, the hotel lacks proper management. This is particularly noticeable at breakfast and in the rooftop restaurant. There is constant chaos: if the cheese is available, the plates are missing; when the plates arrive, the coffee machine is not working, and so on. Most of the staff are trying their best, but there is no coordination, and no one seems to be leading them.
However, the main reason for our one-star rating is that we were made to feel foolish. From the beginning, there were announcements of a pool party posted everywhere in the lifts, scheduled for Friday starting at 5 PM. We finished our beach day a bit early and returned to the hotel to join the party, only to find that the announcements had been removed. To be sure, we asked at reception, and were told that no such party was ever planned. This was extremely frustrating. The likely reason was a spontaneous party in the same area the previous day that had been shut down by the police. Whatever the reason, it could have been communicated in a much more transparent and courteous way.
