Hoping this review helps others make an informed decision. We stayed at Hotel MIO during the second leg of our Bavaria trip while exploring Christmas markets. Our first stay in Munich was at Hotel Torbräu, and while I would recommend Torbräu over MIO, it is by a fairly small margin. MIO’s location is excellent. It is just a short walk to Marienplatz, which quickly becomes a central hub when visiting Munich. There is also a U-Bahn station about five minutes from the hotel, with easy access to the S-Bahn at Marienplatz, making it very convenient for getting around the city. That said, the rooms are very small. European hotel rooms tend to be compact, but MIO’s rooms felt especially tight. If space is important to you, this is worth considering. Breakfast was good and worth having, but it is not included. Plan on about $20 per person if you choose to eat at the hotel, which I would recommend for convenience and quality. Overall, Hotel MIO is a solid option and works well as a home base in Munich. However, on a return trip, we would likely choose Hotel Torbräu again, though MIO remains a perfectly reasonable alternative.

Had an outstanding 5 day stay at the Mio in Munich. Perfect location, very central in the historic district to everything we wanted to see and do across the entire city. The rooms were very clean, great size, and appreciated the bottles of water. The hotel itself is small with a bar and breakfast area. The room was also VERY quite with comfortable beds. We had a great stay here and will definitely stay at a Mio hotel again.

Nothing like being greeted in the lobby and told you had to check yourself into your room and make up your own room keys. There was no service, no help, no friendly face to greet you and help you get set up for your stay. We had a "comfy" room and it was by far from comfy. A shoebox would've been bigger than this room. The shower was over a tub and the tub walls were so tall, it was hard to get into the shower/tub (a definite fall hazard!) Had the room been bigger and there would've been staff to help, this would've been an amazing place to stay.

We arrived early and the reception was kind enough to let us have the room at 10am. It was all good from then onwards. Reception was helpful with guidance to where we should eat. Rooms were clean everyday, breakfast was nice and hot every morning.

Quaint and modern - just so so so cute - design is so pretty. Ref, safe, Nespresso machine and pods, water bottle, hairdryer, shampoo, body soap… There is a REWE grocery next door. Area is a short and pleasant walk to Marienplatz. But far enough to avoid the crowds. There is 1 staff to help you with anything you need- and all of them are so nice, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Hotel Mio by AMANO!

Google
I only gave 1 star due to the shopping and market area. Other than that... the rooms are extremely small and plain...no fridge... the shower is dangerous where you have to climb over a higher than usual bathtub ledge. Water pressure is very low. The bed is comfy and ok. There is no parking nearby so if you have any amount of luggage or shopping you have to find a nearby parking and walk and drag your luggage over the crowded street taking several trips. When they have a private party in the bar it is sooooo lound, like they did when we stayed. It sounds like a nighclub and booms and shakes til late. It's horrible. Very loud. Unbelievable actually. Also there's no staff around to check you in etc it's all online and strange. I saw some reviews thay talked about staff. We literally saw none. You feel like alone here and can't even get water or help with anything. When you walk in, at all times, the entrance hall smells so much of soured wine. Looked nice on booking. com not pleased. Definetly made a big mistake choosing this hotel. Looks way nicer on booking. Very Misleading.

We booked this hotel directly with the hotel and were impressed. I had some local recommendations that this would be a good hotel. While the self check in was slow, I had to enter all my passport information myself, I did have the gentleman at reception walk me through it. I am sure it would have been faster if he had just done it.|The room was as expected, clean and well tended to. Everything in the room worked and was in good repair. Very clean and organized.|The location is immediately on the pedestrian zone, but only a few hundred feet from a couple of streets. There is a nice cocktail bar on the main floor and very helpful attendants available at most times.|The tram and subway are very close for using local transportation. Many local coffee spots and restaurants nearby.|For the price this is a great location and hotel.

Arrived yesterday. Got in room 3.30 pm.as they said it had to be checked. Room very clean but as previous reviews said, small.|We came back to the bar on the 1st night for a nightcap which was nice. However , we came back tonight and it said bar closed ? |.I asked is the bar closed. No apology just told yes bar closed for a private party . We chose the hotel as it had a nice bar which is highlighted in the publicity . I would not have chosen this hotel had I known we only had access to the bar 2 nights rather than 3!

Yelp
I was so excited to stay at Hotel Mio in Munich Germany. I walked in to check in and the front desk manager/staff was extremely rude. We never got our AMANO surprise on arrival, we barely got a hello. He seemed annoyed we were checking in at 8:40pm on Dec 5th. I thought, maybe German's aren't as friendly! But the entire week in other areas showed me otherwise. I am sad I spent money at this unfriendly hotel. I came down another time to ask about a cab to the airport. The front desk staff was equally as annoyed and rude that I would have a question. I truly never experienced anything like this and I travel more then half the year. The hotel was clean and beautiful and located centrally, but the hotel front manager/staff ruined my experience. The sad part is, when I was checking in- I saw him chatting happily with another male guest but was rude to me and my girlfriend. This hotel is expensive and I recommend staying somewhere else.

Yelp
What an awesome hotel and the breakfast is not to be missed. The rooms are smaller than American hotels. But the beds are the best of the best. A great place for a good night of sleep.

Yelp
Hotel Mio by Amano is one of the chicest hotels that I stayed at during my Europe trip. I stayed here during Oktoberfest and couldn't be more satisfied with my stay. The decor is trendy, the staff is extremely polite, and the service is impeccable. This was one of the pricier hotels in Germany, but it was located only 10 minutes from the Oktoberfest grounds and it was well worth the price! We got a traditional Oktoberfest gingerbread cookie with icing and they also gave us an umbrella for the festival. Amano is the name of the bar here at the hotel. They also have a trendy cafe/breakfast area and a really nice lobby! Hotel Mio can be a little difficult to find as it is sandwiched between stores in a cobblestone street. You CAN'T drive right up to it, but your Uber can drop you at the end of the street and it's a short walk where you are greeted at the door by stairs and an elevator. Coming back to Germany, Hotel Mio by Amano would be my very first choice.
