They get one star because the shower and AC are great. However our room (and I suspect most other rooms) was quite loud due to the fact the top of each door has plantation shutters that are open to the common area.
This alone is not the reason for the bad review. The main reason is the deceptive behavior of the staff.
I called to check prices and was given a price for two nights. I arrived shortly after and reminded the staff on duty I had just called, and paid that amount. I confirmed with two employees that the price was for two nights. The next morning, a different employee asked me if I wanted to make a reservation for that evening. I told them I had already paid and I was told that they understood and they were just confirming that I wanted the reservation for the night. I said yes, and left for a day trip.
While on the day trip, the staff called several times to tell me I had only paid one night (after having confirmed 3 times(!) that I paid two nights). Additionally, I was quoted a price approximately 30% higher than what could be found from a simple search online. I sent them several screenshots of the prices (which included taxes and fees). Despite this information, they essentially refused to honor the online prices readily available form various online hotel aggregators.
As a result, I told them that I would not be staying another night. Before I left that morning, I placed a do not disturb sign on the door. In our text conversation that day, they asked if they could enter the room to collect out things. I told them I would take them from the room myself when I returned later. They replied that they understood. When I returned, the room had been opened and cleaned, and my things were not where I left them.
I simply cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, there are too many other options within walking distance that won’t try to bait and switch or outright lie.
