This hotel has a lot of good reviews, but the actual experience is pretty mixed. That is, it has a lot of positives. The location is fine ... at one edge of the nice part of Orizaba, and right on the main route. The back rooms are pretty quiet, except for the church bells that ring at 0600 and 0700. The hotel is clean and well-kept, and it is pleasant and open-air, such that it feels quite pleasant. The parking facility is right below the hotel, and the hotel has an excellent valet service that is always efficient.||||The downsides, however, are several. Check-in and check-out were laborious and confused. It took 5 minutes just to get a copy of the receipt, for example. They forgot to get a voucher to be able to charge meals to the room, for another example. Though the staff were pleasant, they were also quite inefficient and ineffective. ||||The room keys were regularly disconfigured, which made for a bunch of extra trips to and from the front desk when we could not get into our room.||||The water was uneven and unpredictable. One afternoon there was no hot water, which is not a great sacrifice. However, another afternoon there was no water at all for at least 2 hours, and there was no warning or announcement. When I called to ask, I was told that the water would be back in a couple of minutes. 15 minutes later, I called and asked a bit more clearly, and the answer was 45-60 minutes! The day that we were leaving, they were planning on an extended water outage.||||The restaurant was particularly ineffective and inefficient. The waitress had no idea of the menu ... had to ask about which juices they had, for example. Prices were very high also.||||In sum, this is a beautiful hotel with loads of promise. Given the many and diverse problems that we encountered, I suspect that the management is not particularly effective. Aspects of this hotel are fine ... e.g., the cleaning staff and the valet service ... but others simply do not work at all well.
