19 Best Hotels in Málaga, Costa del Sol’s Scenic Capital | Condé Nast Traveler

"Beloved by both locals and visitors, the hotel’s rooftop terrace—Terraza Molina Lario—offers spectacular views of the cathedral and the port and hosts a strong program of performances that make it a destination even for non-guests. I also noted Matiz, the hotel’s restaurant and interior courtyard, as a local favorite; the rooms meanwhile are elegant, light-filled, and many share the same admired views." - Marta Sader

Molina Lario, a Design Boutique Hotel Málaga, Spain

"Molina Lario has a sun terrace and rooftop pool, which offers views of Malaga Cathedral. Air-conditioned rooms offer free Wi-Fi and a CD player. The Picasso Museum is 700 metres away The original 19th-century front hides a modern interior. Each of the soundproofed rooms has a sound system, and some have a DVD player. There is also a bathrobe, slippers and a free chill-out CD. The hotel's Café de Bolsa serves snacks and tapas. There is an à la carte restaurant and, during summer months, a chill-out bar on the 8th floor offers stunning views over Malaga. Lovely hotel and friendly helpful staff. We were upgraded to a suite as the trip was celebrating a special birthday. Location was perfect. Very central, just at the start of the historic centre, but the room was very quiet. Great breakfast choice and the bar staff were lovely. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

If you are planning to take your partner here for a special occasion, don't. You will not make a good impression. Despite notifying the staff 10 days in advance about our "special day," we were greeted with two separate single beds. It seems they are more than ready to let any "romance" slide right out of the room. The "welcome drinks" are anything but welcoming. Be prepared to wait in line for three hours just to sit at a dirty table—which you’ll have to politely ask them to clean yourself—and then wait another three hours actually to receive the drinks. This happens because the hotel prioritizes external guests at their Rooftop bar over their own residents. As a paying guest, you are treated like a nobody. My advice: Book your stay elsewhere. If you really want the view, just go up to the terrace, take a quick look, and leave immediately. This place is not worth your time or money.

We reserved the junior suite facing the cathedral. Room was spacious, modern and clean. Even facing the busy Calle Larios the noise level wasn't bad. Hotel staff were courteous and helpful. Location was perfect for the cathedral, Picasso museum and the alcazaba.

This is a really nice hotel! The main highlight is definitely the location — right in the city centre and just a short walk to the beach. The customer service at both the reception and restaurant was fantastic; everyone was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are a bit small, and the rooftop pool is also smaller than expected, but the views from the rooftop are absolutely amazing and make up for it. Overall, a great experience and I’d happily stay here again!

We are repeat customers of the Hotel Molina Lario for several years now. The entire staff is very pleasant and helpful. They have a five star restaurant and the breakfast buffet is excellent. This hotel has never disappointed us and we will return asap. If we could give them more stars, we would!!! Looking forward to our next stay at this hotel!!!

We enjoyed our 3 nights here. Excellent central position for city and port. Taxi ranks almost outside the door|The rooftop bar was lovely for a sundowner. We were welcomed and given our courtesy drink.|Did not have breakfast as it was far more fun to go to a street cafe for Spanish breakfast and people watching|We loved Malaga. A young vibrant city and will return.

We booked a superior room, cathedral view. Room was very ordinary no view of the cathedral and quite dull. Reception area needs updating. Restaurant was brilliant has to be said. Great location in town centre.

Thank you so much to everyone at the hotel. We have stayed here twice. The hotel is in a great spot, the staff are lovely and helpful. Are rooms were always nice and clean (thanks cleaning staff). Breakfast lovely and it would have been lovely to have the breakfast roof open like our last trip. Sorry we don’t speak Spanish but everyone can speak English which really helps.

Yelp
Want a good view... have a drink or two here. It overlooks a brilliant view over the port. Come at night or sunset to get the most out of it. It's not a huge bar area. I originally came here for a drink to see if I could possible make use of the swimming pool. Then got the "pool is for guests only". But no matter... I think my bathtub is actually larger. A nice bar... lovely view.
