Hotel Monastère Maastricht

We booked an overnight stay here through the NS Spoordeelwinkel, and what a pleasant surprise it was.||First of all, the hotel itself is stunning in terms of style. It’s located in a former monastery, which you can still clearly see in the design. At the same time, it has a wonderfully modern touch. Beautiful!||The bed and the amazing rain shower were honestly the best we’ve ever had in any hotel. The duvet, pillows, and mattresses were incredibly comfortable. On top of that, the bed was really large, which made it pure enjoyment.||The rain shower was fantastic, so relaxing. But one thing I never understand about hotels: why always a walk-in shower that splashes water all over the bathroom? Just put in a spacious shower cabin and the problem is solved.||When we first entered the room, it felt a bit warm, but with the digital thermostat next to the door I simply set it four degrees cooler. The great thing is that it shows both the room temperature and the air conditioning setting, so before long it had cooled down nicely—without the air conditioning constantly blowing cold air.||Check-in was very smooth and easy. The staff are all very friendly. Good to know: you can only pay by card in the hotel.||Breakfast isn’t overly extensive, but it’s very tasty. Nothing to complain about here. There’s plenty of choice, ranging from smoked salmon to scrambled eggs, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Everything perfectly fine!||A surprisingly good hotel with an excellent location—just a few minutes from the shopping area or the Vrijthof. Top notch.

I went in slightly skeptical because the rating was modest compared to my usual TripAdvisor baseline. But the location and the thoughtfulness of the positive reviews swayed me. I'm glad they did. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. It's a wonderful, relaxed hotel for a charming city. ||Location is perfect for exploring Maastricht, and it's walkable from the train station unless you have some seriously heavy bags you can't roll/carry.|| Staff I encountered were universally polite and helpful without going over the top. I needed to print some documents during my stay, and they took care of it in seconds. Breakfast was a welcome start to each day. Not earth shattering but good selection, good quality and well tended. My fourth floor room with a loft was excellent, and my initial worries about it getting stuffy in the loft in July were unfounded. The walls and such show a few dings of age, but everything that matters has clearly been kept up. ||Maastricht is a delightful getaway for a couple of days, and the Hotel Monastere played its part in that experience.

A very nice and charming hotel just 5 minutes walk from City Hall / city center. Old style rooms beautifully renovated and modernized, with lots of air to the ceiling. No noise from outside when windows are closed. Nice breakfast.

Perfectly located in city center quaint hidden charming boutique hotel. Excellent accommodations and amenities. Staff was top notch. Details in room night light by toilet; wonderful AC bountiful breakfast buffet. Definitely my go to in Maastricht 💕

We stayed for one night. Friendly, professional staff. We had a room on the street-side, and while there was a very loud concert on the market square (very close!) we almost heard nothing from it. The room was cosy, clean, great bathroom, very good airco. Absolutely nothing to complain about.

We would recommend this hotel, it was very comfortable and enjoyed the breakfast. We stayed here for 2 nights and on Friday we were leaving by train to Schiphol airport. We were informed early afternoon the day before that there was a train strike across The Netherlands on Friday. We were unsure of what to do and we asked reception for help with the problem of getting to the airport from Maastricht. They were brilliant, extremely helpful and dealt with everything for us, which took overall about 5 hours (waiting for responses from airline etc).

Unfortunately, our one-night stay at Hotel Monastère was overshadowed by an unacceptable hygiene issue. On the morning of our departure, we found two cockroaches in our room (Room 215), one even crawling on the bed. We took photos as proof (see attached image).|We had very little time before check-out, so we didn’t report it to the front desk in person – instead, we emailed the hotel shortly after. While the hotel did respond, the tone of the replies was more focused on what we supposedly did wrong (not informing reception immediately, not showing the insects) than on sincerely addressing the issue.|Cockroaches in a hotel room are not a minor inconvenience – this is a serious cleanliness and maintenance failure. The offered 25% refund did not reflect the severity of the situation, and the lack of understanding in the follow-up communication made it worse.|We expected a much more professional and guest-focused handling of this incident. Definitely not the experience we had hoped for.

Very central hotel in the middle of Maastricht. Walking distance to shopping and great restaurants. Although the hotel is so central, it was still very quiet during our stay. This is our favorite place to stay when we are in Maastricht. The interior is nice and the staff working reception are always helpful. Highly recommend.
