Hotel is very run down and in need of a refurbishment. Room felt unclean due to its shabby state. Bathroom in particular felt very dirty because of mould stains and the blinds were covered in dead bug stains. Walls are also paper thin - could hear my neighbours showering and even turning on and off light switches (thankfully otherwise they were quiet people), and could hear everyone walking past the room at all hours of the night. Location is great, but would not recommend until the hotel has spent some money refreshing the rooms.

I liked this hotel. Has a nice cosy vibe with a modern aesthetic. Location was ideal as was in Chinatown, close to MRT and other amenities. Will definitely consider staying here again when visiting Singapore

Starting with the positives, the location is fantastic being in the heart of Chinatown. It is walking distance to tourist attractions, restaurants & bars, the MRT and Maxwell Hawker Centre. Being central to the action it is a very lively place especially after sunset so expect some bustle and noise. We were here 2 nights and attracted by the Mono's heritage but our stay was disappointing. It was converted in 2016 and is crying out for renovations to bring it up to 2025 standards. The reception staff were generally unhelpful and had a suspicious attitude to simple queries. Our room was old and tired, and it's condition bore little resemblance to the pristine website photos. The wi-fi couldn't stream anything and the fridge was barely cold...a carton of milk went sour overnight! The bathroom was in worse condition than the room. It was dingy with mould and stains in the ceiling and around the window. Not recommended, but if you do decide to stay maybe check the room first.

Spend a week here and had no issues at all. Value for money, don't expect it to be a 5 star level but it serves it's purpose. Rooms are neat and clean. Bed is huge and comfy. TV is so small but it's not an issue, you are mostly on your phone so what's the use of having a TV now adays. Location is really good, near the mall and MRT. Lot's of food shops around the area.

For the price we paid, I was expecting a bit more from this hotel. The room was clean and the furnitures were okay but the AC was a weird model that wasn't able to get rid of all the humidity in the air. The room smelled of humidity and you could feel it even once under the blankets. It wasn't a recent problem either because there were traces of mold that were starting to grow around the window. I have used better options for similar or lower price in this neighborhood.

The hotel is very nice. We spend one night here. The location is perfect because it’s close to the China town and a few minutes to the Garden by the Bay and Merlion status.

Hotel needs more cleaning specifically the rooms. Dust even inside the toilet up by the shower head. Nothing special. Best thing about this hotel is the location and the hot shower. Thats it.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 days from the 3rd-5th of September, and found a cockroach at the second night under the bed, and would say that this is unacceptable for a very basic hygiene. The lady receptionist was taking an action at once to remove it, however, by the time I checked out, no body said the word ‘sorry or apologise’ from what happened which is also a basic standard manner. Despite a really good location near chinatown, if anyone wishes to sleep with a cockroach under the bed, then here is welcome. I understand it can happened, but hearing a staff say sorry would be the least expectation to express a sincere service in hospitality sector. I did not receive any compensation regarding this matter, also wish not to as well. (I guarantee that since I stayed from the first day, I didn’t even open a window, so please there should not be an excuse about customer open a window in this case.)

Yelp
After staying a few days I am updating my review. The hotel is not fancy but very clean. The staff work hard to keep it clean. They do limit each room to 2 towels but the front desk staff are helpful. They will give you directions, order a taxi for you etc. the location is great.

Yelp
I love the simplicity of the decor and everything in black and white. This boutique hotel is conveniently located in Singapore's Chinatown where all the good cheap eats are at - if you're a serious foodie, that's a huge deal to consider. As soon as you step out of the hotel, restaurants everywhere!!! Chinatown MRT Station is about a minute walk. The ladies at the front desk are sweet and helpful. I stayed here a second time and they remembered me from my last stay. The hotel only has 3 floors and 1 elevator. The room has everything you need. Plenty of power outlets to charge your electronic devices, flat screen TV with English channels, a fridge with 2 free bottles of water daily, soap, body wash, shampoo which smells nice, a toiletry set in a clear plastic pouch (with Q-tips, shaving supplies, mini shampoo and body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.) It's about $150 (USD) per night depending on the room type. The only thing I wish was different was the bathroom. It seemed outdated and got forgotten when they were doing the black and white theme. They don't have door tags, you can control all that through a push of a button from inside the room.

Yelp
This is your basic / generic hotel - a step above the capsule hotel in Japan. I had a standard double at about US$110 a night and it was tight even by myself. You want to stay here when you want to catch two good hawker centers within a few minute walk and in center of major tourist places.

Yelp
For our short Singapore trip, I wanted to find a hotel that was centrally located to all the attractions, and is affordable and stylish. The black and white decor of Hotel Mono caught my eye when I was browsing options online. Our Grab dropped us off at the hotel on a humid and warm afternoon. I was relieved to enter the air conditioned lobby of the hotel. We checked in and got a standard double room. I had mentally prepared for a small room but it was even smaller than I expected. The bed was against the wall on one side. Around the other 3 sides, there were only a few feet between the bed and the walls. We had a small window in the room but it looked out on a sad and dark interior courtyard. We had to keep the shade down the whole time; otherwise, our neighbors only a few feet across the courtyard would be able to see everything in our room. I know that hotels in Singapore tend to have smaller rooms in general and I'm sure Hotel Mono's design is on par with what's available in the market. All I can say is that I'm happy we only had to stay in this claustrophic room for one night. The other issue was that the walls were extremely thin and I could hear people walking on the floor. Despite these issues, I am confident that given my search criteria, this was the best option available. We absolutely loved the location and can't imagine staying in a more interesting part of town. The hotel was also nice enough to extend our checkout time.

Yelp
This is a lovely black-and-white with modern simple style in Chinatown. This place is rather small, but stylish but the location is on point. It's just a street away from MRT Chinatown and just a couple of street away from the food street, so you won't be starving here for sure. It's so easy to get around with the MRT, although you don't exactly live downtown, or at MBS, it is easy to feel that way. The hotel itself doesn't provide breakfast, and the room layout (we had the double room) was kinda weird. The word cozy wouldn't come to mind, but it's definitely very modern and probably could be featured in one of those high-end architecture magazines. Despite the lack of coziness, I would stay in this place again in a heartbeat. Good price, and good transport and food option. What else do you need for in Singapore?
