I didn't stay here but did enjoy the entire bar lounge. The drinks were on special a 1.5oz pour ranch water for 4 dollars! The bar was slammed, but they were so so kind. I enjoyed how there were different rooms to occupy. Awesome atmosphere. Only comment is hey, it was really really hard to wash my hands in the ladies room haha. They also ran out of soap and paper towels so it would be nice if they had the staffing to watch those things for customers. Overall will be back, great time.

The rooms are dirty and rancid; there was old underwear under our bed. Window had a massive crack in it taped up. Like other reviews state, it is incredibly loud until 2 am, with bass shaking the floors and walls. Avoid this place at all costs.

Deafening Noise Until 2 AM – Poor Communication and No Accountability We stayed at Hotel Monte Vista in Flagstaff expecting a relaxing weekend, but our experience was anything but. The bar downstairs hosted a live concert event that went on until 2 AM, and the noise was absolutely overwhelming. It wasn’t just loud—you could feel the bass pounding through the walls. It was impossible to sleep. What made it worse was the complete lack of transparency. There was no mention of this concert or potential noise at check-in. Had we been warned, we never would have booked this hotel. After enduring a sleepless night, we requested a callback from the manager. When she finally got in touch the next day, her only response was to offer to send us a screenshot of the hotel’s website, which vaguely mentions “nightlife noise.” That kind of wording doesn’t even begin to describe the intensity of what we experienced. This was not standard city noise—this was a full-on concert shaking the building until the early hours of the morning, and no effort was made to notify guests or provide options. Extremely disappointing and unprofessional. If you value honesty, quiet, or sleep, avoid this hotel.

I am writing this review on behalf of my parents, who are unable to digitally pen it themselves. As a hotel known for its charm, unfortunately they do not make any concessions for repeat customers that were unable to make their reservation for reasons beyond their control. It is sad that businesses today have the luxury to operate without heart and compassion for their customers. My parents were heading to Flagstaff by rail, like many patrons of the historic hotel since its inception. My folks were really looking forward to a nice evening at the Hotel Monte Vista before the weekend of my brother and soon to be sister-in-law's wedding. The tracks from Chicago to Flagstaff run through a section of our country that is prone to some of Mother Nature's most dangerous and destructive tantrums. Not only did their journey succumb to the delay of a tornado watch/warning, but a disabled freight train ahead of them caused their train to be sent back to Chicago after hours of travel. At this point, there was no feasible way for them to make it to their room at the Hotel on time. They contacted the staff, saddened and defeated, to inform them that they would not be able to make their reservation. A 25% refund was offered, which is something. However, on top of the distress and anxiety that comes with potentially missing the once in a lifetime events of your son's wedding, missing this one night together beforehand was very upsetting. When I heard of the delay, I was hopeful the Hotel would have a little compassion and humility to extend some sort of concession to an elderly couple trying to make the best of their golden years. I was disappointed to hear that they were only met with a prompt and dismissive, "Policy is policy." I guess profit comes before patron these days.

I can't give a zero which is sad. The photos they show are not the rooms you get. The first night my room was disgusting and so dirty I actually checked for bed bugs. Fire hazard electeical extensions cords and cobwebs and stains. I know its an old huilsing but come on. I am not a complainer so I didn't make a big deal. I also had a shared bathroom which does not show when you book it through any of the extra sites. It only shows if you go directly to this hotels website. And the shared bathroom is just about as clean as my room was. The next night there was no parking because everyone was parking for the bar.The young lady Ava was extremely helpful with trying to help me.Because honestly I just wanted to check out and be done rather than wait for parking to go Stay in a dirty room another night. Her supervisor showed up. It's not the general manager But some chick who I guess is the assistant manager. I waved at Ava to let her know.I found the space because I had been waiting over an hour. The free parking they give you a printed piece if paper and i dont know my way around and couldnt find it (which the manager also called me stupid over) When The manager saw me wave at Ava she stomped her feet and pushed her away back to the building. I wasn't even going to address the situation but after that I addressed the "manager". When Eva called to tell her I was there to speak with her.She kicked her way through the door from the back And came stomping over. I let her know that eva was acting more of a customer service advocate and manager than her and that was unfortunate. After a lengthy back-and-forth, she advised me that she did not get paid enough to care that she needed this paycheck, thats why she was there. That's why she keeps this job and that her general manager is in thailand which sucks. I let her know.I was here due to work and that I understand sometimes we have to do things we don't like to do but that's part of being management if she had to come in early to assist. That IS part of a manager role, I know bc im here in that role for work. She said no I don't agree and I don't really care. I don't get paid enough to care and if you had any issues you should have told me. This is an old hotel and there are nicer rooms. She then told me.I should have complained last night And she would have put me in a "nicer "room. I explained to her again that I had no intentions of complaining until I saw how she acted and pushed ava away and was being pretty aggressive with her. It ended with me telling her that I hope treating me so rudely and disgustingly and laughing in my face when I have nothing but civil calm and peaceful with her made her feel better. She said it didn't and I told her.I really hoped it did because at least something Good Could come out of such a disgusting attitude and action. I've then asked the young lady's name and when she told me Ava I advise the other manager I didn't need her name that I was sure the gm would know who she was. She was confident the GM would not care about how she was acting or speaking so I'm guessing this is common for her. I also asked her to please treat Ava kindly because she was an excellent face of this hotel And more management and respectable than someone who's getting paid to do the job. As I left to the elevator she began saying nasty things about me. Honestly it's not even the rooms that is the biggest issue, it's her and her complete lack of even human decency. I wanted to stay here bc of the "haunted history" instead I got less and a motel 6 quality with the attitude of an unruly child in charge. Don't waste your money.

First off forget about parking! You'll have to pay for street parking. Paper thin walls which it is an older hotel however I heard playing on the first floor bar and I stayed on the 4th. Mid shower while all gathered up suddenly water just shuts off due to some construction. A warning would have been nice. All in all won't stay here again once was more than enough.

Google
Hotel is very nice! Smaller rooms with communal bathrooms and shower, only complaint is how loud the area is, the bar is pretty loud, you can hear it from the second floor, you can hear when your neighbors decide to do the birds and the bees at 5 am or the person trying to find their room drunk and knocks on every door down the hall! But a cute hotel, super nice cocktail bar and lounge area and the area is great. Lots of food options near by in walking distance and cute shops

Google
You can’t beat the location and service. The receptionist checking me in was awesome and the one working the wee hours graciously let me leave my bags before checking in as I stumbled off Amtrak at 4 AM and went to the Grand Canyon for the day Lots of restaurants and shops nearby To the north of the Amtrak station and a 4-minute walk away, which is key in case there are freight trains blocking the roads to the station Yes, the hotel is a bit dated but that’s what you get for a historical place. At least there was a new AC in my room

Yelp
The overall atmosphere is great! Though the rooms which I'm in right now is horrible. The outlets do not hold my phone charger could not charge my phone. The bathroom has NO ROOM to put anything in. I had to use the toilet to put my shampo, conditioner and soap on which then got the floor all wet from going in and out. The rooms are HOT and the windows don't open all the way and the tiny a/c unit is a joke! I was truly shocked was hoping for so much more. Room 308 Family Weekend for NAU 2024

Yelp
We had such a fun experience staying at the Hotel Monte Vista. It is, however, not for the faint of heart of the "finicky" traveler. If you can ride with the inconveniences and appreciate all the charm, intrigue, character and revelry, you will thoroughly enjoy your stay. First, the historic building itself is fun to explore and research. Apparently, it has experienced many "tragedies" which lead to the mystique of being haunted. We didn't personally experience any spirits of any sort, but were open to the possibility. The visual details were interesting, especially on the first floor and from outside the building. This establishment is hopping with activity. We are not partners yet it was fun to watch people having fun. We do want a good night sleep so booked our room on the upper floors, away from the bar area on the first floor. The fourth floor suite was actually noisier than the third floor suite, both booked on weekend nights, book-ending our trip to AZ. The noise level outside, from the streets, with windows cracked, was not difficult to handle either night. We were traveling with two adults couples so the option of sharing a two bedroom suite was perfect. The bathroom adjoining the rooms, in an L-shaped configuration, was tiny yet clean and functional. The doors allowed privacy. The windows might or might not go up easily to get air in the rooms (the place is old) but the ceiling fans worked well and kept air circulating. We visited the Hotel in April. Be advised that there is no air conditioning in the Hotel. April was mild, actually perfect weather but July and August? Not sure this Michigander could handle the heat. Our queen beds were comfortable in all rooms; probably of medium firm support. The bedding was comfortable. The rooms were large enough to feel cozy yet open. We enjoyed the views out the windows. One of the best features of the Hotel is its location. It is walking distance from the Amtrak Station (we ride in and felt safe walking to and from the hotel late at night and very early in the morning.). It is in the historic downtown district which is lively at most hours, quieter in the early morning, and full of interesting shops, restaurants, street art, Hwy 66 memorabilia, historical walking tours, ghost walking tours, art tours.... Plenty to fill a long weekend or even a longer stay. The staff were variable. Some staff were exceptionally helpful and others were less so. Hey, very similar to the hotel itself (wonderful features and "tolerable" challenges). We will definitely be returning. Hotel Monte Vista is our kind of place on an adventure travel vacation.

Yelp
The room was adequate. The toilet was undersized and crammed in with a small shower, similar to what you would find in a camper. The sink was in the bedroom and the lights above it did not work. There was no clock. I like to know what time it is at night. This is the positive stuff. The hotel management puts profits above the guest's quality of stay. They had a party in the lounge that ran until after 1:00 am. They decided that booking a party was better that allowing their guests to get any sleep. We were on the third floor, but the music and shouting could easily be heard. Our party was completely exhausted the following day. I will never stay there again.

Yelp
I am so happy with the services I received here. The rooms are clean and they have great deals. I spoke to Jackson over the phone and he gave me and estimate. He told me what they have available. When we got there he assigned us a room, he was very welcoming, and he went above and beyond. Jackson has top notch customer service. Thank you Jackson.

Yelp
The hotel is really old. If you like to stay in old hotels near Route 66, stay here. Otherwise, the hotel is just old. I woke up at 2:00 AM to myth bust about the ghost stories and sadly there are no ghosts. It's just all about experiencing an old hotel and the so called "ghost rooms". Also every room has the name of who stayed there.

Raina H.

Yelp
Came to experience a really cool historic hotel. Definitely spooky vibes, but the room felt a bit dirty which I guess you could expect for wanting an old fashioned experience? What really got me was the fact that the bar downstairs FILLED with college kids and the hotel lobby itself was swarming which was super annoying. We wanted to check out the historic cocktail lounge to find that it was absolutely packed with again, loud college kids. Couldn't even appreciate the history of the building. Why would you put a DJ in a historic bar....

Yelp
We booked four nights, months out. They didn't just take a deposit, they charged the entire stay in advance. I missed that if I checked in, I'd basically be responsible for the whole stay if we checked out after noticing the filth, because I missed the fine print. For a dirty room and basically zero amenities, I'm disgusted. The pretty stops at the lobby. The elevator is the last nice thing we saw. The bed was a cheap springy noisy mattress, but the sheets were clean, and the pillows were thick. Please see the comments on my pictures about the dirt. We asked the front desk nicely four times for towels and only got fresh towels once, the desk clerk got them for us. The bathroom is so tiny there was a humidity issue. I know about small 1920s bathrooms, but this was really difficult for us. The tub was so high my hubby had to help me get in, and the toilet was small like in a kindergarten. Parking is awful. They say "limited" which does not adequately describe the lack of spaces. We counted 22 for the entire hotel. The rest is street parking, which we had to do for two nights. Do not expect to park anything larger than a smaller SUV anywhere nearby. Do not stay here with a larger vehicle or if you can't haul your valuables up to your room. The desk staff is dismissive at best. I could've dropped dead in front of them and they probably wouldn't have noticed. I'm used to good customer service, and for the price, next time I'm in town, I'll probably stay at a Marriott property. We were assured there was a room fridge, there was not, and the attitude was like we were putting them put for asking. As for noise, we were over the bar, 2nd floor on the corner and it wasn't an issue. The noise was from outside drunks and sirens. We had a haunted room, so we did have a lot of wall knocks and drawer pulls rattling. The door to the hall kept opening, so I was concerned about security. We made sure to use the turn lock and not rely on the handle. Super disappointed. Angry. Grossed out. Had I noticed the room dirt sooner, I wouldn't have eaten in their restaurant.

Szervous Y.

Yelp
Did you know that parts of the movie Casablanca were filmed here in the lobby? This hotel is lovely & has all of the little details that you don't get anymore. Ghosts galore, moving chairs at night & a fun bar. My favorite place to stay in Flag.

Kati W.

Yelp
Construction that sounded like the jackhammer was in my room at 6:15am and NO WARNING or any kind of heads up from the front desk. WTF.

Chanel ..

Yelp
Easy check in and the room was so fun. Only issue was with full parking on a weekday but would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends. The bar downstairs was great and stays open later than the rest of the downtown locations.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
This "historic" hotel is tired and due for new management. They are more concerned about the lounge patrons; especially if you are 21 to 30 years old, than those staying in the hotel rooms. It is quite loud until 1:30 a.m. We had a reservation for multiple nights. After a sleepless night we asked if we could be moved to a quieter room for the remainder of our stay. The manager made no attempt to accommodate our request and made no apologies. We checked out and thankfully were given a refund for the remainder of the stay. Even after we checked out she had nothing professional to say. For nearly the same cost we stayed at Hampton Inn and had a much better experience.

Yelp
Hotel Monte Vista is a century-old landmark in downtown Flagstaff, with all the quirks and charms of just such an inn. Our stay here began Thursday evening when we arrived late, after arriving in town around 815pm and then eating dinner at the Beavery Street Brewery. Checking in to the hotel around 930pm was no problem as the staff was immediately ready to help. The outside of the building is old, brick style and the inside is wood everything. The small 1920's elevator is even lined with wood inside. The bottom floor has a tavern/ bar and the patrons keep the place up late if that is your interest. There is also a restaurant and small shop. In our case, we stayed on a corner king suite on the 4th floor, and this proved to be a good choice. The lower street noise is slightly less and the noise from the tavern is down to a murmur. The rooms are early 20th century as advertised, with overstuffed couches and chairs, hardwood tables, large fashioned wood double dresser and even an old wooden rocking chair. The bathrooms and toilets are smaller than new hotels, but do have a full tub for relaxing. The window treatments are old woodframed glazing, with single paned, overlayed windows. This means you hear more through the windows, so if you want 100% total quiet this isn't the hotel for you. The parking for the hotel is almost nil, having only 20+ parking spots, but that wasn't a concern for us since we were shuttled to the hotel by a relative and planned to spend time visiting local shops and such. There is a nearby parking garage, if needed, anyways. The bed was large and comfortable, which is the most important part of any hotel stay. Overall I liked the qualities of the hotel and its room. The staff is kind and available 24hrs. This place isn't for anyone with demanding need for quiet or guaranteed free parking, but we enjoyed it.

Kena C.

Yelp
Two night stay. Checked out 10/28/2023. Stayed in room 218. Dated red rooms with red carpet. The windows do not open or vent. Bathroom didn't have a fan or functioning window. Place needed to air out but how? In desperate need of a makeover The worse part is the bar and lobby downstairs had LOUD music that raged all night and still going in the morning. Apparently its homecoming weekend for the local collage. They didn't alert us Nd there was no signage that the place would be a 24/7 club. The hotel.should have alerted guests it was opening up its lobby 24/7 for parties. Horrible nights sleep.

Yelp
I loved my stay here! I don't think it's for everyone, but if you want to be in the middle of the fun in an historic and possibly haunted hotel, this is the spot! We arrived about 30-45 minutes before check in but the friendly gent at the front desk confirmed the room was ready and let us in early. The hotel is not modern AT ALL, but that's part of the charm! Our room had a comfortable king sized bed and art deco furniture. The bathroom was split into two... one room had a jacuzzi tub and waterfall shower head; the other room contained the sink and toilet. Both bathrooms had been recently renovated, but in an art deco, period appropriate style. The location cannot be beat; it is walking distance to all of downtown Flagstaff. We bar hopped all night and were never far from the Monte Vista sign! A few caveats... their bar area is very, very lively! They have a band most nights and you will hear it in your room. We were down the hall on the 2nd floor, as far away as you can get from the festivities. We could hear the band late into the night, but with ear plugs in, the sound was muted enough that it did not disturb my beauty rest. Also, they do not advertise that they have a limited amount of parking on the property (presumably free). We went ahead and parked in the garage across the street for $30, and when we checked in, the guy at the front desk asked if we parked in the hotel lot. So, that would have saved us a bit, but... the garage is more secure when you are in a college town with, ahem, impaired people strolling about, AND, the $30 got us parking until midnight the following day, so there was no rush to move the car after we checked out of the hotel. All in all, this place is worth a stop even if you are not staying there!

Susan S.

Yelp
When we were in Flagstaff my daughter said this hotel was haunted, so naturally that peeked my curiosity and asked if we go there . We went they the bar to the lobby and down to the bar downstairs. The we turned around and went back near the bar and went across to this nice little sitting area. (Still no ghosts) . Great atmosphere. I think if I knew about this I think it would have been fun staying. Maybe save it for next time.

Yelp
UPDATE: The hotel owner called me 2 weeks later and did compensate me for the damages endured and I do appreciate that. However I do feel keeping the review up is the right thing to do for those who are contemplating hotels in the area. BED BUGS in room 206. After finding bed bugs and having bites I notified the front desk. They refunded me for the night and told me to let them know the damages and they would reimburse me. For an entire week i continually had to politely prompt the assistant manager and was never reimbursed for the measures we took to clean our own belongings. Unfortunately we had to spend a majority of our vacation researching how to get rid of the bed bugs and make sure we didn't carry them with us. This is clearly not the first time this hotel has had bed bugs based off of the complete lack of surprise by the front desk attendant. Additionally and perhaps worst of all we haven't even received an apology. There's no remorse because bed bugs are apparently a part of the monte vista experience. This ruined our whole vacation. We want to strongly discourage others from enduring the same struggles.

Jessica J.

Yelp
I'm in two minds about this Hotel Monte Vista. It's really quaint and rocks the old-school vibe well. Plus the location is totally prime. On the other hand, our room wasn't what I'd call cozy in any way, and the bathroom wasn't to the cleanest standard I'd hope of a hotel stay, which was kind of a bummer. Check-in was quick and seamless and we were sent up to our zoom, which was the Zane Grey Suite. I didn't know anything about the popular American author until staying here peak my interest - I love the added touch of titled/themed rooms. This suit is a smaller one, with a queen sized bed, vintage dressers, a gas fireplace, and a little bit of closet space. This corner room was on the third floor facing the shops and restaurants that lined the main streets. The walls were splashed with a bright shade of yellow, and the bedding was a paisley blue pattern. I thought it was quite quirky. Note that all of the rooms here are! Another fun aspect of Hotel Monte Vista is its history. There are haunted stories of past murders here and ghosts that roam the halls. The staff are great and totally play into this! I'd probably return here solely because of it's location. Truly in the center of town, everything you could needed within walking distance.

Pamela D.

Yelp
Stay here if you want to be treated like garbage. I was unable to sleep due to all night partying in the bar under my room. I asked for some degree of compensation as a result of this and my request went unanswered by the manager. Also, some of the front desk staff were rude and dismissive. Classy building, unequivocally un-classy personnel. I would never return.

Tiernan C.

Yelp
I recommend this place to folks If you like a little bit of history this might be the place for you. Check it out. Highly recommend.

Tammie O.

Yelp
They should definitely post on their website that they serve cocktails and LOUD like really loud music until 1 AM. They do mention it a little they say if you're on the second floor right above that you'll hear it not true you will hear it from any room in that place. If you try to email nobody's going to respond to you, your money is gone and they do not care. If you're going to the hotel to experience the bar and not have to drive anywhere after. It's probably a wonderful place to stay if you're going for a haunted hotel experience with your kids absolutely not. NOT KID OR SLEEP FRIENDLY.

Erica R.

Yelp
The staff at this hotel is great, very friendly and helpful. They have a nice bar and plenty of places to hang out. The hotel is old and you will hear every sound from your neighbors and outside. Earplugs are very necessary.

David S. Y.

Yelp
Took a little vacation, stayed in a variety of hotels, thought I would soak up something historic. From the moment I walked in until I left I was thoroughly disappointed. From the person at the desk, and the slobby individual seated in the lobby, on its phone, all day no doubt enjoying free Wi-Fi. Onto my room, sketchy wiring, missing light bulbs, dirty wash cloths, debri on the floor., missing towel bar, dirty ice bucket that leaked (they don't give you a liner), when you go down stairs for ice. Non functional smoke alarm, no CO2 detector.. when I told the young man with black finger nails my room was dirty I was told I would get 10% off my room, of course I didn't. I can't forget the used envelope on the table in which the staff was asking for tips, to include their cash app address.

Nellie H.

Yelp
Lovely historic hotel! Lots of great stories to learn-just ask! Shout out to Renee who made our trip. Thanks for taking such great care of us and our room. Can't wait to come back!

Charlie B.

Yelp
Incredibly rude front desk staff. Why anyone would want to pay a premium price for "historic" motel tier amenities is beyond me.

Alex F.

Yelp
Hotel was fine; but, make sure you don't leave anything behind after checking out because they *will not* return them to you! In my case, I left a pair of AirPods Pro behind and after calling three times they claim that they do not have them. The great thing about the AirPods is that they have GPS tracking, and I can *literally* see that they are in the hotel still lol. Being unable to visit in person to use the FindMy tools, I now have to take this as a loss. Triple check before you leave, or they may steal your electronics!

Mashim S.

Yelp
Honestly the drink are straight up okay. They are strong yes but thats about it. There is nothing special about the drinks. The drinks are average, let me tell you about the service. The service is below par they hired a lot of guys from college who think to high of themselves and do not believe in customer service. Most of the time you will get a "i don't know" or "no we don't". I do not appreciate rude customer especially is this is unfamiliar town to me. Ken (just like the BARBIE movie) was extremely rude and mad me feel uncomfortable because I was with two beautiful women and he was acting like a jealous man of the beautiful women i was with that night. His act was very inappropriate.

Ashley A.

Yelp
My boyfriend booked a week in advance and called halfway of our road trip to make sure our room was still available and they said yes everything's fine just to get there and find out the previous person had not checked out yet. They tried contacting the person and they couldn't get a hold of them. Super unprofessional on everyone's part. Harrison the owner can suck it because he really didn't do anything to help accommodate us.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
If I could, I'd give zero stars. This was the most disgusting hotel I've ever been in and the staff was extremely rude. The room reeked of mold and mild, there was a huge bugbin the bathroom, and the carpet was crunchy from lord knows what being on it. We came down to let the front desk know the room was unsuitable and we were not allowed to speak to the manager. The desk clerk basically said too bad about the room so we canceled. He refused to even partially refund. This is hands down the worst hotel experience I've ever had!

Derik I.

Yelp
This hotel was by far one of the worst decisions I have made while on vacation. I have stayed in historic hotels before, notably the St. Michael in Prescott, AZ and know there are some quirks to them. This hotel was dirty, no air conditioning, dirty unchanged sheets, drapes which were transparent, a tv that barely worked, loud bar patrons right outside all night. My mother became violently ill our first night, breaking out in hives and throwing up. I tried to talk to the front desk about a possible partial refund or possible discount and was met with a blank stare and 72 hour cancellation rule. We checked out and forfeited our second night. My mother wanted to return to the valley but ended up at the Hilton instead. Just pay the 12$ for an Uber and stay at one of the chains around downtown. This place isn't suitable to be a homeless shelter.

Stephen H.

Yelp
This used to be a funky and quirky hotel to stay in with a lot of historic charm. We stayed a Saturday night recently and they had live music playing so loudly until 1:30 am that even on the top floor it was loud enough to prevent us from sleeping. There was no notice that we might be disturbed when we made our reservation or checked in. Needless to say, we won't be staying here any longer.

Alison S.

Yelp
I travel and stay in hotels numerous times a year. By the time I got to the Hotel Monte Vista I had stayed in 4 hotels in a two week period. That being said in my life of traveling I have never walked into a place and wanted to walk out forfeiting my $444.72 because of the Front Desk Clerk. At this point no words had been exchanged. The clerk never looked up to greet us. It was 1:30 on Sunday June 19th and he said you can't check in until 3:00 never looking at us. The next day the keys didn't work so i had to get the keys reactivated. He forgot to put two nights on the keys. Anyway he threw the keys across the counter without a word I blame management! Never once did any of the clerks stand to greet your customers

John J.

Yelp
Hotel is old! Not charming!! Curtains frayed, carpets worn/dirty, Our room A/C looked like it was bought at Walmart and the install was done by a child... that was bad enough, but I could overlook a lot as I knew it was old. Final straw was the parking issue, you have to register your car and get a permit for the side lot that is marked for guests only. However they do not enforce it at all, if you can't get a place to park, their response is to pay to park in the street... Yet less than half the cars in their so call lot had parking passes displayed... unless you want to park blocks away on the weekends, stay away! NAU isn't even in session yet, can't imagine staying here during a college weekend! The bar is like a dive bar from 30 years ago, the Rendevous lounge is overpriced bad drinks. The only really nice place was the Japanese restaurant, but doesn't make up for the rest of this place! I could go on, but why! Just take my word, if you want an enjoyable stay in Flagstaff, this is not the place!

Yelp
A hotel that could be so much more and insists on being less. The architecture of the lobby is wonderful. The room I was in was good sized. But then you had the peeling paint, mildew in the shower, carpet a decade too old, and the lack of cleaning service "for the safety of our guests (note: I've never been threatened by a hotel maid). I don't get embracing mediocrity like this when you have a gem. Absentee owner?

Yelp
Cool historic hotel so little bit of a throw back in time. Room had window AC which was fine but don't expect the latest appointments in the rooms or flooring, but I enjoyed its charm and staff and there's a great little lounge and bar for night caps. Can't beat location for downtown restaurants and vibe. Great coffee in the morning of my stay!

Yelp
Left a bag was at front desk, drove a couple hours to retrieve bag most of it was missing. Nothing was done about it. No compensation or even an apology. One manager who speaks unprofessional with no response from owners through phone or email.

Yelp
Enjoyed our stay in this historic hotel. I'm a fan of historic so it's hard for me to give bad ratings unless something is really out of sorts. This hotel and some cosmetic makeovers in the room-flooring and bathroom overhaul with the exception of the original sink. The bathroom was tiny but thankful I didn't have to use the toilet in the hall closet like the room next to us (true to one hundred year old style). We walked through the halls to see where all the famous guests had stayed which was fun. I didn't like the picture in our room was had a big crack which was a safety hazard. One star missing because the front desk workers were polite but I'm from cordiality city (Vegas) and used to chipper dipper concierge workers.

Yelp
I came to this hotel specifically for the history. I knew about the murders and deaths in the room so I wanted to experience that. I came here knowing it wasn't going to be a luxurious stay. I stayed in the room which a woman passed away in her chair. When I first walked in was was super creeped out. The rooms are old and outdated but I feel like it fits the vibes. The rooms are hot and don't have air conditioning. Nothing paranormal happened but I was sketched out the entire night.

Yelp
I've been here a few times over the years. It's gotten pretty depressing. Dirty carpets, windows, needs a good dusting. Front desk one young guy that could care less if you stay or not. We asked for extra towel and washcloth, was told he needed to find the housekeeping key, took over an hour to get what we asked for. It's a shame the place is going downhill.

Yelp
Noisiest hotel ever. ground floor club blaring music every night. front desk personnel are powerless to get them to turn it down. no phone in room so have to go down stairs multiple times. elevator not working. I'm tired and I'm furious. owner needs to get their priority straight -- paying guests will stop paying. I will never recommend this hotel and I will never come back. i chose it because it's historic and affordable. I so wanted to like being here. BIG mistake.

Yelp
I was so excited to stay at the Monte V. I've wanted to stay here for a long time, but sadly, I don't think I'll ever return. First, when we were checking in, the couple in front of us told the woman at the front desk that they went to their room and opened the door, and there was still someone staying in there! The woman confirmed that the guest never checked out, so she put them in the last room available. As we finished checking in, the couple came to the front desk again and said that the new room hadn't been serviced and was filthy. I should've known what was going to happen from here. We got into our room and it was fine. The shower is insanely tiny, and I was unsure if I was going to fit in it. We had to rush out for a reservation, so we only had enough time to use the bathroom and drop off our bags. We got back to the room around 12:30 and started getting ready for bed. That's when I noticed the bugs. They were everywhere. There were 8 on the bed and I just kept counting more and more all over the room. We called the front desk and talked to John (I believe) who was helpful and apologetic. He offered to put us in two separate rooms on two separate floors (it was me, my husband and my friend sharing a double queen room) but we declined. He refunded our money and we found a different hotel. I was told I would be hearing from the manager, but that never happened.

Yelp
This place is a dump! NO AC. Live band plays til 2am. You'll be better off at a chain hotel.

Yelp
We approached the person at the front desk to ask if we could see a room before deciding if we wanted to stay there. He said it's against the hotels policy to show rooms before booking. We decided to take a chance and booked it with him. After about 20 minutes of waiting for him to book we asked about the two restaurants attached to the hotel. One of them was open at the time and he said the other one would open in about an hour. As it turns out the other one is never open on Monday and Tuesday. We were there on a Tuesday. The location can't be beat if you want to be downtown near restaurants and shops. The shag carpet must go. The shower is missing tiles. The table in the room was filthy. The blinds were broken and couldn't completely shut. Should have paid $10 more and stayed down the road at the Marriott.

Yelp
We had a terrible experience at this hotel. from the moment we arrived, the guy working at the front desk was unfriendly, unhelpful, and unapologetic when a number of things went wrong. The walls are paper thin in this hotel, and the room's tv next to us was blaring until 11:30 pm keeping us awake... not the hotel's fault of course, but we asked the front desk to call and ask them to turn it down. We called another two times over the course of half hour because no call was placed, and finally had to physically go down to talk to the guy at the desk and his managed who had arrived, at which time they decided to finally call the other room. There was no answer, tv was still blaring and so we asked to move rooms (close to midnight at this point). These guys then had the audacity to tell us that we had to then "pay more because it was a different room". we checked online, and our new room was listed for cheaper (it was smaller when we got there). There was also used cleaning wipes (pictured below) which gives staying in a hotel in the COVID era a little extra sparkle. It was incredibly loud all night from other hotel guests, people on the street, garbage trucks in the morning. there is 0 social distancing or masks in the hotel bar, so if you're even remotely sensible about COVID, if you like to sleep, or if you like to be treated nicely by hotel staff, this bar & hotel is not for you.

Yelp
Loud disturbing music starting from the wee hours of the morning, like 3-4am that shook the room. People screaming all night. Bar guests running up and down the halls of the hotel and banging on walls. Even at one point heard people on the roof. In the morning for check out, front desk staff heard complaints but did not a thing except say "it's a college town." They need to decide whether they want to be a frat house or a respectable establishment with presentable patrons. People in the lobby at 9am, clearly still inebriated stomping cans into the floor. Disappointed is an understatement. The rooms were lack-luster too with a sink right next to the bed.

Yelp
Bed and pillows were super comfy! The room was quaint but exactly what I expected from a hotel built in the 20's for travelers. We definitely had a couple odd experiences throughout the night in our room, definitely worth it to stay at least once! Hotel staff was super nice and the covid accommodations were great. The people complaining about the size of the rooms have never lived or stayed in a historic house/hotel before haha. I love the overall vibe of the hotel. Spooky but cool

Yelp
I have given adequate time for a manager to reach out to me before writing this review. I will also write this on any platform I can find. This hotel had always provided amazing memories anytime my fiancé and I visit, which is at least twice a year. The location cannot be beat, and I know people complain about the size of the rooms and bathrooms, but it's an old hotel guys! I think the rooms are cute and who is spending their vacation in the bathroom? We've stayed here AT LEAST 10 times, one of those for an amazing New Years Eve. I can't believe all it took was this last time for me to refuse to ever set foot in there again. But it did because there was no follow up, apology or refund that was discussed. We went May 27th and purchased the 4th story, king suite on the main corner for almost $200 for one night. It's one of the nicer rooms, and we had it the previous time and loved it so much because it has amazing views of Flagstaff. This time we went up to an uncleaned room. There were empty togo containers of food, beverages in the fridge, towels all over and discarded face masks on the bed. We went down and informed the front desk clerk who was one of the rudest employees I've encountered there (however, none of them have ever been friendly). There was no apology and he told us to come back in about an hour. When we returned the exact same comforter was on the bed. Now, I am hoping they have multiple sets of the same comforter, but since all the rooms have different comforters, I am guessing not. Later that night, around midnight, I broke out into hives that preceded to cover my entire body. I have never broken out in hives before or even come close to any severe allergic reactions. We were going to spend the next morning enjoying the beautiful weather and playing frisbee golf, but since I got zero sleep and was an itchy bitchy mess, we drove back home instead around 5:30 am. The hives continued to appear and disappear over different areas of my body for 24 hours. When we called to inform them about the hives, again, no apology. She said she would have a manager return our call. Bet you can guess what happens next! Thats right, no phone call occurred. My guess is that since they were in a rush to clean our room they just sprayed the absolute crap out of the comforter with some time of disinfectant that my skin could not stand. So a word of warning if you have allergies to chemicals or sensitive skin in general, do not come here. If you like to be treated with respect a kindness, do not come here. If you like businesses with integrity and humility, do not come here. If you're a too cool for the rest of the world hipster jerk; this is the place for you.

Yelp
Stopped into their hotel to do a self guided tour. Throughout Flagstaff there are many "haunted historical" locations. If you go into the Information Center when you arrive, you can pick up many brochures, maps and information to plan your day. It's located right near the railroad tracks. Hotel was built in 1927 its Grand Opening was on New Years Day! It's the historic staple of downtown. There are 73 rooms and has hosted many famous people from the past. Room 210 tells a tale of a long term boarder who hung raw meat from the chandelier. Two ladies that were supposedly thrown from the third floor after trying to asphyxiate men in their sleep. An Infants cries were so surreal, that it has sent many employees running for the doors! The current staff ( LOL) were very welcoming and we were able to walk the hotel & stop by the main desk for advises on places to eat in town. During the visit our girls took the elevator up to the third floor. The mysterious "Bell Boy" never made his presence known. The quaint City Of Flagstaff is hosted to many haunted locations and is ranked as one of the MOST eerie places in America. Some paranormal activity still is rumored to occur today throughout this Tinselly Town. We enjoyed taking our own pace to jaunt through, visit and experience all the uniqueness this place has to offer.

Yelp
This place is absolutely beautiful and historic. It has the old time-y vibe and the front desk man was nice. Since there is a bar and cocktail lounge right under us, the lobby was extremely loud but I can barely hear it on the second floor. I was nervous to stay here due to the MANY bad reviews but my boyfriend and I have had a wonderful experience so far. We got to walk around downtown for a bit and just had an overall really good time. no bed bugs, clean room, clean bathroom, a 10/10 overall. My boyfriend and I stayed just one night in one of the travelers rooms (212) so there was just a small room with a queen bed. There were shared bathrooms and showers down the hallway. Everything was clean and nice Highly recommend:)

Yelp
Worst hotel experience ever! From the smallest room to the tiniest bathroom and shower to the most horrible A/C system, this place ranks among the most inferior hotels in America. Don't be fooled by the hotel's website photos. Outside, Flagstaff, AZ is a beautiful town.
