Hotel Montecarlo

The staff were really rude to me when I left and overall the room didn’t feel that clean. They were not very flexible and the simple breakfast included took almost an hour to bring out in the morning.

This is an antique hotel that makes you "WOW!" It's very elegantly furnished, and really an oasis in Riobamba city center. While looking like a classical European mansion, it does provide modern amenity to make your stay comfortable. Purified water, coffee and tea are provided. The restaurant next to it (where you'll get your complimentary breakfast) is a great option for food. Highly recommended!

A nice hotel in an old building (1900) in the heart of Riobamba. Amazing service. Beds, bathroom...all good. I recommend it for budget conscious and location.

We stayed here the night before a trek and also for a few nights afterwards so we could explore Riobamba. Availability allowed them to be flexible the second time so we switched to a lighter room at the back which had an internal balcony overlooking the garden. Oscar on reception was welcoming, friendly and very helpful. He stored luggage safely for us while we were on the trek and later loaned me a laptop so I could back up my many photos (important to me!). He even arranged for the restaurant next door to open sooner for breakfasts when we needed to head off early. The hotel laundry service was good and quick. The rooms had Netflix etc as well as the usual TV channels.

I was given a room on the 2nd floor: upon our arrival the elder men in charged at the lobby helped us with the bags and sent another men to show us where we can park our car. The parking is not within the hotel is around 2 blocks away. The bathroom was small but did have hot water to shower, tv provided, no lamps, unable to lock the entrance room door from inside. The windows are very thin, we were able to hear everyone that came in since lobby is nearby. The wood for the stairs and hall makes noises every time someone walks. No dryer or iron available. Wifi connection is okay . The Knowledge of emergency procedures such as simply knowing the police contact # was unbelievable. My husband got robbed the same night we checked in around a nearby bar and building staff Or police were horrible in assisting us . I told the staff our room key was stolen together with my husbands phone and wallet , therefore I don’t feel safe in the same room and requested a new one. The answer I got was that “ ALL the rooms were occupied and that I should worry that I’m safe 😩🤦‍♀️. I’m waiting for daylight to check out and go elsewhere and hopefully we can also make a police report if they ever show up 😫

This is now my go to hotel in RIOBAMBA. Not new but has great character.

Great centrally located Hotel. Rooms were comfortable, and they have hot water.

The hotel caught my attention while I was passing by. I was very disappointed because of the previous hotel I was, but I walked in, saw the rooms, checked the Wi-if and decided to switch hotels. It was all right. The rooms are quiet and the beds soft, hot water was available. The internet was fine and I had no further complaints about it. I stayed over for 4 nights and I had no problems. |The only criticism I’d made was the breakfast hours. They have a agreement with a small cafeteria in the corner, but if you wish to have breakfast earlier, you’d probably have to ask as a favor to serve you earlier. |Other than that, no problems.|I’d come back to the hotel.
