Hotel Montecodeno

This hotel is charming and locally run in the heart of Varenna.||The staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, assisting carrying the suitcases up the stairs and assisting with any questions we have during the stay. |The breakfast has a nice variety and a great bonus for the reasonable room rate. ||Location is perfect being an easy walk to the ferry terminal as well as the key attractions in Varenna.||The room itself is small, which was expected when booking. All expected amenities are provided and while it could do with some updating it was fine for what we needed.

We had a very pleasant stay overall. The hotel was welcoming and dog-friendly, which we really appreciated. The breakfast was good and the concierge was kind and helpful throughout our visit. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly — a great place to unwind while hiking.||Unfortunately, due to a mix-up on our part, we left behind a pair of pants. While we understand this was our mistake, it was disappointing that no one contacted us or made an effort to return them, especially since they were likely found.||Despite this, we enjoyed our stay and would consider coming back — just with a firmer grip on our luggage next time

Location is excellent. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very good. However, our room was dirty and full of ants. The ants crawled across our bed, there were many in the bathroom, crawling along the floors In the main room, and obviously in our Suitcases. We had no coffee in our room even though we asked for it. Our door was impossible to lock and unlock, and the key would stick relentlessly. I would not go back.

The location is perfect, 2 minutes from the ferry, 10 minutes from villa monestero. Room was clean, small, balcony had a great view! The shower is Tinyyy, if you're on the heavier side, you'll have a problem showering here. Breakfast was fresh and good as well

Room felt much smaller than advertised, with a tiny shower and below-average cleanliness. No fridge, average breakfast. Staff were nice and location great, but I’d stay elsewhere if possible

great location, super quaint, clean. not the most modern but is very cute. and the breakfasts are nice :) would stay here again!

Excellent service, great location, and the breakfast exceeded expectations with a wide variety of offerings. The staff provided five-star service—definitely worth the money. Don’t hesitate to book your stay here!

Good location, great WiFi, comfortable rooms (though the mattress was not firm). Breakfasts need work -- dry scrambled eggs, many stale baked goods, more staff needed to refresh offerings and clean tables.

Comfortable place, near the station (2 blocks) and the ferries (1 block). The rooms are simple and very clean. Our room had a partial view of Lake Como. Nice staff - they called the Varenna hair stylist for me (reservations required). Complimentary breakfast (8-10am) was filling - coffee, pastries, meat, cheese, yogurt, fruit, juice, granola cereal. Just 2 blocks from town square, Piazza San Giorgio, where there are many restaurants and shops. Quiet and safe area. Great value.
